Alonso’s P.O.V.
Alonso’s Car
This silence is killing me. Not to mention Claire's words. They're flooding my mind right now and making me feel awkward. Interested in dating Kari? As far as I can tell, she doesn't seem to be interested in me at all.
We stopped at a stoplight. My eyes panned over to her to see her staring out the window. The woman’s eyes were like the ocean; her hair was like rivers, and her skin in the city lights glistened before me. I felt my cheeks redden. Damn you, Claire. I have to drive her back to your place tomorrow.
A car behind me honked, making my brows furrow. I went back to driving. Maybe I should start a conversation. That way, I can distract myself.
“Kari, right?”
“Yes”
“What are you doing on Planet 300? I mean, you did not come here just to buy a spaceship, right?”
“I did. Planet 300 was more of a stopping point to buy a spaceship, but I did not think of any shops closing.”
“I get it. Where do you plan to go?”
“I want to move to a new planet. I heard nice things about it.”
“I am guessing it is not nearby.” She shook her head.
“No”
Claire would love to hear this. I know without a doubt she may ask to join this woman in leaving Planet 300. That is, if she is prepared. The issue is that it is hard to know if Kari would accept bringing her along.
I looked at Kari from the corner of my eye. The woman’s confusing expression now seemed full of sorrow. The conversation we had before probably reminded her of some things she did not want to think about.
My idea of her running away from something must be true. I pulled up to the hotel and looked at her.
“I will be back at five a.m. Claire’s shop should be open by then. I know it is early, but I have work after dropping you off.” She nodded.
“Okay,” She started to get out of the car, but stopped. She turned around and looked at me.
“Thank you for everything.” I felt my cheeks heat up.
“Oh, are you feeling well?” She asked, moving a little closer to me.
They say fire can burn just about anything, yet her cold eyes are what prevented that.
“No, I am fine. It’s just a little hot.”
“Okay”
Don’t leave
“Tomorrow, right?” She said before getting out again. I nodded.
“Yeah”
You may be the only other
A normal person I can talk to.
She nodded. “Then see you then.”
I watched her walk into the office. I am some random man to her. I get that, but feeling what I feel now, I know that she will be the person Claire runs away with. And for some reason, knowing that I as well don’t want to stay too far behind the group.
My phone began to ring. I looked at it to see that it had been for one of my invitees. I shook my head. After tonight, I will be done with all of this.
Kari’s P.O.V
Midnight
Kari’s Hotel Room
I flipped through the radio stations in front of me enthusiastically. I never got to listen to it in the palace. It was more of something for after marriage, but after marrying Kade, I spent most of my time taking care of the kingdom.
So many songs and commercials!
What is something I can listen to?
“I am here for you~”
“Do you like to travel, then come on down to Spens spaceship emporium-”
“Kari, a prominent woman-”
“Sing to me, my dear-”
Wait.
I turned back to the channel before. “Planet 273 seems to have lost her way, and we need your help to bring her home. If you see a short, pear-shaped woman with really long turquoise hair, purplish blue eyes, and deep umber skin, please inform us. Her husband misses her dearly.”
No, they put advertisements out to find me. I have to go. I got off my bed and grabbed the little things I had. I walked towards the door and opened it. The desk clerk walking down the hall looked at me.
“Ma'am, I think-” I closed the door. “Ma'am!” The man said as he pounded on the door.
I looked at the window. It is good I am on the bottom floor. I rushed to the window and opened it. I tried my best to climb out. In the end, I ripped part of my nightgown but made it out safely..
