Chapter 5

Now you might be thinking, ‘You mean the really overpowered weapons like the Sword of Flame? You're giving all your friends the power to destroy the universe!’ No! No offense to my friends, but The Sword of Flame is way too powerful for a regular mortal for over five years. Varzoth, if he didn’t have his new Emperor form that is, would have died at the age of 19. Not the best way to go out either, I’d just explode into a puff of smoke. Anyway you get the idea, Lilith and Malakath already have super cool weapons so it was time to give the rest of the guardians their weapons. To Lilith’s annoyance, this included Baal.

“Why does she need a weapon again?” Lilith asked through clenched teeth.

Varzoth had explained it a thousand times but he was ready to do it again, “She is a guardian of the forge, and she brought us something we could really use.” Varzoth patted his satchel which held the other part of the forge Baal had stolen. “It’s only fair we let her in, I’m not even mentioning the whole ‘destiny’ and ‘forge’ part though. Shall I continue?”

Lilith scowled, “So we just trust her, and make her an overpowered weapon she can either help us with or kill us with.”

Varzoth smiled a bit, “Unfortunately.” They entered the forge room, where immediately Varzoth turned into his Emperor form. They started forging immediately, creating old designs Varzoth had made as a child. Zaroth and Selene had looked through the designs at least a thousand times and they added new mechanics they wanted and abilities they should have. Varzoth first molded Zaroth’s weapon, a short sword that wasn’t so short. The blade extended into a longer blade. Varzoth continued to make Selene’s weapon and created a scythe which he infused magic into to be able to cast fire magic. Baal, while Varzoth had been forging, was looking through a bunch of drawings. She eventually came over to him with a cool design in mind, and he began forging. He created a longbow, about four feet long. With spiked points on the ends. She seemed thrilled to have the bow.

“What can it do?” She asked.

Lilith started, given he had made the original design with Varzoth. “It is able to hold a large amount of arrows, as well as be able to extend the bow length when needed.”

Varzoth nodded, “It also has spikes on each end for close combat as well.”

Baal stared at the bow for a long moment, “When’s our next mission?”

Lilith looked surprised, “You want to start going on missions already?” Varzoth heard a bit of anger in her voice, but decided not to mention it.

Baal nodded, “I want to try this thing out as soon as possible!”

Varzoth thought, “There is that Important’s convoy heading to the city, but it’s too big to take on with a small force. Maybe we can all go on this one.” He said, looking to Lilith for agreement.

Lilith shrugged, “Alright Baal, let’s see what you can do.”

Varzoth stood on a rock looking over for the convoy, they had made camp and Baal was devouring their stories together. Selene was practicing with her Scythe, a weapon Varzoth knew he’d regret making. Lilith was spinning her daggers again, and Malakath and Zaroth were explaining the mines and how Varzoth had saved them.

“You see,” Zaroth explained, “The Mines were a kind of old ritual place, using Knight’s Magic to create incredible feats. But when the Important’s took it over they buried it in ashes, hoping it would never be used again. When Varzoth appeared, they recreated the mine to try and use the ritual place for their own gain. Varzoth had to fight his old frenemy from the importants. And didn’t that backfire!”

Varzoth jumped down next to them, “Yes it did, and Karnyx was no friend. He was a pure enemy, blinded by a vision of power.”

“You feel close to this person?” Asked Baal.

Varzoth held back for a moment, “He and I never got along, but we talked in the Important’s. Other than the emperor and me he seemed to be the only one with an opinion, I was misled.”

“And now their sworn enemies!” Malakath said, everyone looked at him oddly.

“I’d figure the Emperor was his sworn enemy.” Said Zaroth

Malakath thought, “Their arch enemies, different.”

Varzoth heard Lilith twirling her blades, ready for combat. He turned to her, and she nodded. Varzoth signaled for everyone to come and fight, he held Baal back though. “You should stay back for a bit, shoot the ones who we worry most about.” Baal nodded, and took a position on the rock.

Lilith led them around and over some rocks to where the convoy should be, when they got there they saw the convoy moving slowly and a few people scouting in front of it. Lilith looked back to everyone, “Whatever is in there they don’t want people getting to it. We can surprise them in a full on attack but…” Lilith wiggled her wrist in a gesture for maybe not gonna work.

Varzoth looked back at Baal, “What if we use our new cadet?”

They all looked at him, Zaroth first talked. “You're joking right?”

Varzoth shook his head, “We infuse an arrow with fire and set the convoy ablaze, we’ll be able to get in and out without anyone seeing or noticing us.”

Lilith looked into Varzoth’s eyes, he felt himself blushing but got the idea out of him. “You really trust Baal for this?”

Varzoth looked at the planted archer waiting for a signal, “I don’t, but whoever the forge trusts I trust.”

Varzoth infused an arrow with his flame spell, and gave it to Baal hoping she wouldn’t miss. “On your signal.” She said as he went back down to the convoy.

Varzoth got to Lilith, “She’s ready, you?”

Lilith smiled, “Always.”

Varzoth smiled at her and started walking out into the field with his friends, and he turned into his emperor form. He whistled loud enough for Baal to hear and she shot the flame infused arrow, the soldiers looked at the arrow in the air and saw as it made their convoy burst into flames. They had to move fast, Lilith threw her daggers to the soldiers trying to stomp out the fires. Arrows whizzed by them hitting many of the soldiers and even some of the chains wrapped around the carriage, Baal was a very good shot. Varzoth attacked multiple guards holding the convoy closed, and when he looked in it was madness. There were people in these carriages, unimportant’s.

“Hey Lilith! We’ve got a problem!”
