A series of notifications flashed across Alec’s panel as the golems became increasingly efficient at eliminating zombies with their stone spears.
It was obvious that the newly acquired spearmanship skill had significantly enhanced their combat performance.
[Basic Spearmanship – Level 1]
Improves spear handling, increasing speed and strength of thrusts. Enhances chances of lethal strikes and accelerates comprehension of spear techniques with skill progression.
“So that’s the secret behind their growth… they’re starting to move like ancient Chinese spearmen,” Alec muttered in awe.
Curious, he turned to Titan and asked,
“Can you use a spear like them, too?”
He immediately face-palmed, realizing the question was redundant, Titan was his golem, capable of wielding any weapon Alec provided.
Still, when Titan nodded, Alec couldn’t help but mutter, “Whoa,” surprised yet again by the golem’s uncanny intelligence.
Meanwhile, the level 0 golems continued their brutal efficiency atop the wall, each one moving like a trained executioner, impaling zombies before they could even climb close, their aim was precise, targeting heads and chests only which ensured instant death, either when their brains got poked or they fall from such great height.
Any zombie foolish enough to bite or scratch was met with futility, with no flesh to tear and no blood to infect, the golems were immune to conversion.
[Ding!]
[Skill Level Up: Basic Spearmanship – Level 2]
With the skill advancement, Alec observed another shift in their behaviour, the golems no longer relied solely on thrusts, they began incorporating sweeping strikes with the spearhead.
This adaptation proved invaluable for close-quarters combat, as the zombies that slipped past the first strike were now decapitated in wide, sweeping arcs that cleared space and ensured none rose again.
The Gordon Clan mages that stepped back watched in stunned silence as Alec’s summoned golems did the work of seven trained warriors with machine-like precision, it left many wondering just how far Alec had gone in refining his golems to wield weapons with such deadly finesse.
Many assumed Alec had passed down this knowledge of weapons to his golems, much like seasoned Golem Masters who taught advanced weapon techniques to their constructs to boost their combat efficiency.
However no one had expected Alec to reach such a level in golem creation, especially not as a newly awakened mage.
“Genius!” some exclaimed in awe, marvelling at the young prodigy.
Agnes scoffed at the stunned expression of a nearby Gordon clan youth.
“What did you expect? He’s the leader of our generation, if he didn’t have the strength or talent to earn that spot, he wouldn’t be standing there,” she said confidently.
The realization that Alec was actively participating in a battle of such scale, while they merely watched, stirred something in the younger generation, his brilliance lit a fire in them, igniting their own ambitions to grow stronger.
Alec could feel their gazes, filled with admiration and curiosity, settling on him like flames licking at his back.
He sighed quietly, in this world, strength was everything, he understood now that his rising status in the clan would bring hope, joy, and even obsession from those who aspired to follow in his footsteps.
From the corner of his eye, he noticed his grandfather nodding at him, relaxed in posture, but with the faint trace of astonishment still visible on his face.
Alec suddenly had the urge to create another spear to test if Titan could match the spear skills of the level 0 golems, but he resisted, as his mana was nearly depleted after crafting the spears earlier.
For now, Titan remained at his side, guarding him as his strongest creation.
Then, a piercing scream tore through the air—the defensive line had been breached from a different angle.
Alec’s head snapped in the direction of the disturbance, another Tier 1 zombie had appeared, not the agile kind like before.
This one had red skin stretched tightly over bulging muscles, resembling a monstrous bodybuilder.
Without hesitation, Alec activated his inspection skill.
[Inspect]
[Claw Type – Strength Zombie]
Level: Low Tier 1
Battle Power: 57
His eyes narrowed. This one could easily take out several clan members before they had a chance to react or defend themselves, and Alec wasn’t prepared to witness the death of anyone from his family.
“Titan—stop him,” Alec ordered firmly.
With a low mechanical whirr, Titan turned toward the threat, its glowing red eyes flared brighter as it prepared to engage.
With steady, deliberate steps, Titan charged forward, its movement eerily lifelike, almost indistinguishable from that of a living warrior.
Alec turned to Arthur, a hint of concern in his voice.
“I hope you can live up to your words as my new guard, Arthur.”
“Of course. I’m more than strong enough to protect you,” Arthur replied confidently, thumping his chest as he reached out to his Tier 1 Mana Pool and cast the Rock Armour spell on himself.
“Woah, yours looks shinier than usual, did you tweak the spell model to modify your Rock Armour like that?” Alec asked, intrigued by the enhanced glow.
“That’s because I have the metal element too. It allows me to integrate some of it into the Rock Armour spell,” Arthur explained.
“It strengthens the spell and aligns better with my elemental affinity, though it’s still not a complete fusion of both elements, just a partial mutation. So far, I’ve only been able to do this with Rock Armour.”
Arthur didn’t take his eyes off Titan, focused entirely on how the golem would handle the new challenge.
Then, the clash began.
Titan’s mighty mace met the ferocious claws of the Tier 1 zombie, producing a thunderous impact that echoed across the battlefield.
Though pushed back slightly, Titan held firm, his shield absorbing the brunt of the zombie’s frenzied strikes that followed.
The zombie hesitated for a split second, confused by its opponent’s resilience, then reverted to raw instinct, lashing out again in a wild frenzy.
Clang!
Titan’s shield moved with precision, intercepting every blow as if anticipating each strike before it came.
[New Skill Acquired: Block Mastery]
[Block Mastery – Level 1]
Alec caught the notification but paid it no mind for now, as his attention was locked on Titan’s performance.
He wondered whether his other golems were unlocking skills like this, triggered by their repetitive weapon use in combat.
The thought was overwhelming, nothing had ever developed like Titan’s uncanny mastery over the mace.
Lost in thought, Alec watched Titan deliver the finishing blow, with the mace crushed the zombie’s head in a decisive swing, blood splattering across the golem’s smooth brown surface as it stood tall and imposing—like a god of war.
Alec found himself reincarnated into a world where magic reigned supreme.
He was initially confused by the turn of events, but little did he know that this was just the beginning of a much more extraordinary journey.
As fate would have it, he soon discovered that he was the illegitimate son of one of the most influential families in the capital, the Blaze Clan but His grandfather, taking on the responsibility, cared for him until he was old enough to embark on his path as a mage.
Ironically, Alec never truly grasped the significance of his family's ancient secrets, dismissing them as trivial.
However, everything changed when he awakened his dormant system and gain abilities that made him unique.
From that moment on, he dedicated himself to becoming one of the world's most renowned mages, all while working towards fulfilling his grandfather's unfulfilled aspirations and carrying on the golem mages' legacy.
