Sunrays sneak through the curtains, landing on Soul’s closed eyes. Thus Soul wakes up in the morning when he gets to see his CEO sleeping beside him. Now he realizes their legs are intertwined with each other while their bare bodies are covered with a thin blanket. The air feels humid yet sweet. Soul takes a moment to enjoy this, the moment which he never actually imagined to happen. From not liking his CEO to falling head over heels for his Shin, it was an overwhelming journey.

When Soul was lost in his thoughts, Shin slightly jolts in the bed. “Are you awake?” Soul asks and Shin just answers with a peck on Soul’s cheek. “You had have enough now.” Soul says as he smiles ear to ear.

“I’m never done with you.” Shin replies with a hoarse voice as he buries his face into the crook of the neck of Soul, making Soul fold himself. “Let’s stay like this for a while.” Shin proposes and Soul hums.

The workaholics decide to cuddle till 11 in the morning but soon disturbed by a call.

“Ugh! Now who the hell in calling?” Shin gets annoyed yet checks his phone, “Mom?”

He picks up the call with his one hand while the other hand is still busy embracing his love, “Good morning mom.”

“Hmm, where are you?” his mother replies bluntly.

“At my friend’s house. Why?”

“Nothing. Come home to have lunch. Also bring your secretary.” By saying this, his mom cuts the call. Though he finds nothing wrong with it.

After cutting the call, he goes back to Soul saying, “Now wake up. My mom is asking us to have lunch with her.”

“But why me?” Soul looks at Shin in a questionable way.

“I don’t know. Maybe because you’re my secretary.” Shin brushes off the topic and gets up from the bed. “Baby, take your time and freshen up. Okay?” Shin caress Soul’s cheeks as both of them exchanges a warm smile.

Shin helps Soul getting ready to go out. He keeps flooding Soul with countless questions such as, “Does it hurt somewhere?” “Are you okay?” “Did I by any chance hurt you?” and so one. On the other hand Soul just chuckles on his silly behavior.

Later they set out to the Parks’ mansion together. As they both enters the living room, Soul feels a tension around but decides to ignore it. Mrs. Park asks both of them to sit at the dining table where Mr. Park is already settled. Both of them greets Mr. Park but he just hums which is very unlikely for him. Soon Mrs. Park joins them and the food gets served. No one says a thing, Soul is having a rush of fear in his spine. The atmosphere starts to get tensed so Shin just initiates the talk,

“Is everything alright?” 

“Do you have anything to tell us, Shin?” Mrs. Park asks without sparing a glace.

“No, I-”

Shin gets cut off by his father, “Then let me ask you. Where were you last night?” He doesn’t sound angry but dead serious.

“I told you. I was at my friend’s.” Even though Shin sounds calm, Soul was shaking from inside. He keeps staring at his foot, trying to guess what will happen next. Little did he know that the scene Shin created last night was probably seen by his parents too and getting called at his house is not really normal at all.

The interrogation doesn’t stop. “Which friend? Ren? Jade? Or Julie? Because I’ve asked them already. Or do you have other friends that we don’t know about?” The mother almost chases off.

“Mom!” Shin has lost it now, “It has nothing to do with you.”

“Yes it has.”

“Who are you to my son?” Now she directly asks Soul.

Soul looks up and gasps for air, his brain starts to malfunction, “Ma’am I’m Mr. Shin’s secretary-” He gets cut off.

“He’s my boyfriend. I was with him last night.” Shin says while addressing both of his parents.

Mrs. Park laughs, laughs like a maniac that pisses off Shin, as always. Soul’s eyes get watery on the other hands. While the mother pauses her laugh and proceeds to speak “What boyfriend? Or is he one of your dolls? The dolls who leeched on your father’s money and you kept on saying, no mom, dad- she loves me!”

“Mom! Are you freaking crazy?”

“She’s right. How many times have you intimated with people on the name of love where they just took expensive clothes and cars from you.” Mr. Park initiates, when Mrs. Parks ends with, “And now with this guy, his secretary I must say. Do you even love him or you just want him for your own good?”

“Are you people being for real?” Shin freaks out, the words coming out of his parents’ mouth are so hurtful and filthy.

Soul is just unable to perceive more words. He just wants to escape the reality. He was daydreaming to be with this man in the morning and now it seems like he’s nothing special in Shin’s life to begin with. “I’m extremely sorry Sir, Ma’am.” Soul speaks as he gets up and proceeds to leave.

“Soul!” Shin tries to stop him by holding his wrist but he just denies, “Please let me go for now, please.” Shin understands that Soul doesn’t deserve the harassment that his parents are forcing onto them, so he just lets him go.

As soon as Soul sets his feet out, tears start falling on his cheeks, within a minute he started sobbing really hard. He realizes that he really doesn’t fit in it. Shin is just a dream that he had seen, unfortunately and it’s the time to go back to the roots. After all he’s just one of his employees.

Back in the mansion, Shin groans in frustration, “Why did you do this? I was being happy this one time in my life and you decided to ruin it. WHY?!”

“Enough Shin. You’re not dating him.” Mrs. Park claims this with the straightest way possible and leaves the place first.

Shin just continues to shout so that his mom can at least hear, “Why? Because he’s a guy and not some madam of dad’s friend.”

Then Mr. Park speaks up, with the tender, wise voice, “Don’t know about you mom but I was never mad at you because you chose a man. But he’s your secretary. You were not even being professional at work. And imagine one day you guys break up, then how will you people work together?”

Shin calms down as his father’s words hit him. He always had faith in his father’s words. The man has built everything with his wisdom. The man has taken care of everyone by himself till now and Shin clearly respects him, loves him. So he just proceeds to listen to him.

“Your mom is not completely wrong. I believe that you might have chosen someone who actually loves you. But did you ask yourself if you’re ready for it or not. Can you give him the respect he deserves? Can you protect him when the whole office will doubt about his way around the office? We’re concerned because we know you.”

Shin was not prepared for this. He just knew that he loves Soul, he loves only Soul and none. He can do anything just to be with him but did he fail already? He couldn’t even protect him from his mother and there is the rest of the world ahead.
