Chapter 5
The next week went by in a flash, they mostly traveled. They went over the plans, again and again. Varzoth and Lilith practiced their fighting skills, and their friends made them go on small “Dates” you could say. Lilith said it could be cool, and it was. It was really fun, just letting everything go for a minute. Hanging out with Lilith, it was hard to believe five years ago they’d met in a desert. They had to find plenty of water holes, small passages that led directly to water, and use them for as long as they could. Once they got in sight of the palace, they walked on foot. Surprisingly the castle gates were wide open, and every soldier seemed to be going in the same motion.
“Alright guys, put on your hoods. These guards definitely looked brain washed.” Varzoth said to the group.
Lilith looked over to the guards while she put on her hood, “Their eyes are white.”
“And look at their movements.” Mentioned Zaroth, that’s not normal.
The soldiers eyes were indeed glazed over in white, and their movements were in the same motion every time. The same repeated movement.
“Alright, let’s just get to the throne room and…” He stopped speaking when he saw Karnyx, his old enemy who tried to kill him multiple times. He too was brainwashed, and moved repetitively.
Lilith pulled Varzoth out of his trance, “He’s lost, he can’t see. Keep moving.”
Varzoth nodded, although not fully believing it. They walked to the gates of the castle, and found they were guarded by two guards. One on the left and one on the right. Varzoth said double take out in sign language. Lilith nodded, and walked across not looking at the guard to the left. Varzoth got ready to kill the guard on the right. Lilith cut her guard, and Varzoth stabbed the guard on the right with his sword and quickly hid him. They both fell, and nobody noticed. Varzoth looked at the big door.
“Alright Baal this is where you come in, open the doors. They’ve definitely erased by hand but not yours, quickly.” Varzoth stood guard, making sure nobody saw his face. His friends followed his example. Baal quickly opened the door, and everyone slipped into the castle.
Once they entered Varzoth felt a strange pulling, and suddenly an alarm went off. The doors closed and multiple guards entered the hall, six to be exact. Varzoth looked at all of them, and they looked at him.
“Who are you trespassers!” The one in front yelled.
Varzoth smiled, “Us? Trespassers? No, we are just heroes. On a mission.” He took off his hood and turned into his emperor form, they started stabbing at him and did nothing. He grabbed his sword and swung it through all of them. They all advanced into the castle, his friends pulled out their weapons.
Lilith came up next to Varzoth, “Alive or Dead?”
Varzoth smiled, “All Demons deserve their own fates, it doesn’t matter how we leave them as long as we kill the emperor. That’s the only one we’re here to kill.” a group of soldiers ran at them.
“Undecided it is.” Lilith threw her daggers and impaled multiple of them. His friends were all saving the world from the important’s, and he realized and looked back on what his mother had said. These were more than his friends, these were his family.
