Episode 14

INSIDE - The Ship

Fenneco walks down the hallway, hearing her friends' voices echo behind her, before their voices fade. She keeps walking, and she looks down, and there's a transition to her in the past, walking down the hallway of a gray building—looking straight ahead. Every step she takes, the square pattern on the wall shines along with every step she takes. She arrives at a big door, covered in squares (like the ones on her face.)

DIANE : “Come in.”

The doors open and Fenneco walks inside into a large darker gray room, near the back, in the middle is a desk, sitting at it is a cloaked figure.

DIANE : “Anything to report?”

Fenneco keeps her head bowed to the floor.

FENNECO : “Nothing has been out of the ordinary, and everything has been on schedule.”

DIANE : “I see..that is good. Keep it up 09. We will be departing Planet Reintrogh.”

Fenneco nods and she turns away, she starts to walk out of there, but Diane speaks again, and Fenneco stops.

DIANE : “09. I heard you’ve been spending time with 11.”

FENNECO : “..I have.”

DIANE : “Do not let him..influence you. You are quite the asset. It would be a shame if you turned out like..him.”

FENNECO : “Yes. Of course.”

Diane stares, through her hood you can see an eye in the shadow, but then she looks back down.

DIANE : “Good. Dismissed.”

Fenneco nods and walks out through the doors. Transition back to the present. She arrives at the empty cell and she clicks the button on her belt.

FENNECO : “09. Check in. All is accounted for. Out”

She taps the button again, turning it off, pausing for a second, then she starts to walk away—but then she gets a reply. A beep noise.

DIANE : “Hold still.”

Fenneco freezes, and she’s unsure what to do. Stoically as she can, she taps the button.

FENNECO : “For..for what?”

DIANE : “..I am sending someone over, something..is incorrect about the readings I am receiving.”

Another beep, and Fenneco taps the button, turning it off. She looks back at the hallway, then back at the cell. She hangs her head, balling her hands into a fist, and she takes a breath.

FENNECO : (Take a breath)

Fenneco can hear Earl's voice in her head, saying how he misses home (Ep. 13), she looks back up, releasing her hand, and she steps away from the cell.

FENNECO : “..Never thought I would be defying protocol like this.” (Muttering to herself, a lil amused)

RYY : “So you’re a rule breaker?”

Fenneco freezes, and she immediately turns around, hand on belt, about to activate her blaster.

RYY : “Woah, woah”

He holds up his hands and walks closer to her, she notices the lack of a number on his face and his head being hat-less, she calms down a little.

FENNECO : “Humans are not supposed to be outside of their cell.”

Ryy softly smiles, and he points to the empty cell next to them.

RYY : “That human isn’t.”

Fenneco falls silent, but then she gathers her courage again.

FENNECO : “What are you doing here?”

RYY : “Well, I was just kinda..lost. If you helped a human before..think you can help another now?”

Fenneco shakes her head.

FENNECO : “No, that is too dangerous—”

But then she pauses.

FENNECO : “But..humans require companionship, correct? With..other humans?”

RYY : “That is indeed true.” (Soft smile)

She thinks for a moment, and she goes back to a neutral stance.

FENNECO : “Then..alright. You can come with me.”

But then she steps closer to him, looming over a little.

FENNECO : “But do not take a single suspicious action. Affirmative?”

RYY : (smiling calmly) “Affirmative”

..Fenneco nods, and she looks behind him, then back at him.

FENNECO : “Then we should hurry. Follow me.”

She quickly walks away, Ryy following after. When they arrive at the supply room, standing at the door, she looks towards Ryy.

FENNECO : “To repeat, do not do anything weird.”

RYY : “Alright Alright, I understand.”

Fenneco nods and she opens the door, to see the boys playing charades. Fenneco has the blank expression of : ???
