Chosen Ones: Controlled Spy
Chapter 1
“So you found a new weird interest? Here I thought you couldn’t have any more.” Johnathan Brody said, while in Albert’s room.
Albert Duncan, Johnathan’s best friend, scoffed. “It’s not a weird interest, it’s just an interesting concept.”
Ever since leaving their first year of the MDSC, a multi-dimensional school for combat and magic, Johnathan Brody and Albert Duncan have been dead set on learning all they could to stay ahead in the coming year.
“Really? It’s just casting magic by drawing in the air, there’s nothing much to it.” Albert drew a weird design in the air and a small bird appeared on a stack of books, “Perfect!”
“Not falling for it again.” Johnathan said, and started conjuring his most powerful spell. It was called Desomation and was super overpowered. He flung his hand at the illusion and it disappeared along with the stack of books. Johnathan gasped, “Sorry about that.”
Albert threw up his hands, “Do you have to destroy everything you touch with that spell?”
“Well, it is called ‘Desomation’ I think that’s what it’s supposed to do.”
“That spell’s gonna kill you one day, how much mana does it cost?” Albert asked.
Johnathan shrugged, “Remember there’s no real ‘number’ for your mama pool, but last time I checked it was about eleven mana.”
“I told you!” Albert said.
“Oy! Are you lads alright up there?” Albert's father yelled from downstairs.
Albert rolled his eyes, “Ya, we're fine! Just trying out some of our spells!”
“Well alright then! Spell well!”
Now yes, was it weird that Albert’s family was British and they had an accent? Yes, all magic has something British in it though. “So, when ya gonna do it?” Johnathan asked, loving every small word Albert can’t get out.
“Wha… I mean… Are you… Umm.” Albert said.
He knew exactly what Johnathan was asking, “You are so afraid of her!” Ever since Johnathan had known Albert it was obvious he had this crush on a girl in their school named Naamah, and Johnathan thought it was hilarious. The three of them were this little group in the MDSC, and they hung out together. Most of the time it was him and Albert, but Naamah hung out with them at times.
“I am not afraid! I’m just waiting.” Albert said.
“If you say so.” Johnathan said smiling.
Albert shook his head, “Let’s focus on the problem at hand, you're gonna die if we don’t figure this out.”
Johnathan nodded. Ever since he’d figured out he was a Reality Mage, a mage who could control all of Time, Space, and Reality itself all at once, these weirdos called the controllers were hunting him while at his time at the MDSC. Which they would be leaving in two days, “Like I’ve said before, don’t worry about it. I’ll tell the Master Knight at some point”
Albert looked to Johnathan, “Some point, or never?”
Johnathan smiled, then looked outside the window to see his car. “Well, I won’t be able to answer your question because I have to go.” He started grabbing his things.
“Ok, have fun at summer school.” Albert said.
“Don’t remind me of that terrible place.” Johnathan said while grabbing his books, and papers. He always had a terrible track record in his past schools, so he had a mandated two more years before having a normal summer again. He ran out of Albert's house and said a quick goodbye to Albert’s parents before getting to his car.
Now, if some of you don’t know what summer school is, or if you don’t know what going to a normal school is after going to the MDSC itself. Then you're missing out, and you realize even more, that the normal world sucks. Paper tests, boring lessons. At the MDSC they literally let you fight monsters in hand to hand combat! What’s better than that! For now though, Johnathan was stuck in Summer school for one more day.
He did his normal routine enter, go into a corner, and go against every lesson he’d ever learned at the MDSC. He activated his new time spell, Speed and ran through the halls. He dashed past classmates, who weren’t even able to see him. He ran straight through the halls, making sure nobody saw him. When he stopped he was at the end of a hallway that took a few milliseconds to go down. He smiled. Then someone pushed him to the ground, and he knew he was in for some kind of beating.
“Well well well.” Said a boy that Johnathan despised, “If it isn’t the flunky, and the one who I need payback from.” A large boy, a year older than Johnathan stood over him. Brooks Bennett, he’d bullied Johnathan for years in some of his other schools. For some reason he just kept bumping into this kid.
Johnathan started to feel power coursing through him, and his hands slightly started to glow red. To the untrained eye you’d think he was clenching his fists too hard, but Johnathan was well aware of what reality magic looked like. He took a deep breath, and got up. “Hey, Brooks.” He said, “How ya doin?”
“Get kicked out of another school?” Brooks went on.
Johnathan shook his head, “Nope, now I don’t have to deal with jerks like you.” Then Johnathan remembered Matthew Murphy, who was basically the magic version of Brooks.
“Well, then I’ll have to make this beating extra hard.” Brooks said, smiling.
Brooks tried throwing a punch into Johnathan’s back, but after so many combat lessons Johnathan knew better. “The trick is to get in your opponent's head” Said Mr. Monium, their basic combat teacher and former superhero. He rolled out of the way, making Brooks hit the floor. He yelped, and Johnathan got up quickly.
Brooks' hand looked like it was bleeding, “You…” He said he threw another punch at Johnathan, but he just dodged. Johnathan started preparing a small see motion spell to help him out, but he didn’t need it. A few teachers came over and stopped Brooks from coming at him.
Johnathan nodded to the teachers, “Thank you.” He said.
The teacher in front nodded, “You're welcome.”
Johnathan watched the teachers pull Brooks away, and Johnathan smiled. Being at the MDSC had been the best time of his life, and he hoped it would only get better.
