They exited the restaurant, throughout the entire drive back home, no one spoke as everyone seemed to be lost in their own thoughts. Arriving home, Tanny was the first to get out of the car and go into the living room. She threw herself on the sofa waiting for the news her mother was about to break.
(Lucinda and Macklin enters)
Lucinda: Really Tanny? You're just going to ignore me.
Tanny: Mum I'm not angry with you, I'm just nervous and I have been so eager to hear the news.
Lucinda: (Smiles) I don't know how you both are going to feel about this but trust me it's for the best and I am trying to be a better mother for the both of you, I don't want you to lack anything.
Macklin:Mum, I understand you are trying to be good to us but we don't understand all this weird behaviour and long talks.
I
(Lucinda pokes Macklin on his forehead)
Lucinda: You silly boy, what are you trying to insinuate ?
Macklin: ( Laughs) I am not to insinuate anything, I'm just trying to tell you that you're prolonging what you are about to say.
Tanny: Yes!
(Lucinda looks at her children's happy faces and imagines how their faces will turn out after they find out)
Lucinda: (Takes a deep breath) Children, we are moving to Oruntria.
( The smiles on the faces of Macklin and Tanny froze immediately she said those words , just as she expected)
FEW MINUTES LATER
Lucinda was so anxious because none of her children had said a word after the news. Time was ticking, pressure and tension was in the air, silence slowly took over. Macklin stood up and went upstairs first, three minutes later Tanny went to the fridge took out some frozen yoghurt, grabbed a packet of chips and headed upstairs. Lucinda was left alone in the living room, she was devastated, clearly none of her children liked the idea. She went back to her room hoping by tomorrow, they would be back to their normal behaviour.
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
A person wearing pyjamas sneaked into Lucinda's room, this person turned out to be Tiana, she was so aggrieved and couldn't sleep so she decided to come to her mother. Meanwhile Lucinda pretended to be asleep, in her heart she knew one of them would come. Tiana lay beside her mother who seems to be sleeping.
(Tanny whispers)
Tanny: Do we really have to move mum? I love Andorra, no one would accept me like the way people do over here. It's going to change our lives forever, I am not so sure about this.
(Lucinda clearly heard what she was saying and could not help but hug her tightly with tears running down her eyes)
Tanny: ( Heartbroken) Mum, I didn't mean to make you cry, I was just feeling a bit scared or maybe a lot scared (she bursts into tears as well)
Lucinda: I know you feel bad and that wasn't my intention either. I felt this was the best option, it's fine if you don't want to leave, I can always figure out something.
Tanny: (shakes her head in disagreement) No, I don't want to leave you at least not now. I will go with you to Oruntria and you don't have to worry about me being scared or nervous. I will try my best to fit in .
Lucinda: I don't want you to fit in to anything and doesn't suit you, just be you!
Tanny: (Looks at her mum affectionately) I love you so much mum.
Lucinda: (laughs and hugs her) Love you too sweetheart.
(They were still hugging when Macklin knocks and entered, he saw this scene of mother and daughter hugging and felt left out)
Macklin: Hey, I want to be part too
(Lucinda and Tanny laughed at Macklin's childish behaviour)
After talking about their plans of moving to their new home, they were very tired and ended up sleeping on the same bed.
