Raven

Titan and I sat in the back of a black van, Augury in the front. This far out on the fields there were plenty of “TURN BACK THIS IS MAB PROPERTY. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY. PRIVATE PROPERTY DO NOT TRESSPASS.” signs. When we saw a large metal fence rise 10 meters into the air I felt my boredom slip away. Armed men stood at a gate, two armoured trucks parked beside them. As we got closer I could see just how much the fence accompanied. We were decently far off shore but the entire base ran from here to the shore of the island… Was this a stupid decision, was I too premature?

I saw the base through the fence, many concrete cylindrical and circular buildings conjoined by large hallways. The windows were tinted black.

It didn’t matter if I was realising that, not now, it was too late. This was happening. “Now!” Titan’s deep and demanding voice spoke. Augur pressed onto the break as hard as he could, the van swerved as the guards looked down their sights at the van. Augur climbed into the back of the truck, he gripped his staff roughly, purple electricity crackling off its sphere.

The sky turned grey and thunder clapped throughout it. “HEY! OPEN UP!” The guards pounded on the back of the van. Augur pointed the tip of the staff toward the back… A large beam of purple light shot outward and blew the doors of the van off its hinges, it screeched through the air disintegrating the guards on the spot, the gate blew open with a purple explosion. Dust swirled, alarms rang.

“Now we move.” The robot, Titan, said. We all stepped out of the van and walked into the vicinity of the base. We were immediately met with a wall of soldiers, I spun around, my thick coat swirling, purple mist covering me. Immediately in a puff of purple smoke I was behind the soldiers, I scratched the claws of my gloves through the flesh of their backs. As others turned around I teleported away again and in front of them, launching a kick into one of their guts.

Before they could lay a finger on Augur or Titan, I had them on the floor either dead or dying. I turned forward again pushing the double glass doors open into the lobby of MAB.

Bullets shot everywhere in a blur, I sprung my hands up and trails of purple smoke tackled soldiers to the ground. Augur slammed his staff into the ground and a purple sphere suddenly surrounded us, a shield. Up on a balcony a man with dark skin,  in metallic blue armour stood in front of everyone.

On his helmet were glowing blue eyes, where his mouth was his helmet was open. He held an odd looking rifle. Dozens of soldiers were on the balcony that wrapped around the second floor of the lobby. Dozens more were scattered on the first floor. Titan locked eyes with the man in blue armour. The man was the famous hero, Legacy.

“Brother…” He said looking down at Titan.

“I am nothing of the sort!” Titan said, before motioning me to do something. I teleported behind Legacy scratching my claws across his back, he spun around and placed his rifle onto his back. His mouth-piece of his mask slid into place protecting Legacy’s mouth. I scratched my claws across his mouth, he smacked my arm away and threw a punch to where my nose was. It barely hurt. I thrust my hands forward and a purple cloud hovered in front of me, electricity crackling through it. The cloud smacked into Legacy sending him flying into the wall.

Augur let his forefield disappear, he launched a purple beam from his staff onto one half of the balcony, a purple explosion rang out on one side of the balcony, I took the other.

“Lets go!” Titan said demandingly. We chased him down the halls, easily taking out guards and soldiers. Eventually we made it to what Titan wanted. A large room with one large stage in the middle. Computers and mechanical lasers and arms surrounded.

Titan walked to the largest computer and monitor, placing a USB drive into it. He typed away at the computer, eventually he walked up to the stage and stood in the middle.

Me and Augur kept people from entering the room, using whatever magic we could. Titan kept demanding for us to hold longer. We watched as the arms welded pieces of metal to him, as the once wiry and weak looking robot became larger. A glowing visor was placed where his two eyes were, his face plate was silver, he wore large gauntlets, spikes arising from his forearms. Two large spikes now arose from his back, his boots were now thick. The armour was comprised of black, grey, and red.

Augur and I couldn’t hold the soldiers from the door anymore. “Move.” Titan said, walking from the stage and raising his arm to the door. The back of his hand opened revealing two small missiles, they launched and smacked into the door-the explosion was small but it worked. “Now.” Titan said. “Shall we depart?” He rhetorically asked me and Augur. He nodded to us as he walked to the entrance from where they came. He easily worked his way through more and more hordes of soldiers, just his fists, every punch he threw made them squeal in pain, every bullet ricocheted off him.

