Chapter 6

Tarin paced back and forth, all of his friends had met in his and Max’s room, and were now going over the lines of the prophecy. They’d done this for three whole days. On a whiteboard they wrote down the lines of the prophecy:

His prophecy! Dark, heroic! It ends in triumphant defeat

He shall battle with his friends the servants of death

He shall lose his friends for the fight to the end

He shall defeat death, but bring chaos with him. Wherever he goes it shall follow, his life will be dragged by it and he shall drag his friends with him.

A choice will be made, by a rush of red. The choice to see who prevails in the end.

You shall go to the highest of feats, but you shall die with your friends in the least.

I tell you this for the greatest! You shall not change it, for it is foreseen!

The lines rang in Tarin’s head, but he couldn’t understand what the oracle had been talking about.

Colton pointed at the board from the ceiling, “‘a rush of red’ That has to be you.” Colton said to Tarin, “And Death, I guess would be Velmora?”

Lily nodded, “That would make sense, but what are ‘the servants of death?’ As far as I know Velmora has no servants.”

Max pointed to one of the most disturbing parts of the prophecy, “What about the choice? What choice will you make? And how does it help us with defeating Velmora?”

Tarin shrugged, “The Master Knight said that prophecies tend to be cryptic, maybe it means something we’re not seeing yet?”

Sorra shook her head, “Well whatever we’re not seeing we have to figure out, we go back to the city in one day.”

“I know I know, it’s just hard to wrap my head around this.” Tarin tapped his head, and started thinking. He labeled Velmora as death and a rush of red as him, because it was the only way it made sense. “That’s best to know for now, but I still don’t get what we’re missing.”

Lily shrugged, “It will appear in time, right now we have to focus on getting powerful. You guys got to learn spells that contrast your superhero powers, and I think we should focus on those for now.” Everyone agreed, including Tarin. He didn’t want to admit it, but he needed a break from the prophecy. Lily showed them a bit of magic she hoped would complement their abilities, and they kept at it for the rest of their time at the MDSC.

Once they were on their last day the Master Knight himself sent them on their way, and he did it a bit normally for once.

“It was a pleasure having you all at the MDSC, and we all hope to see you again.” Unlike his usual robes and hood, he wore jeans, a short-sleeve shirt, and a cap on his head probably to hide his hair. He was driving them to their home base, where Tarin’s mom would meet with them.

Tarin nodded, “It was cool to have the experience.” Tarin was writing the prophecy in his journal he’d gained from the MDSC, he’d also been tracking all of his spells in it.

“Wonderful! Now I know you all are a special bunch, and your prophecy is well underway now. But I was hoping to tell you one small little thing.” He smiled.

“Let me guess,” Lily said from the back, “You’re going to make us come back?” She said, but I could hear a slight sign that she wasn’t saying in as much disgust as she was before.

“No, I’m letting Tarin and your friends decide that.” He turned to me, and let go of the wheel. Though we were still going on the right way he talked to us, “I have looked at the timeline Tarin.” Tarin jumped, he’d heard the timeline was able to be changed but he didn’t think you could see it. “Your prophecy is true, and so is your destiny.” Tarin wanted to ask him so badly what it was, but he knew that’s not how it worked. He needed to figure this out with his friends, but his destiny? He tried to avoid the idea at school, but maybe the magic was calling out to him. Maybe magic is where he belonged.

“We can come back at any time right?” He asked. His friends looked at him surprisingly, “I mean, if we need your help that is.”

The Master Knight snapped his fingers and turned around to Tarin, “You already know the answer to that do you not?” Tarin held down the urge to ask him more about the magical world, “I feel your wanting for magic and much as feel the void itself, and I’m spiritually connected to that. We’ll see eachother again soon, once your prophecy is complete your schooling will be done and you’ll go to your former school’s graduation. As a graduate, don't worry, your friends will know their destinies by then as well, for they all align with you.” Time unfroze, and they were at central park. “Like I said, I hope your time at the multi-diverse school for combat was enlightening! Have a good summer!” The Master Knight drove off, in the most weird way ever. The car he was driving turned a corner and vanished.

Tarin nodded, “Let’s destroy Vemora.”
