Chapter 4
So ya, Sorra and Eithan got superpowers. Sorra could conduct energy into all kinds of forms, and Eithan could shoot fire from his hands. Tarin had also gained new abilities, and based on how the wave of energy hit him and his friends. Tarin guessed they got new powers too. Tarin brought them to the main room once more so they could figure out what was happening to them, while Myer created Sorra and Eithan’s suits.
“Alright,” Said Tarin, “Obviously our friends here, Sorra and Eithan have developed superpowers. Amazing, but it seems we have developed new abilities as well. For example, I for some reason can absorb energy and blast it somewhere else.”
Max nodded, “So I could have new abilities and I might not even know it?” He asked.
“Yes that’s the idea.” Said Tarin.
“Sweet.” Max mumbled.
Tarin continued, “We’re here to see how far we can push these new and old abilities.” They all nodded.
“How do we start?” Asked Eithan.
Tarin smiled, “We’re going to fight each other.”
Tarin had set up multiple sparing rings for two people to fight each other at once. The first matchup was Sorra vs Eithan, just to see how they could fight a non trained person. While fighting Sorra somehow convinced Eithan he was trying to eat food, but when he saw there was nothing there he got punched in the face. When Tarin was fighting Colton he was doing his normal speed technique, but Colton was fast enough to hit Tarin. Tarin didn’t move one inch, and he felt the same sensation he felt before. The power that Colton put into Tarin’s stomach was traveling up into Tarin’s arm, and he was able to punch Colton so hard he hit the roof. He said he was going to stay up there for a while.
“Ow!” Complained Colton.
“Sorry! I don’t know what that was!” Yelled Tarin.
Myer came into the room, “But I do, you’ve gained the ability to control energy. You turned his kinetic energy into power you use for lightning or running. So when you punched him you sent a massive amount of energy into him, his power and yours at the same time. Say someone like Max were to hit you, your force would double hit strength into an attack. Imagine the power you now possess.” Dr. Myer was sounding a bit like Dark Dash, of course I would never say that but I needed a way to say it nicer.
“Ya, but that doesn’t mean anything like that. I don’t even know the limits yet.” I said hoping that sounded ok.
Max nodded, “Ya, now let’s see what I can do against you.”
“Ya, you can do that. After you get me down.” Said Colton’s voice, everyone looked up at Colton sticking to the ceiling not coming down.
Aaron flew up to him, “How are you doing that?”
Colton shrugged, “I just felt a strange feeling in my hands when I was flung up here, then I didn’t fall.” Colton let go somehow and landed perfectly on the ground.
Max nodded, “Alright, you can climb walls now.”
“I’m going to need blood samples from you guys again by the way.” Tarin said just remembering.
All of them groaned, but Sorra looked at him. “Why do you need to do that?”
Tarin shrugged as he thought it was obvious, but didn’t want to be rude. “The plant’s effect you on a cellular level, whatever the blood cells can do so can you. Yours will be hard to tell, but we’ll figure it out. Now about that match up.” Max punched Tarin in the face. Hard. Tarin shook it off, and felt the energy coursing through him. He pushed Max with both his hands hoping to push him far enough. Max tumbled back, but was still on the mat. He came at Tarin like a bull, Tarin moved out of the way. Max was smiling, he looked a bit bigger than usual, taller. Tarin went in to punch him in the gut, but when that seemed to do nothing he backed off hoping it was enough. Max grew a lot. He grew to the size of a street lamp. “So that’s new.” Said Tarin, “Pause match.”
Max shrunk back to his normal size after that, “What was that?”
Myer looked closer at Max, “It seems you were able to flex your muscles more than normal, being how you were being punched by Tarin it made sense. The more you get hit the more you grow, but it seems you can shrink on command.”
Max flexed his arms, and he grew another three inches. “Cool.”
Next up was Eithan and Aaron, a bit of an unfair matchup but nobody cared about it. Eithan went full fire for this, he was untouchable. Aaron gasped, and disappeared. Everyone looked around, Eithan stopped erupting into fire.
“Where’d he go?” He asked.
“I’m right here.” A voice came, everyone looked around the room. Nobody had said it. “Wait, can you guys not see me?”
“What’s going on?” Asked Sorra.
A blast of light shot from where Aaron once stood, and Eithan immediately shot fire from where it came from. Nothing happened. Another blast hit Eithan in the chest, he fired in return. Something grabbed Eithan’s fire, and held it. It transformed into a white ball, and was fired at Eithan.
“What’s going on!?” Eithan yelled.
Eithan coated the entire floor of the fighting area in flames, and a light appeared in the air. Soon a figure appeared, Aaron.
“Were you invisible?” asked Max.
“I guess I was.” He said. He held out his hand, and shot a blast of energy. Eithan moved aside and created his own bolt on fire. Aaron shot another blast, but instead of hitting the bolt it made a shield on Aaron’s arm. Aaron had a light shield on his arm. “When was this a thing? Alright this is my signature move now.”
“He can create energy constructs like Sorra, and bend light to his will.” Mused Myer, “Impressive.”
Eithan shot a blast of energy at Aaron again and Aaron caught it. Aaron Caught Eithan’s fire. It transformed into a white light, and shot back. Eithan jumped, and shot fire out of his hands at the same time. Eithan hovered in the air.
“So I can fly.” He said.
They both maneuvered around each other for a little bit, but when Eithan shot another blast of power Aaron just created a construct in front of him. It stopped the fire in its tracks, and pushed Eithan to the wall.
“Can I forfeit?” Asked Eithan.
After evaluating all of their abilities he had to test their blood samples, and while he did that Aaron suggested making their names.
“How about fire boy and plasma girl?” Asked Max, “Simple and sweet.”
Eithan gawked at the idea, “Simple is the opposite wrought I want to take.”
Myer came into the room, “Well, since your friends decided to base their names on colors and powers why don’t you do that? Orange Flame?” The doctor suggested.
“Like the idea, not the name.” Said Eithan, “Ideas people.”
“How about Orange Blaze?” Said Sorra.
Eithan shook his head, “I’m not a big orange guy, maybe red?”
Tarin smiled, “Too late.’
“Then orange, maybe Flaming Orange?” Eithan said.
Max shook his head, “You sound like a fruit. What about Flaming Crimson?”
Eithan shook his head, “Not the Flaming part, but I do like the Crimson part. Maybe Crimson Flame?”
Sorra held up her hand, “You boys overthink too much, how about just Crimson Blaze?”
Eithan started to object, but stopped and tapped his chin. “That actually sounds good. Crimson Blaze, I think I have a superhero name.”
“Alright, Red Dash, Blue Basher, Wight Light, Green Gadget, Crimson Blaze, and what? What should my name be?” Asked Sorra.
“What about Mind Girl, because you have those mind powers. You literally made me eat invisible food, but obviously there's no such thing.” Eithan noticed what he’d just said, and that his friends and himself literally have superpowers. “Right?”
Tarin shook his head, “What’s your favorite color?” Tarin asked Sorra.
Sorra thought for a second, “Purple or Violet, they're basically the same thing.”
“What about Violet Mind? You have psychic powers so you would be dealing with the mind a lot right?” Asked Tarin.
Sorra thought for a little more, “Ya, Violet Mind. I like it.”
Myer’s came around in front of them, “So we have the super team of the century. Red Dash, Blue Basher, Green Gadget, White Light, Crimson Blaze, and Violet Mind.”
Everyone nodded at their names. Sorra and Eithan created their suits based on their names, and made them fully immune to their abilities. They were officially the super team of New York, except the name of course. The name was still in the works.
