The day was quite loud. It always was. But this time it seemed Quiet. It seemed that way. But it really wasn't. You see, my world is made of clinks of teacups and shatters of glass tables. It is always loud. You'll like the noise of one, but not the other.
It was morning, I had my head in my arms, looking through the window. I wasn't looking at anything specific, no, just focusing on the tree. The sun went through the leaves in a peculair way, to make shapes but you could still see the golden rays hit a flat surface or feel warm. I felt a prescence beside me. I sighed through my nose and turned my head.
I saw a beautiful man. A glass man. His skin was white but pink at the tip of his nose and cheeks. When the sun hit the boy's face, the white glass glowed like frost, and the faint red along his cheekbones looked warm enough to burn. He had gorgeous green eyes, with speckles of gold here and there.
I realised I was caught staring, my cheeks heated up, turning away. Before the man could speak, we heard a throat clear.
"Alright, everyone," Professor Meyers said, flipping a page on her clipboard. "Your midterm project will be a partnered presentation on 'Love Across Boundaries'. That can mean cultural, social, historical--however you choose to interpret it. You'll have four weeks, and you'll present on the last day of the month."
She began scanning her list, calling out names. She decided it would be a partner work with only two members. She got to my name.
"Leo Harper--Imari Kiyonaga. You two will work together."
I nodded, and turned beside me. The boy looked redder than before but I paid it no mind, I didn't even mind the wya his hands were curling around his pants.
"Guess we're partners", I said, taking my head and arms off the table.
He looked up at me, the corner of his mouth twitching like he might smile. I swore I saw a simple. "Looks like it. I'm Imari."
"Leo." I took his hand. Warm, not cold like I'd expected. And I didn't know why, but it felt like I'd done it before. So familiar.
Imari is a glass man who was killed in his past life. Leo was his lover, a human. Their world is different than others, humans are there, of course, but glass folk also live there. Leo, starting his new life, meets a boy in his college class, a glass man. Glass folk were accepted into their world now. The glass man is named Imari. Leo keeps getting flashbacks from a life he believes wasnt his.
