Chapter 4
After the fall of the castle, and the death of the emperor. A lot of rumors spread, and people returned to the city. The Important’s most loyal guards, now without a leader, turned to Varzoth with dark intent. Others turned to Varzoth and defended him, and said that he’s the only other heir to the throne. That stopped people, and Varzoth. Everyone started talking, and many people came to the city of Romania to discuss. Including the village they had made. Varzoth had never seen so many Demons together, and they all either looked at him with hope or looked at him in a deadly snarl. Either way they listened to his story of the death of the Emperor, and about how Varzoth absorbed the forge. People started to believe him after they found the remnants of the forge, and the crown of the Emperor. People started talking and announced something Varzoth did not expect, for the first time in thousands of years Demons came together and voted for the next Emperor. Many camps were set for this event, for it would take days to do. The city was rebuilt a bit, the castle was reinforced, and the ground refilled. People choose representatives for different groups, Azazel was chosen for their village, and they began creating a democracy of some kind. Votes were put in for the representatives then the representatives put in all the votes for the Emperor. It was either Varzoth or someone else, they said they’d figure it out, but eventually all the representatives grouped together and announced the choosing.
“People of Romania! We have all together chosen our new ruler, until they say otherwise.” Said Azazel. He smiled at Varzoth, “The people have chosen Varzoth for our new emperor!”
Varzoth didn’t move for a solid minute until Lilith kissed him on the cheek to wake him up, “You did it!” He whispered, she motioned for him to go up to Azazel.
He smiled, “Thank you! I promise to serve as the fair ruler, and for peace to be held! No more shall we see the Darkness of Demons!” He didn’t really understand that part, it had kinda stuck with him ever since he’d said it to the former Emperor. Either way the crowd erupted into cheers. People celebrated in the newly built city for three days before going back home, the only people that stayed were Varzoth, Lilith, Baal, Malakath, Zaroth, and Selene. His mother left, on account she’d finally found a new purpose in the village and wanted to help it develop. They all stood on the balcony of Varzoth’s new room, looking over the fast growing city.
“It’s beautiful.” Said Lilith.
Varzoth nodded, “Perfect for both of us.”
Lilith smiled, “So what do we do now? I mean, you're the Emperor and I’m a common thief.”
Varzoth realized what she was talking about and looked at his friends, “Haven’t we scared them enough?” They all jumped up and started walking out the door.
“Yes you have, and we can never unsee it. Bye!” Said Zaroth as they all left the room.
Varzoth shook his head, “We continue as we were before, and if you want to go more then we shall.”
Lilith nodded, and kissed him. This was the best ending Varzoth could ever have, unfortunately, in a world like this. Varzoth's not sure that can ever truly happen.
