Chapter 2

After they’re friends heard about their important scout, they all literally said they were going to kill him. Everyone did, Lilith, Malakath, Zaroth, and Selene. Varzoth and Baal disagreed with the idea.

“I ran away, maybe this one did too.” Said Baal, who was the youngest of the group.

“Well what if they have some kind of magic to track them here, or teleport?” Said Zaroth.

Varzoth shook his head, “The Master Knight and his magic has only come in contact with us, he hasn’t gone to the important’s.”

Azazel entered the room, “He’s right, this one was brought to us by something much more powerful than the emperor.” Azazel held a glowing orb in his hands, a guardian orb. They were only bestowed to a person who was considered a guardian of the forge. “Time for interrogation.” Azazel walked into the room with the scout, only Varzoth and Lilith followed.

The scout had been sitting in the corner for the last day, and not saying much. He didn’t take any food or water, He just sat there saying 'finally’.

The scout came to the three, and cried. Then bowed, “I’m sorry! I didn’t know what was happening!”

This Lilith and Varzoth looked worried about. Azazel came to the scout, and pulled out bread from his robe. “Eat.” The scout nodded, and started devouring the bread. Varzoth watched in horror as the scout ate, he seemed to only take food when told to. “Why are you here?” Asked Azazel.

“I came to escape the important’s. That manticore was following me, but thought of this city as better prey. I found the truth about the important’s.” He said.

Varzoth nodded, “They’re plans.”

The man shook his head, “No, I am still fully loyal to the important’s. I just can’t think how they could go through with the fact of the brain stuff.”

Varzoth looked at Lilith who looked as surprised as he looked. Azazel put his hand on the boy’s shoulder, “What brain stuff?” He asked.

“Ever since the sky opened up, the important’s have been using mind controlling things on their soldiers. I escaped, that animal was mind controlled by the important’s.” The boy started to quiver after mentioning all of this, “They controlled my brother, took my memories.” He started to mumble more, but Varzoth couldn’t hear him.

“What are you talking about?” Asked Varzoth.

“The Master Knight did come to the important’s only with different purposes, he told them it was only a matter of time before they fell. The Emperor didn’t say it but he became obsessed with the idea of a spy, he started making all important’s go through an eye exam. He was using a piece of the forge to power it, it made the person go crazy. Then when it settled anything told to them they would do.”

“Like to obey the very one they were suspicious about.” Varzoth said.

“Yes, the people. One by one started following a schedule, and whenever told something they would do it. Even the forgekeeper was under the spell. When my brother had to do it, he stopped talking to me and only focussed on the emperor.”

“Were you affected by this?” Asked Lilith.

The scout shook his head, “All they did was put the…” The man stopped, and black veins sprouted from his neck. Going through his entire body, and slowly he stopped moving. Varzoth ran to his side and inspected him, no wounds or punctures. There was only a black mark that the veins met. The man died while they tried to force the power of the forge into the person, whoever they were had done a great service.
