The Golem Mage

Prelude To The Final Fight.

Prelude To The Final Fight.

Jul 29, 2025

“Wow, no wonder we never got attacked by Tier 1 zombies, they must’ve been guarding something or someone,” Arthur exclaimed, pointing toward the seven approaching Tier 1 zombie figures that was heading towards Legion.
The group consisted of mixed-type of zombies—strength, agility, and defence all rushing toward Legion, attempting to intercept his advance toward whatever it was they were protecting.
Alec narrowed his eyes in thought.
“So, this Peak Tier 1 zombie can control others? Looks like that old man wasn’t lying, hierarchy really does exist among the undead.”
The Lanzt family mages at the back stared in awe as Legion suddenly dashed forward, fearlessly charging towards the seven Tier 1 zombies.
“How is it this giving of that strong aura? Am I hallucinating? Please tell me I’m the only one seeing this,” Sheila Lanzt asked, clearly shaken.
“Unfortunately, you’re not,” someone muttered beside her.
“This is exactly why I never wanted to pick a fight with that guy, he’s still hiding something. His golems aren’t normal.” Bryan added, clenching his fists.
“zombies usually have less advantage against golems, as the zombies can’t feed on them, so they typically ignore golems because the have no signs of life or overwhelm them with sheer numbers if they are a bother.” He continued
“But that doesn’t explain the massive advantage his golems have, they’re not just tools like most golems we use to read about, they’re just like geniuses among golems, especially that new one.”
“Just watch how it moves. It’s not about brute force alone—the precision in its spear work, the fluidity of its movement… it’s technique. And that’s what gives it the upper hand.” Bryan’s voice grew tight with frustration as he continued explaining, realizing that his misjudgement had placed his family in danger.
Now it was clear to him why the aura of Legion alone had terrified them, it wasn’t just strength, it was something beyond what they could comprehend.
“Scary,” one of the Lanzt members whispered.
As the seven Tier 1 zombies entered Legion’s five-meter range, the golem shifted its grip on the spear, spinning it fluidly in one hand while holding its shield steady in the other, its posture changed, it no longer acted casual, but battle-ready.
The seven zombies began to circle him in a semi-formation, sensing a worthy opponent.
Legion’s demeanour became focused, almost calm, as he squared off against the incoming threat.
“Watching is so much better than getting my own hands dirty,” Alec muttered with a smirk, standing back and observing with pride as his newest creation prepared to unleash hell.
The first zombie to charge at Legion was a low-tier 1 strength-type zombie, it let out a deafening roar and lunged forward, claws extended, unable to wait any longer, however before it even entered Legion’s five-meter death zone, its head exploded like a crushed watermelon.
“Isn’t that the same technique Titan uses?” Arthur muttered aloud, not addressing anyone directly as he noticed Alec stepping forward into the front line, stone spear in hand.
“Yeah, it is. But don’t ask me how to replicate it with a sword—I can’t even do that with a spear,” Alec replied.
He was certain that Legion had incorporated Titan’s mace techniques into his attack, using the spear like a bladed mace, it was only possible because Legion, like all of Alec’s golems, could share combat skills with each other, though they still needed practice to master them fully.
With a precise, brutal slash, Legion cleaved through the zombie’s skull, splitting it cleanly down the middle.
The blow was so forceful that both halves of the head were flung away, leaving no trace of its original form.
Legion remained perfectly poised, spear outstretched, his grip firm at the very end of the shaft.
Alec gave a subtle shake of his head.
“Clear out the rest of the stragglers, the leader of this horde will be dealt with shortly, this hunt is almost over,” Alec commanded.
“Yes, boss!” the four Gordon clan members echoed in unison.
A shadow crossed Alec’s expression, and a sudden urge to vomit came over him.
“Why the hell are they calling me boss? I should let Titan beat Arthur’s ass for this,” he thought bitterly, already plotting the “training session” where Titan would rough Arthur up, all under the guise of training discipline.
