I Wish I Could See The World Through Your Eyes

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Jul 20, 2025

Charley's P.O.V.

New Bin's Corp Conference Room

I sat next to Sang-ook with a bright smile on my face as he spoke into the microphone and answered the press's questions. My eyes looked to the right side of the table to see Sang-ook's family with straight expressions. I fought my coming giggle. I just know his family is pissed. Originally, I would have felt bad, but knowing that they all played a part in getting Sang-ook to trap me and kill me made this fun. The only issue is Gabi. I know she doesn't know about the Bin's murdering business, but from my research, she will ride or die for Sang-ook. Anything he said, she would do, and it was never a crime for him to ask her to do. Just imagine how she will react once she finds out about Sang-ook and I's wedding.

“Charley and I originally kept our engagement a secret to prevent any stress as we planned our wedding. We thought we were doing well hiding everything, but it seems that we were wrong.” Sang-ook said, answering a question.

“What does this mean for New Bin's Corp?!” someone from the press asked.

“Nothing will change in our company. Everything will stay the same,” Sang-ook's father said.

“There were rumors about you and Gabriel Lyons being together. Were those false?”

“Gabriel and I are only friends. We are not in a relationship,” Sang-ook answered.

That's going to sting.

“Charley Wolffe is rumored to be a worker at Golexi. Is it true that you hired her to work as a spy for your company?” Another reporter asked.

“Sang-ook and I met at a ball some time back. When we dated, I kept my job a secret from. It wasn't until a little later on that I told him about my career. I know that it may seem as though I was a spy sent to get secrets or even become a spy sent from Golexi to spy on New Bin's Corp, but I promise you that this is honest love and nothing more than that. I didn't want our relationship to end just because he was a part of my company's competitors.”

Sang-ook's P.O.V.

She's wiggling her damn left index finger. Of course, she is. “Charley, how do you feel about getting married to such a prestigious family?”

“It's honestly out of nowhere. One day I am at a ball and then the next I am meeting the man of my dreams-” I ignored her words and glanced at my family to see their straight faces. I know they are pissed. Especially when they were called to a press conference to announce an engagement between me and a woman who was expected to be dead by now. The good thing is that the press now seems interested in Charley and the act she had been playing.

Thirty Minutes Later, The Elevator

We stood in the elevator with my family, quietly as the media tried to grab their last photos of us. It would have been fine if I didn't know what was going to happen next. I might as well milk everything before then. I took Charley's hand. She smiled softly at me. I smiled back before the elevator doors closed. The moment they did, I let go of her hand.

“So you couldn't kill her, right?” My father asked.

“He tried, really well, in fact,” Charley said with a smirk to him.

“You know you shouldn't even be here.” My mother started.

“I know, but the person you hired was terrible at hiding secrets.” She looked at me. “Sang-ook honey, tell them what happened to him.” I sighed.

“Honey?” Min-kyu questioned.

“It's only right to call him that since we are going to get married, after all,” Charley said with a faultless expression.

“Look at her starting shit,” Ye-won said. Cheol-min chuckled.

“I like her. She's funny.” My family glared at him.

“Charley killed Stanley Mcclure,” I said before looking at my parents.

“Oh, so she killed him, but you couldn't kill her?” My father asked.

“I tried to kill her-” I started, but he interrupted.

“Tried to!”

“Look, what the hell was I supposed to do?! The information I was given was that she was smart, not that she had super speed or professional training!” I yelled.

“You're yelling at me?!” My father yelled back.

“You're asking me why I couldn't kill her-”

“You know what? I can kill her right now-” my father started.

“Do it,” Charley said. My father tried to rush her, but my family held him back. Charley burst out in laughter, causing us to freeze. She held her stomach before looking at us. “You know I didn't blackmail you all because I get it. Business is business, but then I remembered you all were trying to kill me and it pissed me off. Then the media found out about our engagement before anyone said anything. How? Because you didn't think the media would jump at the moment they saw your son and me together. Taking me to meet you all or him bringing me to his home. All the while having him wait for me and pretend to care for me. Then he fell in love with me but too I guess that is not good right? Gabi has been blowing his phone up since the news got out.” She leaned against the wall and continued to laugh.

