Alonso’s P.O.V
Alonso’s Condo
I sat in my car and thought about everything in my life. I am tired of this planet and rely on temporary relationships to keep me going. When I met Claire, it was like a breath of fresh air. My idea of romance changed, and life did not feel as boring as it was before. I hate to say this, but in a way, nothing would come to me if I stayed. But if I were to leave, it would be no different from chasing romance. Something I thought I stopped doing a long time ago.
This planet that Kari plans to go to, I hardly have any knowledge of it besides what she told me. I do not know the name or how many people are there. Hell, I am not even sure if there will be opportunities as great there for me as here. What should I do? They leave soon, and I am unsure of my decision.
Claire’s P.O.V
Claire’s Home
I packed my bags in excitement. I am finally leaving Planet 300! I never would have thought this opportunity would come. Kari coming when she did is the best thing to has ever happened to me. I picked up another sweater and placed it inside my bag.
Now, all that is left is for Alonso- I paused my packing.
I hope he takes the bait. Alonso's coming helps a lot. Kari seems like a good person, but having someone else I know feels a lot more comforting. Speaking of Kari, I should check on her. I walked out of my room and downstairs. I walked into the living room to see Kari sleeping on the couch. I shook my head. I offered her the opportunity to sleep in the second room.
I was about to go back upstairs, but stopped. Looking at Kari, she appears polished, sort of like royalty. She has no piercings or tattoos and has unique features. She has a strong aroma of lavender and peppermint. A hint of rose is there, too. Was she a woman who came from wealth?
I wonder if she will keep it a secret forever or tell me during our trip. Either way, we are going to have to get to know each other. Even the terrible things we are hiding from each other.
Three Hours Later
I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I groaned and reached for my phone. I pressed the off button and sat up. I hardly slept. I have been spending all my time cleaning my place out and packing. Before I knew it, it was three am. I got out of bed and walked downstairs.
“Kari, it's morning. We should get ready to go.”
I walked towards her. She is still out. How do I wake her? I am nervous that she may be one of those fighting sleepers or something. I examined her. My eyes stopped as they saw a small bracelet with a daisy.
"That's cute," Kari's eyes fluttered open.
"Claire?" she questioned.
“It's near dawn,” I said. She sat up and stretched.
Her eyes caught one of my boxes before she looked around.
"I am sorry that I was not much of a hand. I should have packed more." I shook my head.
"Nonsense, but if you do not mind, can you help me load the truck?” I asked. She nodded.
“Where is the truck?” She asked with a yawn.
“It should be here soon.” She looked at me with confusion. A knock came on my door.
“Right on time.”
I walked over to my door and looked through the peephole. There stood Alonso with an annoyed look on his face. I opened the door.
“Alonso!”
“You won,” He said. I looked at Kari, who seemed shocked.
“I hope it is okay if he joins us.”
Five Days Later, September 16th
In Space
For a few days, we have been following the coordinates Kari put i. Strangely, no planet pops up, but Kari promises that there is something there. It was fine at first, but I am now questioning her. During introductions, she told us the least about herself. I know I should not judge her, but it did not help now that she has become nearly numb since that night.
When we shopped for clothing, she seemed attracted to clothes, the opposite of what one would imagine. I admit I liked her ideal taste, flashy and risque, yet she always ended up getting that covered her up. She hardly spoke any more than she needed to get by. I thought Alonso joining us would have opened her up again, but I was wrong. Did something happen that we missed?
Alonso came into the cockpit and sat next to me. “I think we should make another gas stop,” I said.
“I can get something for us to eat while we are there. What are you in the mood for?”
“Maybe a parfait and pancakes. Something like that.”
“I am taking it that I will be flying after that, right?” I smiled at him.
“Yup,” He stood up.
“I might as well ask Kari what she wants to eat.”
Tonight, when Kari flies, I will sit beside her and try to ask more about her. Hopefully, she feels comfortable answering.
