The Golem Mage

Finally Met The Lanzt Family Younger Generation.

Finally Met The Lanzt Family Younger Generation.

Jul 27, 2025

Before they departed, Alec finally noticed a series of notifications that he had previously ignored in the heat of battle, now that the clash with the zombies had subsided, he had the chance to read through them more carefully.

[Basic Spearmanship leveled up]
[Basic Spearmanship Lv. 5 (Max)]
[To evolve Basic Spearmanship to Intermediate Spearmanship, defeat 100 life forms higher than your level]

Seeing the mission details that would allow his spearmanship mastery evolve made a chill run down Alec’s spine.
The system was once again throwing him headfirst into danger, it was essentially asking a low-tier mage like him to defeat lifeforms a whole tier above, something that even seasoned warriors would hesitate to attempt.

And it wasn’t just one or two, the mission demanded he defeat a hundred Tier 2 lifeforms while still in the Tier 1 realm.
The sheer difficulty of the challenge was crushing.

Still, Alec forced himself not to linger on it, as now wasn’t the time to panic over an impossible mission, he shifted his focus to the second notification, and this one was more intriguing.

[One of your golems has reached its maximum potential and is ready to evolve into a Tier 1 golem. Choose its path:]

>Ordinary Tier 1 Golem (Cost: 25 Mana)
>Spearman Tier 1 Golem (Cost: 50 Mana)
>D-Rank Spearman Tier 1 Golem (Cost: 100 Mana)

Alec’s eyes lit up as he read through the options, it was clear that the choices were based on the golem’s current fighting specialisation, except for the first, which offered no special enhancements.

He didn’t even consider the ordinary option, with a limited number of golems he could maintain, every one of them had to count.
His mind was already made up: the D-Rank Spearman Golem.
Though It would cost more mana, yes—but to him if the cost was higher, then so would be the payoff.

Just as he was about to mentally confirm the evolution, Agnes called out, asking about their next move.

Snapping back to reality, Alec realized he didn’t have the mana to spare, he couldn’t afford the 100 mana required to evolve the golem, not yet as he was still drained from using his mana to craft earth spears for his golems earlier.
With a deep breath, he closed the system window. For now, the battle awaited.

He pushed those thoughts aside for the moment; all of his golems, except for Titan, were safely stored in his space pouch.
Titan, with his massive shield and mace strapped to his back, continued to serve as Alec’s stalwart protector as they advanced toward the north gates.

Alec turned to address the group while still juggling towards their location, while instructing those with long-range spells to conserve their mana until he gave the order, as Titan would handle their defence in the meantime.
Arthur raised a fair concern about whether Titan could or would protect anyone other than Alec, considering the golem’s intelligence and loyalty.

Knight also voiced his doubt.
“If Titan’s guarding us, who’s guarding you?”

“I’m not helpless,” Alec replied calmly.
“I have other golems with me.”

Knight nodded in acknowledgment, but Agnes scoffed, arms folded as she eyed Alec with skepticism.
“Sure, but none of them are on Titan’s level,” she remarked bluntly.
“It’s obvious you poured all your resources into building him, without your trusty shield, you would be exposed and vulnerable to some type of attacks on you.”

“Well, I might not have Titan, but I still have my fierce spear.” Alec said, smirking slightly
He was referring to the golem he planned to evolve into a D ranked spearmanship golem, but his clansmen misunderstood, assuming he meant his own spear skills.

As they reached the battlefield, a brutal scene unfolded before them, the zombies had already broken through the northern wall and were savagely attacking everything in sight, the core members of the Lanzt family were still holding the line, but their exhaustion was evident, they had no time or space to recover their mana.

Each member of the Lanzt family had a retainer shielding them, allowing them to fire wind blades at the undead.
The tactic was effective, but it drained their mana rapidly, and Alec’s group could see that they wouldn’t last much longer.

As his grandfather had warned, Alec scanned the area and confirmed there were no Tier 2 zombies present.
Just like the Gordon Clan, the Lanzt family also seems to be using this battle to temper their younger generation through real combat.

As it was an opportunity they couldn’t afford to waste, especially if they got into a real blood moon battle without any experience of killing, where the ever-present threat of higher-ranking enemies targeting the weaker ones for elimination fought, then they might just die as cannon fodders.