“Blackmail or not, why go through the trouble of getting married?” Min-kyu asked. Charley stopped laughing and looked at us.

“Had you not sent your son not threaten my family, I would have moved on.”

“Your cousin was taking out loans on you. What do you mean you would have been fine-” Charley glared at me in offense to what I said.

“Don’t bring her up. Anyway, I was supposed to be okay, but you all tried to then create a fake engagement to throw me off and kill me in my sleep or whatever. It's a fucked up thing to do. You know, what makes it worse is that I almost fell for it. Even though I knew that Sang-ook's goal was to kill me, I wanted to believe for once that perhaps I saw everything wrong, but everything ran according to your guys' plan.. That was when I knew that dreaming for something to be true only causes you to lose something you value.”

She wanted to believe that everything was real for once. Why would she? “How did you know about our exact plan? You said you saw what you saw with the hitman and his death, what about the new plan? No one else could have known much about it,” I asked.

“One of your spies told me. I had to threaten him first. It took beating him until he was almost dead to give me the answers. I put him out of his misery after, though. The misery of having his life taken by you all once you found out what he told me.”

She wasn't wrong

“Anyway, I realized that maybe getting married would be something good to do. You want your son to be married right? My family wants me to move on from the past. The media spews a fairy tale love story that happened at a ball and in the end, everyone benefits. Plus, if you wanted, you could capitalize off of it.” The elevator doors opened. “Anyway, I have to make a call to Jocelyn.” I arched my brow.

“The very woman who busted your lip,” I said.

“I beat her ass Sang-ook. You noticed she stopped calling me, right?” She said before walking out. My family's mouths dropped. I started to walk out.

“She beat her cousin up?” My mother asked. I sighed and put my hand between the doors to stop it from closing.

“The summarized story is that her cousin slept with her ex-fiance and showed her proof of it. You can understand how that went, knowing that she killed people.”

“Ex-fiance?” my mother questioned. I already know she is not happy hearing that.

“Her ex-fiance cheated on her in the past. Their relationship soon ended.”

“Are you sure her cousin and ex-fiance sleeping with each other is not what made her snap?” Ye-won asked. “Think about it, she wants to get married despite hating us.” she finished.

“Charley is just doing something that would have happened anyway if anyone we had killed survived. Try to gain something out of it," I said.

“We're lucky she didn't blackmail us. Had I been her, I would have.” Cheol-min said.

“But she's trying to marry Sang-ook as a benefit,” Min-kyu said.

“With her being a newly married woman in the Bin family, the media will think of her as the reputation she is showing. In this case, the naïve woman that is in love and wants to spend time with the man she loves.” My mother said. I looked at my father to see him still in thought. I know that look. What Charley said got to him.

Shit

What did I get myself into?

The Car Ride Back

I sat in annoyance as Charley and I drove back to the estate. “If you are mad at me you can say it you know,” she said. I didn't say anything. “Look, I am sorry for pretending to have feelings for you. I know this is-”

“It's all a part of your plan, right? To make our family miserable since they threatened you,” she nodded. “I had one too.” I finished.

“Which was?” She asked. She knows damn well she shouldn't be asking that.

Charley's P.O.V.

I feel like a jerk. I originally had this plan as a benefit to me. Knowing that there is no doubt that Sang-ook had fallen in love with me makes me feel slightly bad for him. Think about it. I originally planned to kill him at the ball but got distracted. Then I planned to kill him again at my place after my fight with Jocelyn, but he must have caught on. Had I not had that hangover, I would have been fine.

Then I realized that perhaps going through with the engagement after he tried to kill me can give me the chance to make them suffer. Had I not been prepared, I may not be here. Instead, I would have been six feet under.

My plan almost backfired had I not fought him and won. At least telling the news about our supposed engagement worked. I knew that doing that would work-

The car suddenly went off of the road at full speed. I looked at Sang-ook to see his foot on the gas and the determination on his face.

He was trying to kill us, wasn't he?!