He walked up to a wall. His visor lit up red… A large beam blasted through the wall from his visor. We all walked out, the moon shining down on us.

“See, I told you the boy was ready.” Titan said as smug as a faceless robot could.

From the building as we walked away blue lights shone. “That’s enough, Titan!” Legacy stepped out of the building, pieces of his right arm jolted about shifting into the form of a canon. He raised the canon.

“Oh brother. How naive you are.” Titan blasted a ray from his visor, blasting Legacy away. “I am stronger and smarter than you will ever be!”

In the swirling dust and debris a man in a bomber jacket with receding blonde hair stepped out, he looked dishevelled, his forehead was encrusted with blood. He raised a pistol to Augur. I turned and saw this… “NO!” I teleported to the man wrapping my legs around his neck and flipping him through the air slamming him to the ground. BANG! I whipped my head around to see Augur falling to the ground, blood shot out of his chest, it dripped down his back… “NO AUGUR!!” I teleported away from the man snatching his gun. I grabbed Augur and slowly let him fall into a lying position.

“Pathetic.” Titan said. “Leave him Raven, we must leave. Now.” He looked at me, but I sneered under my hood. Augur groaned in my arms.

“Go Raven…” He rubbed his hand along the middle of his chest, next to the bullet wound. He pulled his mask up a little and reached down his body suit pulling out a necklace, on it was strung a small crystal. “Raven… Take this…”
“NO!” I said, I wanted to get my anger, my sadness, all of it out, but I couldn’t cry. I wasn’t human anymore.

“Now.” Titan’s visor began to glow, “Or else.” I was ready to fight him at this point, but a flash of pink light struck Titan in the side sending him skittering away. Someone in a kimono slid across the ground. He wore a long golden, black, and pink hooded kimono, he had a cat mask. He held two kama in his hands. Pink and white electricity rippled around him.

“Who and what are you?” He asked me, darting his eyes around the scene taking it in, gripping his kama tighter.

“Doesn’t matter.” I said before I disappeared in a cloud of smoke. I appeared behind him again kicking him to the ground. He quickly rolled and recovered, he sprung at me as I prepared to attack again. Before I could dodge he was on me, the golden blade of his kama struck my head, electricity surged through me, sending me blasting through the air.

I teleported before I smacked against the ground, the small necklace Augur held to his chest now crackled with purple electricity, a punch from the man I had to teleport just to dodge it… He’s fast… When I reappeared the necklace was in my hand… What? No… How… I grabbed the cat masked man by the shoulders and yanked us both down a small hill. When we reached the bottom I punched my-crystal-gripping-fist into his mask, with a ripple of purple energy the mask shattered.

Under the mask; was a boy my age, about sixteen, he had floppy blonde hair swept to one side, scared deep blue eyes. I stopped in my tracks, he looked up at me before grabbing me by my legs and slamming me to the ground.

The cat mask reformed as if it was a magnet and shot back up to his face. He leapt forward striking one of his blades into the ground, the ground erupted with dirt and lightning, I teleported away again. Behind him, again, I struck him with a punch of purple electricity, another punch, another, another, another… Blood spurted out from underneath the mask.

Punch.

Punch.

Punch. Anger filled me. Punish him! END HIM! KILL HIM! A voice screamed in my head. So I kept punching, and punching. The eyes on the cat mask shifted to something more narrow, electricity shot out of the eyes, and before I could think the kid grabbed onto my shoulder and flipped over me, he struck a kama in my side, leaving it there, he then swept the leg. Pain coursing through me, real pain. Pain like I hadn’t felt since I was a human paralysed me to the spot. My gloves began to glow purple, I felt sadness, anger, turmoil, emerge, boil under my skin, crackle, slither up my tongue. Then I felt it unleash.

Purple tendrils whipped around me throwing the cat masked man away, I gasped, they lifted me, the tendrils coiled around Augur and Titan, and then we were gone.

JUSTIN

I felt the air blast against my back as the three disappeared. “No!” I said as I watched the one in white and black aim his staff at my dad… Just as he disappeared a thin purple beam shot through my dads chest. “NOOOOO!” I said as I slammed into a tree… Like I was at Moren lake again I felt my consciousness be pulled out from under me.

Didn’t expect the two MC’s to interact that soon. Good motives set up for both of them for wanting to keep fighting each other.
