Day 3.
I think they’re gone now. The shadows. The paintings’ eyes aren’t quite so dark anymore. The gas lights are back, but they’re still dim in their glass casings. But they’re back on, and the air isn’t so dark and stifling anymore. I can almost see the rest of the room again. So that’s good, I think.
When the lights went out, I hid in the old dresser for a while. And while I was in there, I found a key. Two keys actually. Both made of an old, rusted gold material. Both with complex, but unique, vine-like designs on the heads and handles. They look almost like the same designs I saw on some of the doorknobs of the doors I tried before this one. They seemed to be locked when I tried them. I wonder if these keys...? Not now, though. I need to wait for the lights to get brighter again, if they even will. I wonder what I should do while I wait?
