The afternoon sunlight flooded into the campus library through the windows, making everything look warm and golden. Epoy was sitting next to the open window, his sketchpad resting on his knee, while his charcoal-stained fingers moved quickly across the paper. Sids leaned casually against the shelf nearby with his arms crossed, watching him closely.
"You’re drawing again," Sids said softly, a small grin on his face. "You seem different when you concentrate. "
Epoy looked up, blinking in surprise. "What do you mean? "
Sids moved closer and knelt beside him. "Your hair," he said, gently tucking some strands behind Epoy’s ear. "It’s lighter. . . I’m sure it was darker before. Now the tips are almost silver-white. "
Epoy blinked, puzzled. "So is yours," he whispered. "Your skin. . . it seems a bit lighter, almost like shadows are wrapping around you in a new way. Your eyes look deeper now. It seems like you’re aware of more than you show. "
They held each other’s gaze for a moment—two boys recalling a past that didn’t seem like a dream anymore. It felt real.
"It feels like we’re transforming," Sids said softly.
"No," Epoy gently corrected him. "We’re coming back. "
"To who we were. . . Sidapa and Libulan," Sids whispered almost too quietly to hear.
Epoy smiled slightly, a mix of sweet and sad emotions. "Do you remember the time you chased me through the clouds because I wouldn’t stop teasing you about your tattoos? "
Sids laughed a little, but his eyes were warm. "You ended up hiding in my shrine for three days. The moon wouldn’t rise right until I forgave you. "
Epoy laughed. "I think I left a crown of flame lilies at your door to apologize. "
"You did. I kept it for a long time," Sids admitted. "Even after you left. "
They fell silent once more, enjoying the quiet and the memories that were coming back to them. Every little change in their reflections reminded them that the divine side of them was waking up.
Their hands instinctively found each other without a word.
"I don’t want to forget again," Epoy whispered.
"You won’t," Sids reassured him, holding his hand tighter. "Not this time. "
In that moment, everything around them seemed to fade—the sound of pages turning, laughter in the distance, even a teacher calling in the hallway. Everything disappeared.
They were Libulan and Sidapa again, but they were also simply Sids and Epoy. Two souls reconnecting under the same sky once more.
