Lucinda arrived at Andorra after a long flight from Neville, she left the airport on her way home, she put her head out of the window and she breathed out air and inhaled again, she did a couple of times before putting her head back in the car. She did this in order to release her anxiety and to be able to prepare herself for what's to come.
Tanny
I got home around three in the afternoon after school, Macklin was not back from his work, so I was the only one in the house, I decided to make some cookies for myself then watch a movie on Netflix. I went to take a shower, on my way down , I heard the engine of a car, then I went to the window to check and it turned out to be mom. I waited for her to knock so I could open the door for her.
"Mom!", I hugged her as soon as I opened the door, she was happy to see me, almost tearing up, "Baby, you finally came out of your room, I am so sorry I couldn't reach because of the bad weather in Neville". "It's not a problem, we resolved our differences and we're cool now.
"Well am glad because I have something to tell both of you", my eyes twitched when she said those words. I had a very weird feeling about what she was about to say. It was like that feeling I felt earlier today at school.
"I hope all is well mom", "Yeah sweetie all is well, so let me go in and freshen up, I am sure by that time your brother will be back and we will all go out to have dinner".
She went into her bedroom and I just stood there looking dazed.
20 MINUTES LATER
Macklin entered the house then I rushed up to him, "Mom is behaving differently today", "What do you mean by that ?", Macklin said looking confused. Tanny was about to explain what happened when Lucinda came in.
"Macklin, you're back!", "Yeah Mom, when did you arrive?", "Not too long, I went up to freshen up, did Tanny tell you we're going out to have dinner?". She said while beaming with a smile.
"Nope, not at all, but I think she was about to when you interrupted her". Macklin replied. Tanny was a little bit upset with his words then she retorted "You're saying it like you are trying to implicate me in front of Mom". Macklin was about to reply when Lucinda said, "Guys can you stop all this childish behaviour, you're not children anymore besides I have something to tell the both of you after dinner.
"Why can't you say it now, why after dinner ?"asked Tanny. "Baby will you just listen to mommy for once?" Lucinda said helplessly.
Tanny decided not to say anything and went upstairs to get ready. All of them got dressed and went to one the most expensive restaurants in the city. They got seated and the waiter came up to them, "Good evening, may I take your order". "Sure", Lucinda replied giving her menu card to the waiter after ticking her dish, Macklin and Tanny also did the same thing.
They waited for a few minutes before their dish came, "Thank God I thought I was going to starve to death", Lucinda said jokingly but no one seemed to react to it which gave some concern.
"Is everything okay?" She asked. "Mum, I want know already", "Tanny! Be patient for once, I said I was going to tell you but I might as well not tell you because you're too eager"
Macklin knew if he didn't stop this, he was going to have an headache, "Okay gugs, you don't need to argue over this and Tanny, let mum take her time". Lucinda was obviously still pissed about Tanny's behaviour and had lost appetite, Tanny too had the same reason, Macklin had no choice but to break the intimidating silence between mother and daughter pair.
"Shall we go?"
They exited the restaurant, throughout the entire drive back home, no one spoke as everyone seems to be lost in their own thoughts.
When Tanny and her family arrive in the unfamiliar city of Neville, all she wants is a new beginning. But as the days unfold, strange occurrences begin to unravel her sense of reality—silent whispers echo in her room, strange symbols appear, and a glowing black cube appears on her windowsill.
Caught between adjusting to a new life and uncovering secrets no one dares to speak of, Tanny begins to question everything—her family, her memories, and even herself. As the line between reality and the unexplainable blurs, one thing becomes clear: the whispers are not just in her head.
