Three Hours Later

I walked with Kari in silence. We were supposed to be looking around for hotels while Claire fixed up the ship. That should have been simple, but it was tough to find a anything with a vacancy. It was supposed to be a festive month for this planet from what I read, which is probably why it took the hotels were filled, but was it really this bad? I mean, not a single hotel we went to has been available.

“Nylah,” I looked at Kari. “She was my best friend.”

She must be talking about the woman in her bracelet. I am honestly surprised to be hearing about her. Especially after things were the way they were.

“Isi, my older sister.”

“That must have been tough,” she said. I nodded.

“It was, and I imagine the same for you.”

“She was the only person I ever loved the way I did.”

A Close-By Furniture Shop

"Her hair looks so nice. I wish I knew how

"She must be a traveler, right?"



"Hopefully not. I would like to get to know her."

I looked at the website of the furnitureshop  on my phone. They say this is the place I can get furniture delivered in a few hours. It may not be luxurious furniture, but it seems worth its price. I walked towards the bed sets. This is the third place I went to that has no twin beds. At this point, someone may have no choice but to share a bed.

I felt my brows furrow. There is no way in hell I am sharing a bed with Alonso. My brows dropped. I know I promoted Kari and him, but the idea of those two sharing a bed and living on the same ship sounds terrifying.

Lately, I have been giving it some thought it is best that on this trip we keep everything neutral. The idea of those two starting a relationship and having someone having their heart broken and being with each other for two years is terrifying. Especially with Alonso being more of a player.

I wonder if she is comfortable sharing a bed with me. I do not mind it but she may. Especially being someone who came from royalty. She may be used to having her own room‌.

“There is only one-bed size here. This is the second place I have seen this at. Were the sales last week that big?” a masculine voice said.

“The sales must be interesting here,” I said.

“They are. Usually, I do not participate in them, but I see that this year I should have.” They said.

“This is about the third store I have been in and I can’t find any twin-size beds,” I said.

“Really? I have been having trouble finding king-size beds.” They said.

“Maybe I will just get a queen‌,” I responded.

“Same, getting a queen sounds best for me as well.”

I looked next to me to see an average-height man with bronze brown skin, green eyes, long locs, and a somewhat muscular build. I felt my cheeks heat up. He’s handsome.

Two Hours Later

The Hotel of Dawn

Kari and I walked into another hotel in annoyance. Just like before, we had trouble finding a hotel that had a vacancy. The two of us were so pissed and exhausted that we had two debates with each other about what to do. We hardly know each other and yet we are having debates like an old married couple.

We stood at the counter and waited for someone to come out.

“Kari, if this hotel has at least one bedroom, we should take it,” I said.

“I agree with you, but if there is one bed, you have no choice but to sleep on the bottom.” She said.

“I am okay with that.”

“Do you think we should play like a couple again? The last hotel seemed to work.” She said.

“That was until an actual married couple came,” I said

"Some of them liked you, now that I think about it. What about flirting with them?" She asked.

"If nothing works here, then I do not mind." She sighed.

“You two seem exhausted.” We jumped as we heard the sudden voice behind us.

We looked at the owner to see a bright and happy woman of average height, a pear-shaped woman with short orange hair, bright red eyes, and pale skin.

“Are you two interested in getting a room today?” We nodded.

“Are there any vacancies?” Kari asked.

“Yes, but there is a catch.”

“And that is?” I asked.

“To receive a room, you must answer a riddle.” Kari and I looked at each other.

“I think we should try another hotel,” I said. She shook her head.

“It will be dark soon. Plus, a riddle may lighten up the mood.”

“You are right, but tell me, do you have the energy to answer a riddle?”

"I do not have much energy for that, but do you have the energy to find another hotel?” I shook my head.

“I guess we have no choice,” I responded.

“What is the riddle?” Kari asked.