Every time they called him “boss,” it made him feel like he was some type of underground gang leader.
But to his clan members, it wasn’t strange at all, they simply wanted to acknowledge his power and leadership.
To some of them, calling Alec “boss” felt more than right, as they found it hard to call him leader just like the patriarch, Alec definitely had earned their respect for that to happen for cases like Agnes and Knight.
To those two Alec was merely the leader of the younger generation—not a legitimate head of the clan, and since they weren’t ready to fully acknowledge him as their leader, they settled on calling him “Boss.”
Arthur suddenly felt an intense gaze burning into him.
Using his heightened senses, he traced it back to Alec, who was staring at him with such malicious intent that a cold shiver ran down his spine, he could already envision the hellish training that awaited him.
“What the fuck did I do to offend this devil? I’m still struggling to catch up to Titan, and now there’s another golem even stronger than me. I’m just a damn side character!”
“How the hell did I become the target of such a wicked boss?” Arthur lamented internally.
He could already picture himself being tossed around like a ragdoll by the new elite golem.
But just as those thoughts consumed him, a collective gasp echoed from the Lanzt family behind.
Fuelled by his frustration, Arthur turned on them.
“Why the hell are you all down here?! The boss clearly told you to stay up there and keep firing your damn wind blades!”
But none of them responded, they didn’t even glance his way, their eyes remained fixed ahead, their faces pale with disbelief.
Arthur, now curious despite himself, turned to see what had stunned them, and what he saw left him breathless.
All seven Tier 1 zombies that had surrounded Legion were dead, their heads neatly split open, it had all happened in an instant.
Only the first had its skull completely obliterated, an execution.
The others had been killed cleanly, methodically.
“That thing’s not just a newly promoted Tier 1. It’s a monster, as long as that golem’s around, I don’t think you even qualify as Alec’s rival.” Knight muttered beside Agnes.
“You think I don’t know that? I’ll train even harder. I’ll catch up to him no matter what.” Agnes snapped, her fists clenched.
“That’s why he’s our boss,” Brandon said calmly, surprising them both. He rarely spoke, and almost never that directly.
They turned to look at Alec, standing tall at the front beside Arthur, his expression was calm, unreadable, yet commanding.
Surrounded by his powerful golems and Titan clearing the battlefield with brutal ease, Alec’s presence radiated dominance.
“Yeah, he is the boss,” Knight said, grinning as he admired the sight before him.
If Alec had heard that, he’d have undoubtedly doubled Arthur’s training just for the fun of it.
“ROAAAAARRRRR—!” A guttural, bone-chilling roar echoed across the battlefield.
From the shadows emerged a massive zombie, towering above even Legion, its grotesque body was covered in jagged, torn flesh, and its limbs ended in long, razor-sharp claws.
Along with rows of wicked teeth that glinted under the light, making the Lanzt family instinctively recoil.
Even Bryan, who had previously boasted about killing it, faltered as he saw the creature in its full, monstrous form.
Rumours had spread among the Lanzt retainers that a Peak Tier 1 zombie was behind the breach of the northern wall and why they were swiftly defeated, and now that theory stood before them, very much real.
The zombie’s chest was unnaturally muscular, almost plated like armour, which immediately caught Alec’s eye.
Without hesitation, Alec activated his system.
[Inspect]
[Speed Demon Zombie]
Specialty: Speed and Claw
Level: Peak Tier One
Battle Power: 200
“Huh… looks like my Inspect skill just levelled up again,” Alec muttered.
“Maybe I should spam it a bit more to get it to evolve faster. It’s been ridiculously helpful.”
He smirked to himself, then turned his attention to the real threat ahead.
“Now for the final fight,” Arthur said, grinning and running a hand through his hair, visibly thrilled.
The remaining unclassified zombies were barely a concern now. Alec’s level 0 golems were mopping them up with ruthless precision, all eyes shifted to the battlefield, as the real battle had was just about to begin between Legion and the Peak Tier 1 Zombie.
