The moment the robot’s voice echoed out — “Prepare to die” — Jordan’s eyes widened. “You’ve got to be kidding me!”
Missiles launched from the robot’s shoulders, screaming through the air like fire-breathing dragons.
Savaana didn’t flinch. “Behind me!” she shouted, and in an instant, she raised her hand. A glowing violet force field shimmered into existence around them, the missiles exploding harmlessly against it.
Jordan stared, impressed. “Okay, that’s cool.”
“I know,” Savaana replied with a smirk. Her long black hair fluttered in the wind as her purple eyes gleamed with power. “I can create anything I can imagine. Don’t get too jealous.”
“Jealous? I—” Jordan started to say, but then the ground trembled as the robot charged them.
Savaana shot into the air, flying gracefully above the battlefield. “Distract it, Speedy!”
“What do you mean—” But before he could finish, Jordan instinctively dashed to the side, and everything around him blurred. “WHOA!”
He skidded to a stop behind the robot. “I have super speed?! Okay, I officially take back everything I said about this day being the worst ever.”
Savaana hurled sharp violet constructs — spears, daggers, spikes — all formed from energy. The robot staggered, turning to fire again, but Jordan zipped behind it, punching it in the back at lightning speed. The impact sent sparks flying, but the robot didn’t go down easily.
“I said keep it distracted, not poke it with a love tap!” Savaana yelled.
“Well excuse me for not knowing how to super punch! I just got these powers ten minutes ago!”
They both paused and glared at each other mid-battle.
“This is not the time to argue!” Savaana snapped.
“Then stop yelling at me!”
“Then stop messing up!”
“Then show me how to use this stuff!”
The robot roared, unleashing a beam of energy — a narrow miss, but it snapped them out of their fight.
“Right. Focus,” Jordan said.
“Finally,” Savaana muttered.
Jordan took a breath, felt the crackle of energy in his chest, and let it guide him. He sprinted forward, dodging the robot’s blast, then ran up the side of a nearby building and launched himself off. As he flew through the air, he called out, “NOW!”
Savaana summoned a massive energy hammer in the sky, slammed it downward — and BOOM. The robot collapsed in a smoking heap of metal.
Panting, they looked at each other and grinned.
“Nice timing,” Savaana said.
“Teamwork,” Jordan replied, holding up a hand.
They high-fived.
Just then, a shadow fell over them. A figure descended from the sky, hovering in a jet-black suit that pulsed with glowing white lines. He had short black hair, a stern expression, and the unmistakable aura of power.
Jordan took a step back. “Wait… are you… Atomic Man?”
The figure landed softly. “Not quite,” he said, straightening. “Name’s Atomix. I’m from another dimension.”
Savaana raised an eyebrow. “You’ve got about ten seconds to explain what’s going on.”
Atomix glanced at the destroyed robot, then at the two teens. “Looks like I came at the right time.”
He folded his arms. “We need to talk.”
