Chapter 9
You’d think that having a mom who knew you were a superhero would be fine and they’d say stuff like ‘Go get em.’ or ‘Beat em up kiddo!’ but no, they were all about keeping your secret identity a secret and making sure nobody knew you were a superhero from the amount of absences from school. When Tarin had to go for superhero stuff he had to phase through his mom just to get out the door, his friends parents all thought they were going to study groups. Sometimes Tarin wished it was still like that.
“So you have to phase through your mom to get out the door?” Asked Aaron.
Train nodded, “Yep, and when she drives me here. She makes me wear sunscreen, and bug spray.”
Colton laughed from his little den in the ceiling, “That stinks!” He said, “But it’s good she was saved and wasn’t hurt by Dark Dash.”
Sorra nodded, “And who is now in holding, and shall stay that way for the rest of his life for crimes against the united states of america!”
Eithan laughed, “Ya, and nobody saw the giant hole in the sky that he made. Crazy right?”
Tarin jumped from his desk chair, “What?”
Eithan nodded, “Ya! People saw nothing other than the storm and the clouds.”
Tarin shook his head, “No, but that’s not what happened.” He said.
Max nodded, “Ya we know, Méndez created some kind of portal in the sky.”
Tarin shook his head, “That’s still not what happened, he never made that hole.”
Everyone looked at him in confusion, finally EIthan asked. “What are you talking about?”
Tarin shook his head again, “Whatever caused that hole wasn’t Méndez it was something else, Méndez was just pulling power from the hole and using it for energy. He was trying to give everyone powers with it, somehow the power from the hole wasn’t from the machine.”
Everyone looked surprised by this, Colton was on the edge of his hammock. “So something else was causing the hole, and Méndez was just using it?”
Tarin nodded, “He was just drawing energy, I felt it when I was drawing the energy from it.”
Sorra sat on the edge of her seat, “So whatever he was drawing from was powerful enough to give everyone in the city powers?”
Colton nodded, “And was able to be harnessed by technology.”
Aaron flew to the ground, “So whatever happened that day…”
“Wasn’t from Méndez.” Tarin said, finishing Aaron’s sentence.
