“Okay kid, listen, I don’t train warriors anymore, and those wolves are probably telling you fake thi—”
Somji angrily got up, flew out the house. Mounchioun immediately stopped eating and chased after her. There he stood, in disbelief, as he watched Somji circle the whole area in under a minute, and rush back into the hut.
“Now you believe me?!”
The room was silent. After a small staring competition, they went back to eating.
“Soooo, you want me to train the three of you?” asked Mounchioun.
“Well yea, why else would we come so far?”
“That’s true.”
Suddenly Nimji, startled, woke up.
“WHAT HAPPENED!?”
“Calm down Nimji, we’re safe, no need to worry about Kimji either, this is Mounchioun. He healed you and Kimji.”
Nimji did a slight bow to Mounchioun.
“Here, you must be hungry.”
Mounchioun placed the steaming bowl of ramen in front of Nimji. He immediately started chowing down.
The next day, Kimji had woken up and all four of them were discussing what to do. I mean, after all, something had to be done; they didn’t come all the way here for nothing.
“Ok, so listen, I will train you but I won’t be able to fight with you and show you how it’s done. You might have to figure that out on your own, I’m too old to do any of those moves.”
“I’ll train you guys to fight with fists and fight using kung-fu. Here is your schedule…”
Mounchioun went on to tell them about their daily routine:
-
Wake up 5:00, go on a run, come home and exercise
-
6:00 breakfast
-
6:30 Kung-fu training
-
7:00-7:30 break
-
7:30-9:00 fist fighting
-
9:00-11:00 stamina and breathing training
-
11:00-12:00 lunch
And the rest of the day would be spent finding weaknesses and working to improve them.
Nimji was quickly discovering his strengths, having little to no weaknesses. The thing is, Mounchioun created different training for each of the critters:
-
A strong, physical training focused on weight lifting and exercise for Nimji.
-
A speed-focused training for Kimji.
-
A flexibility/flying training for Somji.
Kimji was not doing well; he was fast, but his stamina was weak. He kept giving up and it was hard for him to get back up again. Somji meanwhile was doing well, but she had to train her flying speed ability with her armor on.
And just like that, Mounchioun was a new father figure to all three of them. Day after day, after day, he trained them — all four of them exhausted, but working well.
Suddenly one day Mounchioun called over all three of them when they were on their lunch break.
“NIMJI, KIMJI, SOMJI!!!”
“WHAT HAPPENED?” they came running to Mounchioun.
“What’s wrong?”
“Somji, remember you telling me about some wolves when I first met the three of you,” said Mounchioun. The room was filled with an eerie mist.
“Yes, they were the ones who saved Nimji and Somji, they are the whole reason we are here.”
“Welllll, I was looking through my library and did some research about the threat involving saving from three warriors. There are many stories out there, but the one with the jaguar, panda, and bee caught my attention,” he continued…
“The story had those three making a harsh journey to their lost master’s hut and receiving training from him, much like you guys. The threat they had to face was the Hantens, an immense army of wolves and foxes with psychic powers and unmatchable strengths….”
