Chapter 14: Isn't he just a human?!(3)

' Tsk....no, there's no point in getting angry. Fools will forever be fools, what's best is finding out where that little rascal ran off to' Her hand twitched at her side, but she forced herself to remain composed.

The trio rounded the corner, their laughter grating against her nerves. When they spotted her standing there, serene yet imposing in her crisp uniform, their merriment died instantly.

" E.e..eri San?!!!."

The ghoul’s eyes widened, its dark sockets flickering with unease. The zombie’s jaw slackened, and even the skeleton’s rattling bones stilled. They stumbled over themselves, bowing awkwardly in deference.

"Please forgive us for not noticing you sooner Head Maid!!!." they chorused, voices trembling.

' Tch....at least they know when to act like the dogs they are...' a mocking glint flashed past her eyes momentarily.

Eri Onee-san feigned a delicate cough, her expression unchanging. " If i may be so frank as to ask, Who were you all talking about just now?"

The ghoul shifted uncomfortably. "Uh, just... uh, a kid. A Little human boy Head Maid. We saw him with Skeleton No. 4 earlier."

Eri’s heart eased slightly. Finally, a clue. But her relief was short-lived.

"He sure was scrawny Eri-San" the ghoul sneered, emboldened by nervous energy. "The feeble brat looked like he couldn’t even lift a broom properly, right fellas"

' couldn't lift a broom?, that little human could clean up more rooms in a single afternoon than you could in a whole year!.' she felt like cursing out loud at this ghouls ironic sentence yet before she could say anything.

The zombie beside the ghoul wheezed out a laugh. "Right, One good shove and I bet you the little meat bag would've gone flying!"

The skeleton clattered its jaw in agreement. " It's to be expected, those weak Humans are so fragile. Wouldn’t mind seeing what his soul taste like though hehehe." The skeleton chuckled yet unbeknowst to him, his simple words was all it took for Eri’s composure to finally crack.

A chilling air suddenly blew against their bodies, all the way to their bones as the temperature within the room began dropping at a rapid rate.

"..!!!!" They all became alarmed raising their heads to then see Eri's frosty expression which sent their minds into panic.

Sadly before they could react, A frigid wave of rage rolled through her chest, threatening to spill over. She clenched her fists, her nails biting into her palms.

But then the ghoul made its fatal mistake, thinking that Eri Onee-san was mad about them talking about their next meal Infront of her, he said.

"Please forgive us head maid, but we're sure if you took a bite of him you'd surely be satisfied!" He said earnestly. " The boy's flesh was the softest I'd ever seen, I'm sure someone as magnificent as yourself would've been stunned by it, not to mention what sort of wondrous blood lies beneath—"

Before the ghoul could finish his sentence, The air around Eri thickened, turning suffocatingly heavy. A low, almost imperceptible hum vibrated through the corridor as her aura flared to life instantaneously.

The feeling similar to a cold, menacing, and overwhelming blizzard!.

The ghoul, zombie, and skeleton had no time to react. They were all simultaneously slammed to the ground with brutal force, their bodies pressed flat against the marble floor as if crushed by an invisible weight.

The ghoul wheezed, its voice strangled. "C-can’t... Move..."

Spiderweb like cracks spread across the floor beneath them, a testament to the sheer intensity of Eri’s fury. The polished surface groaned under the pressure, each fracture spreading like a warning to their impending doom.

Eri’s voice was icy, each word laced with lethal intent. "That ‘little human boy’ happens to be my hand picked servant. Hired personally by me. To think that repulsive maggots such as yourselves would dare to have thoughts on what is rightfully mine?!!"

"N-no, Head Maid!" the ghoul gasped, its face pressed painfully against the ground. "W-we were just joking! Please!"

"Jokes," Eri echoed flatly. "Interesting sense of humor." She sneered wickedly, her sinister expression almost causing the undead creatures themselves to die of fright!.

The zombie's voice was high-pitched with panic. "We didn’t mean it!, Honest!, Please, forgive us Headmaid!!!"

The skeleton, unable to move, simply rattled its bones in what might have been a desperate plea.

Noticing their cowardly and terror stricken figures, Eri’s lips eventually curled into a disdainful sneer. "Pathetic."

Seemingly unable to stay within their presence a moment longer, She lifted her aura slightly, just enough for them to avoid being squished to meat paste but not rise. "Clean this mess up," she ordered coldly, gesturing to the cracked floor. "And remember, next time you think about touching one of my possessions, you’ll wish for a punishment as mild as this."

The trio didn't hesitate to sputter hurried apologies, groveling like cowards who'd been given a new lease at life.

" Hmph! a bunch of maggots indeed.."

Without another glance, Eri Onee-san turned on her heel, her heels clicking sharply against the fractured marble as she strode away. Her figure vanished into the shadows of the corridor, leaving behind only the trembling forms of the ghoul, zombie, and skeleton.

They lay there for a moment longer, gasping for breath, before dragging themselves up when her aura eventually dispersed, to begin the arduous task of repairing the damage.

As they prepared to get to work, one thought echoed in their minds.
