Chapter 7
Tarin and his friends were now living their best lives, they were good students, they were having more excitement, and they were superheroes. What could be better than that? Not what they had to deal with as superheroes. Tarin had the terrible idea of trying to go after an armored car, and defeat it. Not his smartest idea. Tarin was running from bullets, and waiting for his friends.
He whispered into his microphone, “Hey guys, I really need some help over here.”
“Got it, Blue Basher on the way.” Said Max,
“Let’s go!” Tarin ran to the robbers, and punched one. Holding his body for protection. “You wouldn’t hurt your friend would you?” The man stopped shooting seeing his friend, Samuel slowly tied up the man. Then threw his gun away. “Now I would implore you to give up before…”
“Blue Basher!” Max roared as he pummeled the man, knocking him out.
Tarin looked at him, “I had it under control.”
“But I finished it up.” Max said, they both tied the men up and threw away their guns.
“You know there’s more to being a superhero than beating people up, right?” Tarin asked,
“Of course, it’s just a nice plus.” Max said,
They ran back to home base. Which had gotten a major update ever since the fire, they made a training area for one. For two they had gotten more science equipment to test their powers and abilities, and for three they got one of the round tables from superhero movies. Him and Max sat down at the table, they were kinda growing on the place.
Tarin turned to Max, “So what is it like being a superhero?” he asked,
Max smiled “Really cool, but I’m also scared that people might figure out who we are.”
Tarin shook his head, “Like I say every time this comes up, I’ve taken every precaution to make sure nobody finds out our identities.” Tarin said, “Plus we’ve been improving! I’ve made new equipment for Colton and everyone.” Tarin walked over to his workstation that had grown since the fire, and was now holding tons of new gadgets and items that could help them.
Max shook his head again, “What if our parents find out, or villains find out who our parents are.” Tarin had met Mr and Ms Monium. They were super nice, he didn’t want anything happening to them. That's why he’d taken the precautions in the first point to protect the people they loved and cared for.
“Don’t worry I’ve destroyed any connection between our superhero lives and our real lives.” Tarin said,
“What about Sorra and Eithan, they are huge fans of us. They do not know about our superhero lives, but they know a lot about us. Will they find out if we made a mistake?” Max said worryingly.
Tarin shook his head, “There's no way. Like I said, nobody is able to track us down.”
“Except me, your greatest foe!” a voice rang out, they looked up to see Aaron.
“If you do that again I’ll punch you.” Max warned.
Aaron thought for a second, “Noted.” He jumped down, and tried his new trick. He stopped at a certain point, but fell seconds afterward.
“So I see you're getting better at floating.” Tarin said,
“It’s more falling and not getting hurt, I can’t go up yet.” Said Aaron
Colton came out of the shadows, “I need my gadgets asap. People are starting to think my name is wrong.”
Tarin smiled and through him a device he’d made, a gadget belt you could say. “It already has a bunch of stuff in it, and you can use it as you please. I’ve already acquired the necessary materials for them as well.”
Colton jumped a bit, “Thank you!” He put the gadget belt on, which fit perfectly into his suit. “This is going to be sick! What kind of gadgets are there?”
“Well, smoke bombs, I’ll need your suit for an upgrade soon as well. We’ll talk about that later though. There's also strings that you can pull out and fight with, and there's shock shurikens you could call them. When thrown and hits something it electrocutes your opponent.”
Colton pumped his fist “Yes! Did you say new suits?”
“Well I’m still thinking about it, maybe after we get out base to be an actual base then we’ll talk about upgrades.” Tarin got a news update, and it wasn’t good. He sent the broadcast to the big screen, and enlarged it.
“A terrorist group known as The Next Gen, has blown up a building in the city. This building is one of the tallest in its area, and has a probability to kill millions of people. Genex has volunteered to help with the clean up once everything is dealt with.” Tarin muted the news broadcast.
“Come on, let's do this.”
On the way there they all talked about the fact that Genex was involved in the incident, and was promising to clean it up.
“Why would Genex volunteer for this?” Max asked,
“My best guess is trying to hide their tracks, I bet they did it.” Aaron said,
“Well whatever it is save people first find out what's going on later, let's go.” Tarin said, When he got there the firefighters were already on the scene and got everyone out of the building. One less thing to worry about. “Alright the firefighters got most people out of the building, but this things going to come down on the entire city if it does. We have to stop it.”
“How?” Max asked, “We don’t have Colton to go up there.”
That’s when Tarin realized something, “Hey, Aaron. I think it’s time to try something.”
Aaron looked at him, “What!? Right now!?” Train nodded.
“Fly.” Tarin said, “Create a solid under you, we know you can create a solid. Just don’t explode it.” Aaron closed his eyes, and slowly started to levitate. Before he fell, a light flashed. “Alright that’s something. Now try it again, but push yourself more.”
Aaron looked at the burning building, “Alright.” He pushed off the ground, and floated in the air. He then blasted into the sky, and left with hundreds of people looking in awe.
“Alright Aaron are you in.” Tarin asked.
“Ya, this place is weird.” Aaron said, “Like not real weird, you guys have to get up here. You won’t believe it.” Tarin nodded at Max and ran throughout the building all the way to the top penthouse. Aaron was right on the outside it looked like it was burning to the ground, but on the inside it looked normal like nothing was actually happening. Max broke into the fire, and yelled.
“I thought that would hurt more.” He said,
Tarin walked over to a small desk, and saw blueprints for a holographic casing device. “That’s because it’s not real, this place is equipped with holograms. Nobody can expect to see in or out what the real world looks like.” Tarin’s friends came over to look at the blueprints.
“Wait, why would somebody do this?” Aaron asked,
Tarin opened one of the blueprints to see what it was, it read ‘Holographic Mission’ on it. He then turned it over to see the name was scratched off and was replaced with Genex-trap.
Tarin looked at his friends, “Genex.” He showed them, then he felt a pinch in his side. He grabbed at a dart, and slowly became woozy. He looked at his friends, and was able to say one final thing. “Bad.”
