Chapter 6

“So when are you gonna fix the world?” Lilith said, she'd been making fun of Varzoth’s heroic quote for hours.

“Like I said before, eventually.” Varzoth said, for the millionth time. Lilith laughed.

“Alright, but seriously. What are we going to do with that world-ending item you're carrying in a backpack?” She asked,

“Like I said, we’re going to hide it and keep it safe. I’m a fugitive now so I’ll literally be protecting it with my life, now that all of Romania is after me at least.” Varzoth thought a lot about how his life could have gone if he hadn’t had taken the forge, but he was long away from going back to that. All that mattered was getting the forge to safety.

“So, I get you to a place then ditch you got it.” Said Lilith,

“Really, that fast?” Asked Varzoth,

“Well, as an unimportant I have to stay true to my people right? You are certainly not my people, especially with those kinds of clothes.” Lilith said with a smile, he still had his palace clothes on.

“So, is that just to hurt me or what?” Varzoth said, he was serious about it. He then heard galloping in the distance, he looked behind him to see Romanian flags. It was an official patrol, he needed to hide. “Romanian patrol, I need to hide. Do you have anything?”

Lilith looked through a few of her bags, “I have this.” She passed him a muddy old cloth.

“It’s like you want me to suffer.” Varzoth said,

“Knew it, just like the important’s.” Lilith said, for that comment Varzoth quickly put on the cloth as a mask.

“Still testing my trust?” He said,

“Last test promise.” Lilith said with a smile. They let the patrol pass, but one stayed behind and came to them.

“We’re on a hunt for this traitor, his name is Varzoth. Have you seen him?” Asked the soldier.

Lilith looked at the paper then looked at Varzoth, he saw the bounty was over a thousand. Lilith was still unclear to be trusted, all Varzoth did was shrug. Lilith shook her head, “Sorry coppers, we don’t got nothing for ya.” The soldier nodded, and went to catch up with his patrol.

“You scared me have to death!” Said Varzoth.

“What you think I'm going to sell you out to them, I don’t want anything to do with them and I know you don’t either. Wow, though over a thousand, they must really want you for stealing that forge.” lilith said,

“Once again, World. Ending. Item.” Varzith repeated again,

“True, but why you?” She asked,

“What do you mean why me?” Varzoth said, “I’m an important born to an unimportant family, they must think I’m a spy.”

“You’d be a terrible spy.” Lilith said,

“Are you just going to make fun of me this whole time?” Asked Varzoth,

Lilith nodded, “Of course!”

Lilith turns out had been all over the unimportant’s land, and knew where to go to avoid the important’s.

“So we just have to avoid the west wall post, and we’ll be good to do what we want.” Explained Lilith,

“Perfect! How long until we get there?” Asked Varzoth,

Lilith thought for a second, “Hm, about three to four weeks.”

“That’ll take forever!”

“Yep, you chose this not me.” said Lilith, “The next town is fine, nothing from the emperor.”

Over the next three days they traveled to the next town, and when they did it wasn’t what Lilith described. It was completely overtaken by the emperor! The entrance to the town wore banners of Roma.

“I thought you said this place was emperor free!” Varzoth whispered harshly.

“Last time I came here it was.” Lilith said,

“And when was this?”

“About three to six years ago.” Lilith said, Varzoth put his muddy mask on and started approaching the town.

Once they got there the place was filled with children and adults, all wearing some kind of Roma tattoo on them.

“Well three to six years ago this place must’ve looked a lot different, because the emperor has full control of this place. Look at all of the people wearing Roma tattoo’s.” Said Varzoth,

Lilith looked into the crowd, “Ya, all these people. They used to think what I think, the emperor is controlling all of us. He’s done exactly what we talked about him doing.” Lilith looked sad, Varzoth had never seen her face look like that before. “Let’s just get through town without having to deal with any of this.” Lilith continued on her hopper.

“So we get past here and we’re good right?” Asked Varzoth,

Lilith shrugged, “I know the unimportant land, not the important land.” She looked at a banner and scowled. “The wall is just past the ridge, get there, get past the wall, and hide it.” She said in a menacing tone. Varzoth nodded, and continued.

Lilith waited for him at the top of a small hill, once he got up she pointed to a wall. “That’s where you need to go.” She looked back at the town, “Where we need to go,” Varzoth looked at her curiously, she looked back “I’m coming with you.”

Varzoth gasped, and shook his head. “No, it's too dangerous!”

“I know the unimportant land perfectly, I know every pathway. Plus, we have something in common now.” She looked back at the village, “Neither of us have a home.” Varzoth was about to ask her what that meant, when she ran off on her hopper. Varzoth ran after her.

Once they got to the wall, many demons aimed crossbows and snarled at them. A soldier came toward them and stopped them before they could get any closer to the wall.

The soldier looked at them, “What is your business here?”

Varzoth had his cloth over his face, Lilith went up to the man. “Travelers, hoping to do trade in the west.”

The soldier nodded, “May I see your important’s papers?”

Lilith looked at Varzoth, “We are not important’s.”

The soldier shook his head, “Then you shall not pass, these gates are meant for the Emperor and him alone.”

Varzoth rode up, “It’s for his plan isn’t it? To kill all unimportant’s?”

The soldier jolted to look at him, “What kind of nonsense is this?”

“Your planning to get all important’s on the other side, while your slaughtering thousands of unimportant’s by waves.” Said Varzoth.

Lilith put her hand out to him, “Don’t.”

Varzoth shook his head, “You may let us pass,” He held out his important’s papers, “We are spies for the Emperor, we seek to gain access to the unimportant’s land and find if they know.”

The soldier’s eyes widened, “Well of course, the emperor always plans well. You may pass, but be warned of the unimportant lands. They are much more dangerous than you see.” said the soldier. The gates opened, and the soldier allowed them to pass.

Once they got through the gates and were far away enough from the wall, they stopped and Lilith shook him.

“How did they not recognize you! How’d you get them to be convinced I was an Important? I need to know!” Lilith stopped shaking him, and stopped. “Please.”

“Well, I covered my name in the papers. Just so they don’t know that I'm a fugitive and all. I am also very good at being convincing, I held my papers so it looked like I was holding many.” Varzoth explained,

“Well you know what it doesn’t matter because from now on it’s smooth sailing, now that we’re in the unimportant land at least.” Said Lilith, “Good job lying, you would make a perfect unimportant.”

“I used to be, but I thought being an important was better. I gave up freedom for knowledge you could say.” Said Varzoth, “I miss being an unimportant, even though I’m cast out as an important.”

Lilith smiled, “That was a good speech, not like that other one.” Lilith laughed, “‘I shall fix the world’ Like what? On your first day?”

Varzoth shook his head, and started setting up a camp.
