Sports Day was a kind of event that involved all teachers, staff and students in one school. With the existence of student council in their school, teachers shared their workload with the student council.
Actually, more like they dumped it on the student council. And Eliana was one of those in charge for the event in their school.
“Eli!” a girl with ponytails shouted, waving her hand as she trotted closer to Eliana.
“Did you skip your club meeting?” Eli spoke with her hands on her waist.
“Hehe…” she giggled as she scratch her head.
“Don’t hehe me. So?”
The girl tilted her head in confusion. “So?” she returned her question.
“What you came for?”
“Oh! Right~ See~ Rafayel begged me to write down his name as part of the staff… So I did… But~ he didn’t get anything done… So~ please take responsibility…”
“…what?”
“Hold the rein, please~ He’s your boyfriend right…”
Eliana gnashed her teeth. “He’s not my boyfriend!!!” she shouted.
“Hm? But~ He called you his lover, though~”
“HA?! He what?”
“He called you his lover~” Lucy replied, shrugging her shoulders and tilting her head playfully.
“That’s it…” Eliana mumbled in soft voice. “I’ve had enough!” she shouted as she slammed the door, and stomped away.
Left alone, Lucy watch her back as she walk away. “Hm~ This two really are interesting~”
Rafayel who had taken interest toward Eliana began disturbing her daily routine. He engraved his very presence in her life. As if he’s trying to shout, ‘I’m here! Look at me!’ Loudly and boldly.
Rafayel who at the beginning, always seen flirting with girls, now would either sat and chat with the boys or spending time pestering Eliana. He even gained the tittle ‘henpecked husband.’
At first the boys would teased him but then they started to cheer him up. The girls was first disheartened. Why wouldn’t they? He was the flower boy every girls their age dreamed of.
However, since they opponent was the respected and friendly vice president of student council, they quickly gave up and had been supporting Rafayel in his attempt.
“Hey!” Eliana grumbled as she stood in front of him.
He was taking a break from the soccer match the boys had after school. While observing the match from the bench, a figures loomed forward and blocking his view. When he looked up to the face of the figures, his lips curved up, baring naked his white aligned teeth.
“El…” he called her name softly.
The way he sweetly whispered her name took her by surprise. She added another anomaly of his to her mental note.
‘Really… this world and that novel indeed not the same…’ she thought, sighing.
Shaking her head as she threw away those thought, she cleared her throat. Said, “You. You claim me as your lover?”
He rested his chin on his palm. “Claim? What a confusing statement. I’m just stating my point.”
“Your point was I’m your lover? Since when?”
“Since you agreed to be my lover.”
“Didn’t we already ended that meaningless relations?” she retorted, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Chuckling, he leaned backward. “I didn’t agree…” he said.
“What?”
“I didn’t agree to your proposal back then. So, we are still in this relationship.” Grinning from ear to ear, he rose from his seat.
She took a step back as he inched closer. He bent his upper body, so his face would be at the same height as hers.
“W—what?” stuttering nervously, she asked.
“I’m dying to plant a kiss on your cute chubby cheek, but I’ll hold back for today. Cause it’s immoral to force myself on you. Even if you’re my lover,” he replied, tucking a strand of her hair at the back of her ear.
Slap
Red hand print stuck on his face. Gasp. The onlookers eyes went wide. The soccer ball rolled by itself in the middle of the field, abandoned by the players. Everything and everyone paused as if they were frozen in time.
“That was a reflex. And, I won’t apologize. I won’t. Cause you were making me uncomfortable and invaded my personal space.
He turned his head, facing her again, with the smile that somehow didn’t fade away. “Good. Use that strength to keep any bug away. I don’t really appreciate a love rival.”
His answer baffled her mind. She stop thinking altogether and just walk away. ‘It’s useless to talk sense with a psycho,’ she reasoned in her mind.
After she left, the boys came to comfort him. However, he snickered and even said her angry face was cute and her slap was so lovely as if she peck his cheek with her hand.
Those comment of his resulted with the boys mortified face, telling him he was crazy. He only laughed it off.
After all, he really liked discovering various expression of hers. He never thought that learning new things about her would brought so much joy in his dull life.
“Ah~ I wonder what this alien emotion stirring in my heart,” he uttered as he walked away.