“Follow behind me and my golems, conserve your mana for now—I’ll need all of you when my stamina runs out. For now, I and my golems need to sharpen our earth spears with zombie blood,” Alec commanded, feeling a rush of heat pulse through his body.
With determined steps, he surged toward the battlefield, aiming to circle around the Lanzt family’s formation, as he moved, he released his golems from the space pouch, deploying them as the front line.
While his clan members stayed behind under his orders, guarded from the chaos for now.

Walking beside Titan, Alec glanced at another golem, the one with the highest battle power among his ordinary golem unit, though it hadn’t evolved yet, however there were clear signs of intelligence surfacing.
Alec instinctively knew this must be the golem that had reached maximum growth.

“This is going to be fun,” he muttered, just as his golems smashed into the horde of zombies.
With precise and practiced thrusts, Alec and his spear-wielding golems tore through the encirclement, leaving his fellow Gordon clan members wide-eyed in awe.
They had seen Alec’s spear skills before, but now, his movements were faster, sharper, and somehow more graceful in their lethality.

“Is it just me, or has Alec gotten even better with that spear?” Agnes asked, her eyes glued to his performance.
“There’s nothing beautiful about this kind of art... it’s bloody and brutal,” Arthur replied, the memory of his first kill still lingering in his thoughts.

Alec gripped his spear with the confidence of a seasoned warrior, fighting like a legendary general from ancient China, each and every move of his was deliberate, driven by the system’s embedded knowledge in him.
He had resolved to master all the basic spear skills gifted to him, and with each kill, he was getting closer.

With the spearmanship mastery now at the level five, his movements were more fluid and efficient, the weapon feeling like an extension of his body, there was no resistance in his wrists, no hesitation in his strikes, it was as though he had trained with the spear for a decade.

Titan, however, fought with a contrasting style, where Alec danced through the horde, Titan demolished it—cleaving heads with ruthless efficiency, for any zombie lucky enough to survive Titan’s initial strike, there was no escape from the follow-up, as the golem’s spiked mace would spin like a drill while embedded in flesh, due to the fact that Titan rotated his weapon which is stuck at the place he struck, turning heads into pulp with grotesque precision.

None of the zombies’ attacks could pierce through Titan’s massive shield, which he held firmly in front of Alec, blocking every blow with mechanical precision, with his right hand in constant motion, Alec struck down the undead without pause, taking lives in the name of the Gordon Clan.

“If you know the Stone Bullet spell, now’s the time to use it. Aim for the head—don’t worry about missing, use this as practice to improve your accuracy. We’ll handle the clean-up,” Alec finally gave them an instruction, his voice clear and commanding amid the chaos.
As the zombies began to divert their attention toward the new threat, a noticeable shift occurred, the pressure on the Lanzt family’s left flank began to ease.

Turning in confusion, both the zombies and Lanzt family members saw five young figures wearing the signature attire of the Gordon Clan tearing through the encircling horde from behind.

“Those clothes… they’re from the Gordon Clan, however those are low level robes, which means it’s their younger generation that came to our aid,” said a white-haired boy among the Lanzt youth.

“Help us? Or are they trying to show off that their brats can do what we couldn’t?” another Lanzt child sneered bitterly, his mana nearly depleted.
“No… Look closer,” the white-haired boy replied, eyes narrowing.
“That one at the front, he’s not even relying on spells, he’s been fighting with sheer physical strength… and with those eight golems by his side, It’s obvious he’s their leader.”

The statement silenced the complaints of the other Lanzt youths, watching Alec and his golems move with such fearlessness and precision, while the four others from the Gordon squad who provided support from the rear also left a deep impression on them.
The Gordon team followed Alec’s lead closely, launching waves of stone bullets into the ranks of the Undead, as Alec moved fluidly among them, finishing off the stragglers and guiding their formation forward.

Together, the synchronized efforts of the golems strike force and the ranged spell casters created a flawless spear-and-shield tactic, carving a clean path through the undead as they advanced to support the Lanzt family.

However, everything changed when he awakened his dormant system and gain abilities that made him unique.
