After Dani called for backup, members of the Ikapati clan came over to the farm to handle the other men in the trucks. They blindfolded them, tied their hands together, then placed them inside a van. The cows that were about to be stolen were set free and the farmers and the director of the farm thanked Dani and apologized to Xavier, who returned in his male form.
Xavier went inside the van where they kept the livestock thieves, leaving Dani to drive. They followed the van and the cars in convoy. They went back to the capital but instead, did not go to Robin’s residence but to the compound where the Ikapati clan lived.
Unlike The Sidapa House, which was a large mansion that led several annexes where the clan members would live, the Ikapati compound was an enclosed area with several tall buildings. It looked like a bunch of several flats and apartments. Some buildings needed a paint job and looked like it could also use some reconstruction. It looked like the buildings had survived the war.
The Ikapati members led the thieves, who were still blindfolded and tied, into a small one floor building. Dani and Zephyr accompanied Xavier, who was the last to enter the building. The building, with one floor, had several rooms inside. The group went inside a room which had a staircase leading underground, to a basement.
Once they entered the stairs, a stark scent of iron hit Zephyr’s sense of smell. The basement was damp, with sounds of dripping liquid. Zephyr could also smell as if something rotten had just been cleaned up.
Inside the basement was a metal table and several metal chairs. They had the men tied to the chairs. The acoustics of the room made it so that everyone could hear everyone's breath. The clan members took off the blindfolds of the thieves.
“What are you going to do to us? You can’t drink our blood. Your kind has a truce.”
“I know,” Xavier smiled in a twisted expression. “But we have found other ways to get information.”
The clan members tied connected ropes to the thieves’ legs, close to the edge of their pants. They tried to fight back, kicking, but the member’s vampirical strength persisted. The thick rope looked wet with a liquid that had an awful strong scent.
“Gentlemen, right now, I am holding a rope connected to all of your legs. This rope contains gasoline. Now this is a very long rope, so I’ll set up a flame right now, and while it’s burning, you can still have some time to think of what you’ll say before your pants go up in flames.”
Xavier pulled out a lighter and lit the rope. The thieves, panicking, struggled against the rope, kicking and squirming.
“Tell us who you’re working for and we’ll put out the flame.”
“We don’t know! We don’t know who we’re working for!”
Xavier did not move an inch. Nor did the other clan members. Xavier’s silence and cold stare made the thieves desperate.
“Please have pity! We don’t do anything to the livestock! We were just told to bring them to the Mayari Foundation Hospital.”
Xavier’s face turned to shock, then quickly to a frightening anger. “Put out the fire.” He said.
He looked at Dani and Zephyr, who were there the whole time, watching. “Tell your boss that the damn Mayari clan is framing us!”
