When I opened them I was down at the side of the beach and no one was there but me. “Hello?” I called out. In a few seconds a mermaid came out from the water. Her beautiful scales were just as colorful as her hair. It was like a rainbow. “Wow!” Was all that came out. “Hi, it’s nice to meet you Avanti! My name is Aarini.” “You know my name?” “Of course I know who you are. I know you always wanted to meet a mermaid like me.” “What’s it like living under the sea? Do you talk to fish? Ummm…do you like living there?”

“I love living there. I also enjoy my fish friends as well.” “Okay, I have some more questions.” “I have to go to Avanti. Go enjoy the beach.” In one swift motion she dove back into the sea. “Wait!” I said, clearly startled. “Aww. She left.” I ran to tell my mom and dad. “Mom, dad! Guess what!” “What?” “I met a mermaid.” “That’s amazing.” “I know.” I looked out at the ocean and I saw a tail go under the water in the distance. That must be her! “Look mom! That’s her.” Her mom and dad  looked in that direction. “Wow, Good eyes.” Her dad said. “Told you.” I smiled so wide my mouth started to ache. “This is the best vacation ever!”
