Chosen Ones: Villainous Gens

Chapter 1

Tarin dodged Max’s punch, and speed punched him in his chest. Max, taking no damage, swung once more. Tarin, unable to dodge the attack, hit the wall. Hard. After their multiple encounters with Dark Dash, and failed attempts at actually catching Dark Dash, Myer's told all of them to train more. Including Sorra and Eithan. They were all in their normal suits, including Tarin. Who strongly objected saying he mostly uses his nano suit, but there was no changing Myer’s mind. Myer’s was working on the nano suit’s for the entire team, based on the one that Tarin had created. Max punched Tarin straight in the gut, and he almost threw up. Tarin tapped out, and sat on the couch they put into the base.

“Did… You have to punch me in the gut?” Tarin asked, a bit woozy.

Before Max could answer, Myer interrupted, “Oh, yes. You get hit, you get stronger.” Max just shrugged.

“I think he forgets you have super strength.” Tarin whispered.

“And you have super speed to help you avoid him.” Myer said. Tarin groaned, being a superhero for fun was fun. Being a superhero who always had an arch nemesis lurching in the shadows was the opposite of fun.

Eithan came over to Tarin and looked down at him, “So when are we telling Myer’s about the P-L-A-N-T’s?”

Tarin shook his head, “I… Don’t know.” They had been debating over telling Myer’s about the plant’s that gave them their superpowers in the first place; they'd been sitting in the tunnels under the base for months, Tarin sometimes wondered what properties they could have for his friends or his technology. He always decided to avoid the idea. Eithan always asked the same question when he brought it up, ‘Am I able to get powers?’ Tarin always said yes to the possibility, but always said no to the idea.

“There we go!” Announced Myer’s. He turned to them, Tarin looked up from the couch. “New Nano suits for all of you! Based entirely on Tarin’s design, very impressive.” Tarin nodded, “Anyway, right now they are based off of the suit’s you have now. You can customize them if you would like.”

Colton, or the famous Green Gadget, looked at Tarin. “You were able to do that this whole time!” Tarin just shrugged, as the suit’s were being given out.

When Myer’s got to Eithan and Sorra we smiled, “Neither of you have powers yet, so they're just blank slates. I hope that’s ok.”

Sorra nodded, “Perfectly fine. We can customize them later.”

“Ditching that idea, Eithan want!” Eithan grabbed at his suit and put it on, it expanded all over his body as it did for Tarin. It was a white suit, with the usual lines Tarin had put in his suit. “Ya, this is pretty dull not gonna lie.”

Dr. Myer looked at Eithan, “Well I'm sorry, but you don’t have powers. I can’t base it off of anything.”

“When am I getting powers!” Eithan complained.

Dr. Myer looked at Tarin, “That’s for him to decide.”

Tarin’s eyes widened, “What?”

“You're the one who’s studying them, have you found a way to safely give them powers?” Dr. Myer asked.

Tarin had done many tests before, once he’d gotten a  bunch of mice to punch its glass container open. Then one that exploded, but none of his experiments were a success.

Max shook his head, “He’s never done anything with those plants.”

“Actually I have, I figured out a way to transgenically mutate the genes of mice with them,”

Eithan put his arms in the air, “Perfect.”

“Usually right before they explode.” Tarin finished.

Everyone looked at him for a long moment, “Before they what?” Asked Eithan.

“Well, the transgenic experiment only got some of the abilities to work on a small percentage of the mice before they either died, exploded, or even imploded.” Sorra made a disgusted face.

“Why are you doing a transgenic mutation when you could be doing a hypogenic mutation?” Asked Dr. Myer.

Tarin thought for a second, “Making the mutated gene dominant, affecting the whole cell at once. Creating the mutated virus that gave us powers!” Tarin ran to his workstation, and sketched out a genetic strand adding the strange element that gave them powers. Inserting it as a virus, and slowly drew out the planning on how to effectively give powers to a person. “Guys, I think we can give you powers.” He looked to Sorra, Eithan, and Myer’s.

Myer’s shook his head, “No, I’m too old for any of that.”

“Wait, we’re actually going to get powers?” Asked Sorra.

Tarin smiled, “Once I synthesize the right virus.”

“How long will that take?” Asked Eithan.

“About an hour, if time is on our side of course.” The main computer made a noise, and a red sound came from it. “Which it never is.” Tarin ran to the consol, and looked at what was wrong. He froze.

“What’s wrong?” Asked Max.

Tarin turned back to them, fists clenched, “It’s him.”
