Chapter 13: Patch Update
The patch notes were minor—just bug fixes, new cosmetics, and minor balance changes. But for Miyu and Ren, it felt like a symbolic reset. A fresh slate.
Their avatars stood side by side in the grove, both dressed in matching festival gear from the recent event. Cherry blossom petals drifted around them in gentle loops. A soft in-game wind carried the lull of flutes and strings from a nearby celebration zone.
Miyu smiled. “We look ridiculous.”
Ren grinned. “Ridiculously in sync.”
She snorted. “Wow. That was awful.”
They sat near the stream, and for a moment, it felt like they were back at the start—before the raid dramas, the confessions, and the rivals. Just two people, escaping into a world where they could breathe.
“I have something to ask,” Ren said, breaking the silence.
Miyu raised an eyebrow. “Serious voice. Okay. Shoot.”
“Will you... make our first original song together public? Officially?”
Miyu froze. “You mean... upload it?”
He nodded. “On your channel. Or mine. Or both. Doesn’t matter. But it deserves more than just our headphones.”
Her fingers hovered over the keyboard. “It’s scary.”
“I know.”
“But also... maybe it’s time.”
She accepted the file he sent—a finalized version of their live duet. Edited clean, with a gentle fadeout. Their voices layered together.
She listened once. Then twice. Then clicked upload.
By morning, the video had a few hundred views.
By noon, a few thousand.
And by evening, someone had posted it on the same Discord thread where their street performance had first gone viral.
GuildLeaderKai: Did anyone know HanaLune and OblivionHeart were an actual duo IRL? Because this slaps.
BardQueenJin: Wait. That’s THEM?!?
CrimsonShin: Told you she was magic.
RikaTheRogue: Glad they’re finally owning it. Took them long enough.
Miyu blinked at that last comment.
“Was that... shade? Or support?” she asked aloud.
Ren, lying beside her on the couch, peeked at her phone. “Knowing Rika? Probably both.”
She leaned into him. “I’ll take it.”
He wrapped his arm around her. “We’re patching things. One update at a time.”
