Chapter 4

Tarin, Max, Aaron, Eithan, and Colton all walked to the coffee shop Sorra told them she was at. She said she thought Lily had forgotten, and wasn’t coming so she asked if they wanted to come instead. Tarin wasn’t much of a coffee guy, but he did like a good cinnamon roll. They walked into the store, only for all of them to stop in their tracks as Sorra waved them over. Sitting across from her was a girl with violet hair, wearing a hood and cowl around her shoulders. Tarin immediately recognized her and couldn’t believe his day.

They all sat down, Tarin, Max, Colton, Eithan, and Aaron were all looking at each other anxiously. Sorra, being in their friend group for years now noticed immediately.

“Guys, what’s wrong with all of you?” Sorra asked.

“Nothing!” They all said at the same time, making it even more obvious.

“Is it because of Lily, because you don’t even need to be here if that’s the case.”

Tarin shook his head, “No it’s not that, it’s that we literally just met Lily.”

Lily or as Tarin and his friends had put together, Luminastra stiffened, “Oh, do we know each other?”

Eithan nodded, “Here it is.” He lowered his head and whispered, “Luminastra.” Lily groaned, “Ya, maybe not the best idea telling her.”

Lily shook her head, “I’m so sorry.”

Sorra grabbed Lily’s hand, “No, I’m so sorry for inviting them.” She turned to them, “What did you guys do? What’s Luminastra?”

Lily put her hand up, “Do you all have a spot to talk? Does she know?”

Tarin nodded, “She knows about us.”

Lily sighed, “I mean that makes it better at least. Is there anywhere we can go to talk about this?”

Tarin nodded, “Myer’s gonna freak out, but that’s fine.”

Sorra’s mouth fell open, “Tarin! We can’t talk about that.”

“Sorra.” Max said, “She already knows about X-E-N-O.” He said.

Sorra sighed, and turned to Eithan. “You said this was gonna happen. What now?”

Eithan smiled, “First of all thank you for noticing my superhero knowledge, second of all she’s a M-A-G-E, so she has magic and stuff, and she hasn't killed us yet. Good start. Third of all let’s get to base after, here’s the fun part, I get a triple muffin topper to go.”

After that Max had to pull Eithan out of the coffee shop.

Once they welcomed Lily to home base they started talking more about the magical world.

Lily started “So, ya. I’m Luminastra, I’m a Mage of Life. I can cast spirit, light, and time magic. An evil rival of mine, who is a Mage of Death came over to this world after she was found trying to kill a teacher back at school and I’ve been trying to find her ever since. I’ve been resisting the calls from the MDSC to come back, so now they’re all trying to get me back. This time they didn’t seem into me though, you all made sure of that. Thank you Dasher.”

“Don’t call me Dasher.” Tarin argued, angrily.

“Not like nobody’s thought of it before.” Lily said.

“Wait, people call me that?” Tarin asked, but was interrupted by his mom who came into the room with Dr. Myer. Holding hands. Tarin looked over and sighed, “Since when was that a thing?” They both immediately let go of each other's hands.

Dr. Myer saw Lily and gasped, “What is going on? Who is that, and why is she here?”

Sorra sighed, “This is Lily, she’s my girlfriend and a recently discovered superhero from the mages in the other dimensions.”

“We fought with her against a giant monster, and we trusted her. It was cool, she’s really good at magic.” Max said.

Tarin shook his head, “None of that matters right now, what I want to know is why you're here.” He said to Lily, “Obviously people with magic live out happy lives as normal people obviously you don’t, you want to be a superhero. You obviously also have a problem with the mages, what’s that about?”

Lily shook her head, “I’m a mage of life, a rare type of magic user. Only a few of us are actually in the magic world, but there’s another. A mage of death, they focus their energy on the opposite.”

Colton paced on the ceiling, he’s able to walk on walls. A bit strange, “So where exactly is this Mage of Death?”
Lily looked down, “I don’t know. But maybe, now that we’re all here and all, you could all help me find her?”

Sorra was at her side, holding her shoulder. “We’ll help you find them, it’s kind of our second job now anyway.”

Myer nodded, “Yes I guess it is,” he sighed and leaned on a table, “So where shall we begin, any ideas? Maybe we could be ahead of a villain for once.” Everyone sat in silence, not having any ideas and basically not knowledge on the multiverse anyhow.

Tarin’s mind sparked to life, “Are the energies of the void traceable?” Tarin asked Lily, hoping there was.

Lily’s head flew up, “Ya! I don’t know if it will work, the void’s been slipping into this place for years.”

“But, from what I have seen anyway, different people are affected by the void in different ways. It depends on how they acquire the magic of course. We were affected physically wise, giving us superpowers. You were affected by figuring out you have them. The same thing for this Mage of Death right?” He asked, hoping he was getting to something.

Lily lit up, “Yes! She calls herself Velmora by the way, she was affected how I was affected. Trying out magic for the first time and seeing what we could do, if we search for that…”

“We might be able to find Velmora before she finds us!” Sorra finished, she blushed. “Sorry.” 

Lily patted her and said it was all right, but Tarin got to work. The enhancements The Master Knight had made were working for them perfectly, Tarin found a massive void energy. Mostly Dark and Death magic emanating off of it, that had to be her! “Guys, I think I got her. Death magic has a radiation of dark void energy. Basically just radiation. I think I’ve pinpointed exactly where it would be.” Tarin smiled, and thought he’d finally found a sense of realness in magic, but that faded fast as Tarin saw there were two dark void signatures. “There’s two of them, two dark void signs. At least in the city, I can’t go farther than that.”

Lily balled her fists, “That’s all I need.” She started to go fast, but Tarin ran in front of her.

“You're new, we understand that. But here. We do things together, and if we’re going to be working together. As much as I don’t want to mess too much in the magical world, we have to do this together.” Tarin said, looking at her, still in the speed zone.

She sighed, “Fine, but hear my warning. This might not end well for all of your friends.”

“Even the one you care about?” Tarin said, knowing being friends with Sorra was how to get to Lily.

Lily balled her fists once more, but went slow. “I’ll work with you, until Velmora is defeated.” She looked back at Tarin’s friends, “All of you.” Her eyes landed on Sorra, who looked like she was blushing.
