Every second of the experimentation felt endless.
My torso, arms, and legs were altered–veins replaced by high-conductivity wires that connected my brain chip, now acting like my actual brain. If my biological brain were to ever be destroyed, the brain chip would keep me alive.
My limbs became machines and my ribcage was reconstructed from alloy plating, and synthetic material was layered below my skin to mimic my original appearance.
They also modified my eyes, or rather, they scoped them out and replaced them with similar-looking ones with advanced sensors that emit a faint, blue, eerie glow if you look closely.
My skin looks normal, but underneath it, it's all mechanical, built to look like my former self. I became something less human, more like a robot than an actual human.
Ai Suzuki, the female scientist before, wasn't like the other experimenters or like Takeshi at all; she was kind and the only one who seemed to care about my feelings. She couldn't stand the blood and gore of me being tormented, so she decided not to join in the experimentation.
Many days pass, and I sit there on the experimentation chair, bound by the reinforced straps that block my strength. But let me tell you something, if those binds weren't there, the whole research facility and military base would be a blood bath.
After the research was done, nearly all my emotions were gone. All that remains from me is logic and the endless pain I still suffer, even though the torture was finished.
Between the days where I have been tortured, staring at the walls, floors, and the occasional conversations between Ai and me were the only entertainment I had. Yes, very boring, but I'd rather be bored than experience long, painful.
A day later, after the finished project of my transformation of a human to a cyborg, everything was quiet, very quiet; the male scientist stopped coming to my room to focus on the war, and the same with the other scientists. It was only Ai that came to the room to talk to me.
“I am surprised that they haven’t cut off your long hair, Rei,” she told me as she walked through the steel door.
“They probably will, but I won’t let them. Though, maybe I should cut it a little.”
“That’s what I am saying. The people experimenting on you said that your long hair is always getting in the way of experimentation, but the project is done, so you don't have to worry about them cutting your hair.”
“...”
“I like it. Your long hair, so beautiful, I bet you used loads of shampoo to make it this silky and smooth.”
“I only showered two times a week before I came inside this room. Plus, my hair is kinda dirty now, from all the experimentation, blood, and sweat.”
“It still looks silky and smooth,” she said.
She extended her hand, and her hand was about to touch my hair, but she pulled back at the last second.
“I guess. Anyway, why are we talking about hair? Isn’t there something you should be telling me or something?”
“Yeah, today is going to be your last experimentation.”
“For real? Didn't that guy say that yesterday was the last day?”
“Well…he said he needed to make some changes, he wants you to be even stronger…” she said as she looked away from me.
For some reason, she looked sad. Is it because I was experimented on very painfully? I don't care, though. I nearly lost all my emotions, plus I'm supposed to be a weapon now, working for the government to end the war.
“What’s wrong?” I asked blankly; I didn't ask what was wrong out of concern, just curiosity. It didn't matter if she was sad.
“I’m… just really sorry that you got experimented on just so you can just be a weapon to the government.”
I looked at her like she was a dumb goldfish. “I don’t care, as long as the war ends, I am fine.”
Then, I heard a knock on the door. It was a male scientist. I probably forgot to tell you guys his name, but it’s Takeshi Yamamoto.
“Oi, stop talking to the test subject and focus on taking notes, woman.”
“Sorry!” Ai replied, and she quickly walked away to another room.
“I always forget how rude and disrespectful you are, Takeshi.”
“Call me, sir, you Monkey. You are just a test subject–and worth nothing unless you end the war between Japan and China."
“Today's the last time you guys will be experimenting on me, right?”
“Yeah, and who told you, the woman?”
“Yeah, of course.”
He sighed and then released me from the chains and brought me to a different room. There was a large tube. And there were a lot of different machines, probably to turn off and on the tube or something like that.
“Looks like a scene from a Spider-Man movie I watched before. You know, when the gre-.”
“Shut up and get in the tube, you damned Monkey,” he cut me off, how rude of him.
“Fine.”
I got inside the tube, and Takeshi locked me inside. He pressed a button, and loads of green liquid went inside the tube with me. I put on a similair-looking underwater breathing mask so I could breathe inside the tube.
