Chapter 7
Tarin and his friends returned to base, they found Tarin’s mom there waiting for all of them. She sat on the couch they’d gotten in the base, and she looked like she was thinking of a lot of things.
Train came up to her first and deactivated his nano suit, “I’m so sorry, I messed everything up and I know that. There was no cure, and we couldn’t just live like this so…”
“So you became vigilantes lying to everyone just to live some fantasy, where did that get you?” She said,
“All I want to do is explain to you why we’re doing this.” Train asked. His mother closed her eyes, then nodded when opening them.
“Start from the beginning, the real beginning.” She said,
Tarin sat on the floor in front of her, and started to talk. “It all started on that field trip we took to the Genex reserve, we saw something and as the teenagers we were we went up to it. It was a cave that had plants in it, they were… are beautiful.” Tarin walked up to the console, his mother watching him all the way. He activated the plant platform, the plants appeared and glowed in the room. “After we all felt something was off, we gathered back together. Me, Max, Colton, and Aaron all had superpowers. In our own respects. I did some testing and found what happened to us wasn't natural, somehow these plants are unnaturally from something or somewhere else that we know nothing of. I got us to train with our new abilities, and we became a little secret group.” Tarin breathed when he remembered his first heroic act, it was a car crash and he had no idea what he was doing. “I made suits, just for fun. I thought it would be cool and we’d play around, but when I saw that car crash I just froze. The world froze. I had no other instinct then to help, I got everyone out of the crash before anyone noticed me. My new suit kept my identity a secret and it stayed that way for years to come. Then another superhuman appeared, you know him to be Dark Dash. You already know who this is though, Christepher Méndez. He kidnapped us and took a bunch of our blood, he needed it to stay alive. He’s aging really fast, and his body is decaying. He took a bunch of our blood, which obviously we now have seen what it can do. He made himself able to use his powers again, and then he made more superhumans. Now we’re fighting all of them, he’s planning to do something and I don’t know what. I made the new suits, we made them into superhumans too but now none of that matters. We need your help, and you need to keep our secrets. Nobody but the people in this room and the supervillains know about any of this.”
His mother got up, came over to him, and hugged him. “You were always so creative with your talents.” She looked around the room at my friends, then back at me. “‘It was natural,’ your father used to say. To be heroic was for anyone to feel human, I think that part of him is in you.” She smiled, “You and your friends are safe, as long as I'm involved in this stuff from now on ok? And no more running me places, I nearly threw up.” Tarin laughed.
“Most do on the first try.” He said.
Kathrine waved her hands to Tarin's friends, “You can take your masks off, I know who you all are.” As they did they all looked at Tarin.
“You literally just told your mom your’s and our secret identities, why?” Asked Eithan, “I mean it’s in every hero's story, but why?”
Tarin’s mom looked at all of them, like she was evaluating them. “Alright, as long as you promise not to get hurt. Or kidnapped again.” She laughed, “I’ll keep your secret and more, I’ll help you. I am a nurse after all.”
Tarin nodded, “We usually don’t have too many problems with that.” He found a sharp metal piece on the ground, and cut his hand open. His mother gasped, then she calmed as she saw his hand heal automatically. “But some of us can’t heal like I can, we could use some help.” Just as he said that an alert came on the console. “It’s sentient I swear.” Said Tarin, he went over and saw that The Villainous Generation was up to no good once more. “You have our eyes and ears.” He said, he looked back at his friends. “You guys ready?” He asked.
Max pumped his fist into the air, “Always!”
“Xeno Force, unite!” Said Eithan. Nobody objected.
“Not bad naming for once Eithan.” Said Aaron
Eithan started to fly, and burn the air. “Thanks.”
Before Tarin ran off his mom stopped him, “I have a med kit with me if any of you get hurt ok?”
Tarin smiled, “Ok, announce it on the intercoms. Ask Myer for anything!’ Tarin ran off to fight his arch nemesis.
