The door to Hyun-woo’s office creaked open. Soo-hyun stepped in.
"Hyun-woo?" he called softly.
No answer. Soo-hyun strolled in, his eyes roaming the pristine office. Hands in his pockets, he glanced at the architectural model on the workbench, tilting his head in consideration. Then he moved around to Hyun-woo’s desk. He paused, studying the ergonomic office chair, before settling into it himself. A beat passed. He looked across the desk surface, his fingers idly toying with a mechanical pencil. His hand then hovered over the top drawer, a little flick of curiosity in his posture.
Just then, the door opened.
Hyun-woo walked in and stopped abruptly as their eyes met. Soo-hyun snatched his hand away from the drawer, but without any real shame.
"There you are," Soo-hyun said. "Thought I’d check before dragging you to get coffee. This chair is surprisingly underwhelming."
Hyun-woo said nothing. He simply walked past Soo-hyun toward the other side of the room, placing his car keys into a small bowl before removing his jacket and hanging it on the coat stand. Soo-hyun rose slowly from the chair.
"You always this hostile before caffeine?" Soo-hyun pressed, undeterred.
"Only when people test door handles instead of sending texts," Hyun-woo retorted, his voice flat.
Min-su appeared in the doorway then, a look of mild relief on his face. "Ah. Good. You’re in. I’ll give you a lift back to mine later. You can pick up your bike."
That caught Soo-hyun’s attention. "You were at his place? Where was my invite?"
"Just picked something up. That’s all," Hyun-woo stated, dismissive.
"Interesting timing. You don’t usually do surprise drop-ins." Soo-hyun’s tone was laced with insinuation.
"I’ve got a spare key," Hyun-woo cut him off, his voice sharp. "I’ll collect the bike when I get the chance." A beat. "Unlike you," he added, turning his gaze pointedly to Soo-hyun, "I’m trying to deliver the best product we can for this launch."
Soo-hyun lifted his hands in mock offense. "Woah. I’m wounded. Remind me never to make small talk."
Hyun-woo’s expression didn’t change. He crossed to the desk, picked up a rolled floor plan, seemingly unbothered by Soo-hyun's jabs.
Min-su glanced between the two of them, a familiar weariness in his eyes. "Soo-hyun. Leave him be. You’re annoying at the best of times."
They all left the room, the door clicking shut behind them.
The drawer remained shut.
