Chapter 4
Varzoth and Lilith spend two days together, packing, planning, and a little more. They’d asked each other out one of the times, and they’d both said yes. They quickly made sure that wouldn’t be in the way though. They met up with their friends to tell them the plans, and Varzoth realized. Lilith had kept everything she and him had been planning and doing a secret. Nobody knew about anything, other than the whole dating part. For some reason everybody knew that. They got to their friends who were all giggling to themselves when they’d arrived.
“How was the planning?” Asked Selene, she smiled mischievously.
“Perfect.” Said Lilith, then she realized what she just said and how she meant it. “I mean, the plans are perfect. Um, just don’t”
Their friends started laughing, but eventually they got to be able to tell them the plan. Varzoth wouldn’t be performing the ritual, they all gasped at that. When Varzoth’s mom showed up, Selene’s eyes widened. She turned to Varzoth and signed. ‘Does she know?’
Varzoth shook his head and signed, ‘She doesn’t know about the plan.’
Selene shook her head, ‘I mean about you and Lilith.’
Varzoth waved her off, and hugged her mom. She was confused. “What’s this about?”
Varzoth shook his head, “I have to go.”
His mom nodded, “I understand, for this awakening correct?”
Varzoth nodded, “Yes, but you can trust my friends. We’ll keep each other safe.”
“I’m afraid for you. Not your friends, no offense but I don’t see them as family.”
“You should, I do. Lilith’s like a…” He realized what he was about to say, and looked at Lilith. Lilith smiled and nodded, “Lilith is actually my girlfriend, she’ll protect me. Don’t tell too many people about that though.”
His mother stopped hugging him and looked to Lilith, who lowered her head and waved. “If the Emperor even lays a finger on Var, well, he’d already be dead by then.”
His mother raised her chin, “Do you have any family?” Lilith froze, and shook her head. “So you're only related to one important.” His mother pointed at Varzoth, he didn’t expect that.
“Yes.” Lilith said a bit sheepishly, which almost never happened.
His mother nodded, “Then you're alright in my book.” Everyone let out a sigh of relief.
“Alright now that that’s settled, let’s start this journey!” Varzoth announced, wanting to get out of that situation. Varzoth’s mother stopped Lilith and hugged her too, adding to Lilith’s amazement.
They started riding to the city on their hoppers, and going over the plans over and over until everyone could recite them perfectly. Three days, and the awakening begins.
