Chapter 2
After a week of planning the six friends found the best way to break into the compound, they were going to jump into the Genex reserve and take the plant’s. Tarin made sure their suits protected them from the plants, and created hydrated tubes so the plants wouldn’t die on them before they could research them. They didn’t remember how many plants there were so Tarin had made about twelve, that being the amount of resources they had.
“Ok, so everyone remembers the plan?” Tarin said into the microphone attached to his suit.
“Yep, we’re all here and standing by.” Said Eithan from the other end, “You are clear for takeoff.”
Aaron looked down, “Ok, so jump over the fence. Get in, get plants, get out.”
Tarin nodded, “That’s the plan.”
Aaron looked back, “So how do we get out?”
Sorra spoke into the intercom, “You can fly, we’ll worry about what Tarin has to do on this end.” Aaron nodded.
Tarin passed him a pack of the tubes, which Eithan now called ‘Titan Tubes’. Once he learned they were made out of titanium, which Tarin generously put to use from the Genex resource containers.
Tarin shook his arms, “Ready?” He said on the far side of the building.
Aaron nodded, “Let’s do this.” Aaron flew into the air and over the fence easily, it was Tarin who was going to be hard.
He readied himself and ran as fast as he could, he flew into the air and over the fence narrowly. He tried to land on the ground, but fell and rolled in the dirt for a bit. “Ow.” Tarin said.
“Ok, that wasn’t so bad.” Said Aaron,
“For you.” Said Tarin, they’d landed in the forest where they’d gotten their powers. It was just as beautiful as Tarin remembered. “Alright I’ll scout around for the cave, then come get you. To be safe we need two people to get the plant out safely.”
“Got it.” Said Aaron, “Do your runny thing, and then we’ll pull out the plants.”
“It’s not a runny thing!” Tarin complained,
Aaron nodded, “Sure.”
Tarin got into a traditional running form, and boosted himself into the jungle. He found many animals and plants, but he really had his eyes open for the trail they were on when they found the cave. He spotted the trail and the cave out of the corner of his eye, and ran straight back to Aaron.
“Found it, ready?” Tarin said
Aaron nodded, “Try to keep up.”
Tarin put on a hurt face, “Me, keeping up with you. Since we got our powers my speed has doubled, I’m faster than all of you combined.”
“If you say so,” Aaron flew at high speeds,
Tarin ran up to him, still flying in the air. “Doubled.” He whispered into Aaron’s ear, then he ran them both to the cave. Leaving Aaron a little ways behind of course.
Aaron spotted flying, and looked around. He looked at Tarin and squinted, “You're evil.”
Tarin shook his head, “No, I’m a hero who works with his best friends.” Tarin smiled, and entered the cave. It was just as he remembered, the plants glowed and made the room easy to see. “You guys seeing this?” He said into his microphone.
“Ya, it’s amazing.” Sorra said,
“What are those plants?” Eithan asked,
“Those are what gave us our powers.” Said Tarin, “They mutated our DNA, for amazing things. Electric conduction for me, Energy manipulation for Aaron, Enhanced muscular flexibility for Colton, and Enhanced muscle growth for Max.” Tarin approached the plant that gave him his abilities and grabbed one of the Titan Tubes from his bag, then he encased the plant around it. The plant gladly moved into the tube, and shot electricity. Like a plasma ball. Tarin and Aaron then grabbed all of the plants they could find in the cave. When they were done, all the plants were gone and Genex no longer had superpowers anymore.
Aaron had gotten very paranoid after Tarin was talking about how they were able to detect his light abilities, “Come on, that's the last one, let’s go!”
Tarin looked around one last time, and nodded. “Ya, I think that's it, just checking.”
“So can they actually track my abilities?” asked Aaron,
“Well, we’re able to track your abilities. If Genex can’t then I'd be surprised.” Tarin ran and grabbed Aaron. He ran them all the way to the fence, and stopped. “Alright you fly me over the fence and we’re out.” Tarin looked back to see Aaron throwing up, and his mask off. “Put your mask on!”
Aaron put his mask on, “Sorry, but you're the one… Who made me throw up.” Aaron shook himself off, and grabbed Tarin by the shoulders. They were successfully able to get over the fence and get back to home base, they only had to pray that they didn’t get caught.
