Chapter 3
They all went home with a story telling their parents they were going on a trip to Africa to collect DNA for Genex, and don’t worry that was really happening and Genex was good now. It was run under some guy named Charles Melthimer, they didn’t worry about it anymore now. They were really off to The MDSC, and Tarin just couldn’t wait to see where that would take them. They all packed for a long trip, and brought their nano suits. Just in case. When it was finally time to go Tarin’s mom drove them to a small airport where the Master Knight said the entrance was there and that Lily already knew how to got to it
Train’s mom shook her head, “I’m not too sure about this.”
Tarin shrugged, “I’m not too sure either, neither is anyone else. Sadly it’s our last resort if we are going to beat Velmora.”
Tarin’s mom nodded, “Then good luck, to you all.” Tarin and his mom looked into the back of his mom’s car to see all his friends huddled up together. Max mumbled something, but it was too cramped to actually get any words out right. It sounded like ‘Shansh shu’ which Tarin thought meant ‘Thank you.’ They all exited the car and waved goodbye, then they followed Lily’s lead.
“I hate going in this way, they always ask directly if you're magical or not. It’s just annoying.” She led them to a small hallway, and through it into a large room. It had six people behind glass windows talking to the people outside of them, and a huge weird symbol at the end of the hall.
“Is this magic society?” Asked Colton.
Lily nodded, “Yes why?”
Colton shrugged, “I don’t know, I thought it was going to be more… Magic-y.”
Lily shrugged, “Well all the big magic-y stuff comes at the end, get ready for the boring part.”
They waited in a line for a minute or two before they were at one of the six glass windows, and when they did the person behind it smiled.
“Well well well, if it isn’t Lily James. Who are your friends?” The clerk had short but sleek black hair, and was smoking a cigar, but no smoke was coming out of it. I looked at a nearby sign to see it said ‘No Smoking’ on it, so why was this woman smoking?
“Doesn’t matter, we’re here on official Master Knight and hero problems. We need to be let into the MDSC.”
“Well alrighty, I know this’ll be interesting!” She looked through a few papers, but I swear she was looking through a few thousand at a time. “Wow! Superheroes eh? Nice gig you got kids, the Master Knight sends his best regards. He got you your deliveries here today in about twenty seconds, and you're all given full pardon for every non-magical thing you bring into the school.”
Tarin was confused, “What do you mean twenty seconds?” A holographic image appeared in front of the lady.
“Now actually.” Said the woman. Six small packages appeared behind her and slowly floated to the counter and through the glass to them. They slammed to the ground with a thud, “Holds: Uniforms, Spellbooks, and any other magical item need be. If you pass through the gates you’ll be on your way.” The woman smiled, “Have fun at magic school.” They walked to what looked to be a metal detector, but with nothing to put their items in. Lily just walked right through them and waved for them to come along, once Tarin passed through behind Max and Aaron. The whole room changed, behind them was a wall with three small doors. Likely the ones they’d just walked through, and on the other side was the same patterned design that was on the end of the hall in the lobby. Lily walked towards it and in a swift motion opened, and she walked in followed by them.
When they went through the portal Tarin expected to feel a little disoriented at least, but he felt kind of nice. When they were all through the door, they were in a strange hallway. There was a hall to their right and in front of them was another, with a similar looking door to the one they just went through. Tarin decided to not go through another one of those for a while. Lily turned to all of them.
“Alright, welcome to the MDSC.” She walked through the halls and stopped at a large circle on the floor, it had four big spikes pointing toward the middle and four little ones doing the same. Lily looked around, “We should probably find our rooms.” They all looked at the bags they were given and found their room numbers, mine and Max’s was 60, Colton and Aaron’s was 61, and Sorra’s and Lily’s was 64. Lily walked us up two floors, and walked down several hallways where just through there Tarin could tell how incredible this place really was. Little demon and elf children ran in the hallways. Humans, Demons, and Elfs were flying through the air and they looked amazing. Tarin bumped into somebody while in his daze of delight. He looked down to see a small kid about the age of twelve, he looked up frightened. He grabbed all his notes which kinda looked like comics, he got up and looked at us all.
“I don’t want any trouble, I just need to get by.” He said scared.
“Trouble?” Asked Tarin, he moved aside. “We’re not trying to give you any trouble, sorry for bumping into you. I’m a new scholar,” Tarin held out his hand, “What’s your name?”
The boy seemed to relax, “I’m Johnathan.”
“Sorry we just got here, and we’re just taking it all in. It’s good to meet you, also you know the superhero group who call themselves Xeno Force?”
His friends started to giggle, then Johnathan nodded, “Ya I know them.”
“Who’s your favorite?” Tarin asked, “I don’t know about you, but I think Red Dash is pretty cool.”
Johnathan smiled, “He’s my favorite too! He’s probably one of the fastest known warriors in the multiverse!”
Tarin smiled at the boy, “Well it’s nice to meet you Johnathan, my name’s Tarin. I’m the leader of Xeno Force, also known as…” Tarin started to build up electricity, hoping the boy would notice who he was.
“Red Dash…” Johnathan finished, “How? When? You're the coolest superhero ever! When did you get here? I need to ask you so many questions!” A loud bell sounded, and Johnathan sighed. “I have to go, it was an honor to meet you.”
“It was an honor to meet you as well, see you around in school?” Tarin asked.
Johnathan nodded, “Can’t wait.”
Lily started laughing so hard once the boy was far enough, “Did you have to do the whole, ‘Guess you I am, I’m your favorite superhero!’ thing?”
Tarin smiled and nodded, “Of course.”
Once Lily showed them their rooms Colton and Aaron started wondering and making jokes about Sorra and Lily being in a room together, Sorra and Lily started to blush. Before they could say anything though they went into their room. Tarin and Max laughed a bit and told them they were just joking, then they went into their room. It was a large enough room for four people, and only had two beds, two desks, and a lot of books on one bookshelf.
Max slumped down all his stuff and started unpacking, “So, what do you think we’re going to learn here that’ll help us defeat Velmora?”
Tarin shrugged, and started unpacking his own belongings. “I don’t know, ever since I got my powers and figured out it was magic. I’ve just been tugged to this place.”
Max nodded, “Same here. It just feels right.” Tarin let out a sigh of relief, he thought it was only him. “I wonder what kind of magic they’ll teach me! Maybe they’ll teach me how to control rocks, like Quakeviper.”
“I hope they just teach us what’s relevant, our schedules should be ready in the morning. I wouldn't be surprised if the master knight has something planned for us though.”
After they’d unpacked and gotten into their new clothes for the night they went to sleep, or so Tarin thought they should have been.
“Hey Tarin?” Asked Max.
Tarin turned to him, “What’s up?”
“Why did we do this?” He asked.
Tarin was struck by the decision, “I don’t know. I thought it was because we need more fire power to defeat Velmora, but I’m getting the feeling that we’re here for a higher purpose.”
“Like?”
“I don’t know, but whatever it is we’re sticking together.”
Max made a snoring sound and Tarin smiled, “Night.”
