Fresh Blooded Flowers

middle of nowhere

middle of nowhere

Jul 18, 2025

[notice: this story focuses more on character's emotions than plot so the first two chapters might seem boring because these are conversation based and the real story starts from chapter 3 but the first two chapters are there so the readers can understand each characters personality and mindset. The story about the flower would be explained in details later in the story. So if anyone wants to judge the story, I would like to request to not judge it quickly and at least read till chapter 4. Thank you ]

"no way you really believe in that kind of stuff"

Tasunee said, her expression confused, she's half laughing and half ready to slap Sadie's damn face.

"Yeah it may sound weird but it might be true, who knows? You can't just judge me like that!"

Sadie says with a slight pout, her arms crossed as she looked away from Tasunee for a second and then turned back to meet her eyes

"Plus I'm serious about it. I don't care if it's real or not, at least we'd have a fun little adventure, I'm bored of this daily routine of wake up-go to uni-come back-study-sleep. It's high time we actually enjoy our lives freely, why miss such a chance?"

Sadie tries to convince Tasunee. But Tasunee wasn't into what she called "baseless mythical stories" . Tasunee raises a brow

"so now you're trying to convince me to go hunt the forest to find a magical flower that grants wishes?"

Tasunee signs leans on the table with one elbow

"That's too childish. I can't believe there's adults out there who believe in this, I mean it's 2017 not 1945, don't they have actual jobs to do or families to feed? I don't understand who got time for these"

Tasunee says, her tone mocking, refusing Sadie's proposal for the adventure completely. She takes a sip of her coffee and speaks again before Sadie could say anything

"Plus right now we should focus on study, we gotta graduate, don't we? Life's too short for wasting time on nonsense and you need to accept that"

Sadie glares at Tasunee

"Why is she always so focused on study? She's so boring I'm sure she'll regret not enjoying life when she hits her 40's"
Sadie says to herself.

"Yeah yeah I get it, studying is important, but life's short doesn't mean we have to pass it without any fun at all, and even if we don't find anything, at least we'd get to explore the forests a bit and freshen up our mind...at least you should try it once since your life revolves around study and now your brain can't process anything other than text books"

Sadie says, the last sentence dripping with sarcasm and a hint of frustration. She really wanted to do something entirely new and risky, but Tasunee was ruining her plans

"Oh damn shut it. my brain only processes logical things– things that matter, and I'm sure we both know how stupid your idea sounds."

Tasunee sips on her coffee

"And your coffee is getting cold"

Sadie groans in frustration

"Oh stop calling my idea stupid Tasuneeeeee, it's gonna be funnn"

Her voice exhausted, part desperate

"Do you hear her Akari? She thinks my idea is stupid"

Akari, the café manager, was cleaning glasses behind the counter. The café almost silent as Sadie and Tasunee's voice and the soft clinks of glasses filled the air. Akari spoke without looking up

"Well...it does sound kind of fun but it is stupid. People already stopped trying to find that flower back in 1956. that should tell you something"

Sadie groans louder

"Akari you too now? Ughhhhhhhh, oh dear lord please make someone take my sideeeeeee! It's just a little adventureeee!!!"

Akari chuckles softly

"I know your reason's stupid, but if you're only going for the adventure, then I might tag along"

Sadie lits up

"Awww really? Akari I knew you wouldn't say no! Thank youuuuuu"

Sadie turns to Tasunee with a grin

"Now go home and study or whatever. I got my partner I don't need to beg you anymore"

Tasunee just gives Sadie a look as she finishes her coffee at once and sets the cup down

"Yeah I'd rather study but it's almost hitting 11:38 pm, maybe I'd go home and sleep. You can stay here and plan your little fantasy adventure with him all you want"

Tasunee still wasn't thrilled by the idea. She stands up, picking up her purse

Sadie looks at the clock, now hitting 11:39. She signs And stands up too.

"Maybe I'll go home too I didn't realize it got this late"

She glances at Akari

"You should go home too and I swear if you change your mind later. I'll go home and plan the whole trip"

Akari laughs. He genuinely loved Sadie's chaotic vibe.

Sadie and Tasunee walked together through the nearly empty streets. Just a few shops were still lit. The cold air brushed past them, drifting down from the hills and forests that surrounded their isolated town. The streetlamps flickered, casting long shadows across the sidewalk.

Sadie’s apartment was just a 20-minute walk from the café. She reached home, unlocked the door, and stepped in

A strong wave of dusty air straight hits her face. The apartment looked like no one had cared enough to clean it for ages.

The trash bin was tipped over, garbage scattered across the floor, flies circling above like vultures. Crumpled chip packets, used tissues, and a half-eaten sandwich sat rotting near the entrance. Clothes were thrown everywhere—on the couch, the floor, even draped across the TV, which was caked in dust like it had been abandoned in a sand storm.

The fridge hummed weakly, its door half open. Inside, a block of cheese had melted into an unidentifiable goo, sticking to everything like glue. A foul, sour smell leaked from the kitchen, mixing with the scent of old socks and something worse—something wet and forgotten.

It wasn’t just messy. It was unlivable.

Sadie was not pleased with the horribly unwelcoming setting.

"SAGE! Ever heard of basic hygiene? Tf is this!? You know what I AIN'T cleaning all this. Either you clean it or deal with it!!"

She yelled as she was really mad. she takes off her shoes.

Her voice echoes through the empty apartment. She was well aware that it was empty, but that didn't matter. She still yelled, and she'd keep yelling, day after day until her soul finally rests.
