The Golem Mage

Legion Takes Action.

Legion Takes Action.

Jul 29, 2025

[Status Tab]

Agility: 11+
Endurance: 8+

Alec could only wait until his mana recovered to at least 20 before consulting the system spirit again, he was eager to ask questions, particularly about how he had levelled up so quickly.
Sure, he earned bonus EXP for every enemy his golems killed, but the speed at which his level increased felt unnatural—too fast, even accounting for Titan’s overwhelming kill count, the other golems weren’t nearly as lethal as Titan was.
Something else had to be influencing his growth, and the mystery gnawed at him.
Then suddenly, a voice startled him, one that didn’t belong to the familiar system.
It wasn’t a hallucination. Alec was sure of that.
The voice was strange, almost genderless, and for a moment he thought it had faded, until it came again, clearer this time.
His eyes snapped toward the newly evolved golem. Its mouth, hidden beneath the T-shaped visor, moved.
“Master... my name? What is my name?”
The Tier 1 golem spoke, and Alec’s curiosity exploded.
“Damn... I’ll just wait till after this battle to figure out what’s going on. For now, I’ll call you Legion,” Alec said, scratching his head.
“You look like one of those ancient Roman foot soldiers, even if you’re the gear you’re wearing is like some gladiator set.”
Despite the battlefield around him, Alec couldn’t suppress the questions flooding his mind.
“I hope you grow with me... maybe even become as strong as a legion commander someday.”
He spoke with a gleam in his eye, his excitement barely contained, the idea that this golem could speak, that it is truly sentient filled him with anticipation.
From what he’d seen in the stats, Legion had already surpassed Titan in strength and speed, it was now his ultimate trump card.
“Well, Titan’s always been built for defence anyway, I’ll upgrade him too... if I get the chance.” Alec muttered, glancing at his stalwart golem still doing his job clearing the zombies with the rest of the golems.
Unable to contain his excitement, a star-shaped glint appeared in Alec’s eyes betraying his anticipation, he was finally about to communicate with his first true partner.
This elite-rank golem wasn’t just powerful; it had spoken, proving it was something far more special.
The Lanzt family, who had witnessed everything, couldn’t shake a growing sense of unease.
Something felt off, especially the way the guy who had just slaughtered a wave of zombies was now interacting so casually with his golem.
But what truly unsettled them was the overwhelming aura radiating from the creature, even from afar, the pressure it exuded sent chills down their spines.
“It’s just a newly promoted Low Tier 1 golem! So why am I even feeling scared?” a girl from the Lanzt family blurted out.
“Shhh, don’t say anything stupid, have you ever heard of a mage upgrading a golem’s rank like that? It didn’t even use any materials, he powered it with pure mana. That guy is not normal.” Someone snapped.
“And if you’re paying attention, that golem’s aura is even more intense than that big one wielding a mace, taking it on would be like fighting three top Tier 1 cultivators at once.”
“No matter what, we can’t afford to make an enemy of that guy,” Bryan Lanzt warned, readying another wind blade.
Though capable of firing more than one per minute, he had restrained himself to conserve mana, following Alec’s earlier suggestion. And now that he was close to full recovery, he started to plan on the low to unleash his full strength when the Peak Tier 1 zombie revealed itself, hoping to land the finishing blow and steal the credit from the Gordon clan mages.

Alec noticed a new addition to his status tab now that he had officially named it Legion.
Curious to test the intelligence of his elite, speaking golem, Alec gave a calm but firm command.
“Legion, find the strongest zombie in the crowd and eliminate it,” he said, pointing toward the surging horde.
“Is he insane? He’s... talking to his golem now,” the girl from earlier muttered in disbelief.
Though they couldn’t hear his words, the Lanzt family clearly saw Alec explaining something directly to his golem, not barking an order, but having a conversation.
“Sheila, please stop talking about them like that. I understand that the leader of this Gordon clan group is quite a bit unorthodox, but look at the others,” one of the Lanzt family members said calmly.
“They’ve followed his commands without hesitation, despite their impressive magical talents,” another added.
“Have none of you noticed yet? Even if our wind blades spell are stronger, any one of those four could kill many of you instantly in a real fight.” Bryan cut in, his tone sharp.
“Their casting speed with Stone Bullet is deadly, they don’t even hesitate, and they don’t miss that much from short range,” Bryan continued, frustrated that his peers hadn’t caught on.
After rebuking them, Bryan turned his gaze back to Alec, and what he saw nearly made his heart stop.
His eyes widened, disbelief etched across his face.
The newly evolved golem, at Alec’s command, was now jogging straight into the heart of the zombie horde, with almost casual precision, it flicked its spear, exploding the heads of any zombie that strayed too close.
It moved like a predator among prey—unhurried, confident, and devastatingly efficient.
Shockwaves rippled from each strike it made, tearing apart nearby zombies or blasting chunks from their bodies, yet it didn’t pause even for a moment, clearly focused on a singular goal.
A deep, guttural roar echoed as the golem neared its target, while spinning and swinging its spear in such a controlled, fluid manner that no zombie could breach a five-meter radius around it.
It had created a death zone, its own personal domain where any zombie that entered was obliterated by a single flick from the spear’s base, without even using its spear blade.
“Unbelievable… When did Alec get another Tier 1 golem?” Arthur cried out.
“I couldn’t even take on Titan, and now there’s this monster?”
“Look at how it wields that spear… It’s graceful. Perfect. Like a master spearman,” Agnes said in awe.
“No doubt about it. Alec keeps breaking limits the moment we think he’s reached them,” Knight muttered, stunned.
The younger generation of the Gordon family murmured among themselves, visibly relieved now that Legion had entered the battlefield, as the pressure on them drop massively, it was clear now—something, or someone, was directing the zombies toward Legion… as though they recognized Legion as a major threat.
And they were determined to bring Legion down.
