I Died That Day

What am I Missing Here?

What am I Missing Here?

Aug 01, 2025

"So we wouldn't be able to talk about this in the car then," I said.

"I hope you're not too upset about it, Katy," Mason said, "But we certainly won't be alone in the car, so it's impossible for us to talk about much of anything really."

"Aren't you dragging this on for too long, Mason?" I asked.

"I just want to spend more time alone with you is all," Mason said.

"I get that," I said, "But isn't the prince waiting? It would be selfish to keep him waiting. The first prince from my reality was a rather impatient fellow."

"Okay, fine," Mason said, "But can I steal a kiss from my beloved before we bring you to the castle as a prisoner?" I sighed, this was a bit ridiculous, but I didn't have any reason to say no.

"Sure," I said. Mason kissed me again. But when he pulled back, he smiled.

"I'll find a way to make this work out," Mason said, "Even if you aren't my Katy, you're still Katy Percy. I don't think we'll have too much of an issue, even if it's you here. You and her seem to have rather similar dispositions and I hate having my plans fall through."

"You're ridiculous, Mason," I said. Mason chuckled.

"Shall we go, my beloved?" Mason asked. I knew I couldn't get through to him even if I tried, because this ridiculous idea was not going to affect his reputation poorly, but it would affect mine poorly. We both walked out of the room, him with a firm grip on my bound wrists and me trying to look clueless and innocent. "We will take her now. In her interogation, she didn't give me any clues, but I'm sure if she stands in front of the Crown Prince, she will speak." My mother looked at me with a shocked expression, like she had been since the bright light had moved me from my own world to this one.

"She didn't seem the type," a servant girl that I didn't recognize said. Several of the other servants mumured, but none of my family members even tried to help me. My younger sister, Genevive, now 8 years old, looked at me with fear in her eyes. Or at least, I assumed it was Genevive, as her facial shape was the same, but her eye color and hair color were both lavender in my world, but here, her eye color was blue and her hair color was golden. I didn't get a good look at anyone else before I was dragged into the car, which was exactly as Mason had described it. The car I got dragged into had a wall between me and the two in the front seat with a little part in the middle that looked like it could move. I knew that Mason was in the one seat, as he said he would be driving, but I had no clue who was sitting next to him. The littled window opened up after a loud noise and the car started to move. Mason's subordinate was looking through it, but I couldn't tell who he was. His hair was cut rather short, but it was so dark it was almost black. His eyes were green with flecks of gold, like they were more like a field than a pair of eyes.

"Are you sure she's the one, Captain Prince?" He said, I recognized his voice instantly, he was Marius Blackrozen, Mason's vice-captain.

"Yes," Mason said, "And I'm terribly sorry for asking so much of you and our team without telling them exactly what this is about. I hope they'll understand. Unfortunately, I can only trust you with these matters, Marius."

"So, you told Vice-captain Blackrozen?" I asked, "But you didn't tell the rest of your subordinates?" Mason flinched, but didn't look back.

"I had to tell someone," Mason said, "But I also wanted to make a huge scene so that your mother couldn't force you to stay there. Marius was the only one who would think it was funny and do it anyway even though it's technically a lie. Your reputation will not be affected, but now you can officially cut ties with your troublesome family. I'll make sure that nothing would ruin this for either of us. Though I might've taken it a bit overboard with the charges, I do believe that would keep your family from forcing you to stay with them. I know how much trouble they are for you."

"You really did go overboard, Captain Prince," Marius said, "But you'll have your bride and that's all you really wanted. I'm glad that you don't have to be worried about becoming an old maid any longer, Lady Percy. Everyone has heard about you turning down marriage requests for years now, and now that you're 24, it's a good time to settle down."

"I only wanted to marry Mason," I said, "But he is the first in line to the Dukedom, so my mother told him not to. She gave him every excuse in the book, but now that Genevive is 8, things would probably be different."

"Makes sense," Marius said, "Captain Prince here is a fine man. It is a bit troublesome for the rest of us, but I feel like maybe he did the right thing by doing this."

"If you say so, Vice-Captain Blackrozen," I said.

When we arrived at the castle, Mason and Marius were the only ones who came in with me, the other guards didn't arrive at the castle. Mason had unlocked the bindings on my wrists and held my hand as we walked into the castle. Marius left us a few doors down from the Crown Prince's room, but Mason continued to hold my hand as he knocked on the door to the Crown Prince's study. The door flew open as the Crown Prince seemed to have rushed over to open the door. This was not the Crown Prince from my world, he was younger and had curly Platinum blonde hair with golden eyes. The Crown Prince from my world was older than Mason and I, but this one had to be no more than 16 years old.

"Mason, this is your bride?" the Crown Prince said after we both entered the room.

"Yes, Crown Prince Evan," Mason said. Wait, Evan was the 3rd prince in my world. What happened to Crown Prince Elijah or the 2nd Prince Eric? Maybe I shouldn't ask.

"I think I could come up with a way for the two of you to marry," Prince Evan said, "But give me 45 minutes and the usual candy." Mason chuckled and handed over a bag of candy from the inner pocket of his coat.

"Here," Mason said. Prince Evan took the bag and opened it, his eyes widening as he looked at the candies.

"There's 27 more than usual," Prince Evan said, "I think I now understand the severeity of the situation. I'll speak to royal father right away." Prince Evan put the bag of candy down on a table and rushed out of the room.

"We might as well sit and wait for him," Mason said. I nodded and we both sat next to each other on one of the couches.

We sat there in silence for what felt like 25 minutes, until Prince Evan came back into the room with a smile on his face.

"Royal father is willing to have you married tomorrow," Prince Evan said, "He'll be here in a few moments to discuss the details, but he thinks that your marriage would be a good thing for our country." Prince Evan sat down on the couch in front of us.

A few seconds later, the King, who somehow looked exactly as I remembered him. Golden blonde hair that was going grey and the same golden eyes as Prince Evan. We all stood.

"Lady Percy and Duke Prince, I have heard about your sistuation," King Archibald said, "I think it is a wise decision to marry the two of you, but I have to ask you why you only asked for it now?"

"We've wanted this for a long time," Mason said, "But we haven't had enough reason to ask you before. I thought that Lord and Lady Percy would give in after asking them more than once, but it seems that they never want Katy to ever marry."

"I see," King Archibald said, "We will hold your wedding tomorrow, but mind you, it would have to be a small secretive wedding, because we can't do anything too extravagant in such little time. It will be held in the throne room tomorrow after my usual morning metting, but the guests will only be the ones at the meeting or those already in the castle. I actually would've preferred if you two would've wedded sooner, but I know how much of a problem the Percy family is when it comes to their daughters adn daughters-in-law, so I'll give the Percy family a slight punishment for keeping you two apart. Having a time-travel researcher and my Captain of the Guard married is such a wonderful thing. I can't wait to tell my wife." Then, he just stood up and left. I was completely dumbfounded.

"Did you just experience what I did?" I asked, "Or am I dreaming?"

"It is just a dream," a voice that I didn't recognize from a person who wasn't there said.

Katheryn "Katy" Percy was born into the land of magic and fantasy, but all of a sudden, with a burst of bright light, the magic was gone, as were all the fantasy things, like dragons and beastmen. Her hair, which was pale pink, was now brown, and her Mother's eyes were now blue instead of purple.
