Chapter 2
The room was dark aside from some eerie looking fire braziers. Then an ominous voice roared, “You dare threaten my power boy.” It was a voice all too familiar. I turned to the side of the room to see a figure, much taller than me, standing in the shadows. “I picked you to live forever! Yet you stay with these little beings that have no purpose in life then to serve us? Disappointing.” The figure walked out to show a tall man, bigger than Varzoth in his emperor form, with a long cloak and snarling teeth.
“So I’d give a choice to my people other than rid them of their life and say they die. You were going to wipe them all out, admit it.” Varzoth said, holding his blade.
The Emperor laughed, “You know, I thought it was going to be harder to be honest with you. Taking over a whole island to do my bidding, that’s a lot. Somehow though, they continue to amaze me with their easily earned trust. They’ll do whatever I tell them to do, as long as others say it’s true.”
“You controlled the guards to say that you were right.” I guessed from the information I gathered.
The Emperor nodded, “All there needs to be is a little flicker, and it’s all there. Ready to be used.”
I clenched my fist around my blade, “But it’s not meant to be used.”
“But isn’t it?”
Varzoth screamed as he and his friends ran at the Emperor, Varzoth swung and lunged. Nothing. Again! Nothing, for as big as the Emperor was he moved fast. Varzoth had to think of how to defeat him. Then he remembered his connection to the forge, the same one this Emperor did. Somewhere in this palace was a forge unwillingly giving power to the Emperor, and all he had to do was use it. All they needed to do was… Destroy it.
Now you don’t understand how crazy it is to even think of destroying the forge, if one dies they all die. It’s all connected, now when one whole part of the forge dies all the powers given by the forge dies. If they were to destroy the forge the emperor is using, the emperor would be a normal demon again.
“Fall back!” Varzoth said, while fighting the Emperor in combat.
“What!?” Lilith said.
Varzoth looked at her and gave her a face he knew she’d never forget. She calls it the “I need this” face, then Lilith ran for the doors.
“Fall back!” She yelled. Everyone ran out the doors except the Emperor and Varzoth.
“Well little forgekeeper, just you and me now.” The emperor gave a wicked smile.
Varzoth smiled back, “Actually just you.” Varzoth paired his blade and ran for the doors, he turned around, closed them, and melted them shut. He turned around to see his friends down the hall. He ran to meet them.
“So what was that for?” Asked Lilith, they heard a roar from behind them. “Because I think that just made him angrier.”
“He’s drawing upon another forge.” Varzoth said, “We get the forge…”
“He has no power.” Lilith finished, then she ran faster. Then everyone followed her and Varzoth.
