No…
No…
It can't be…
Staring out that window, looking at the disappearing barrier, Granny's voice came to my mind.
“The past is alive, my child . With this, I have taught you all I know. Your destiny is near..”
It felt as if the world had stopped rotating. As if the sound had cut out.
The only way that the barrier would be able to disappear like that was if…
Granny was dying…
My mind was blank.
The ministers all panicked at the situation at hand. Wondering how in the world such a thing was possible.
Me? I was calm….
On the outside at least…
My body…
It moved on its own…
I remember running; running out the Assembly Chambers. The ministers and my parents followed behind me…
The city was chaotic. Adults in panic and children in fear…
The ministers ran to calm the citizens. To try to tell them everything would be ok. I don't think they believed them.
I should have joined the ministers, after all, I was the heir to the throne. It was my duty to care for the citizens….
But all I could think of was Granny…
My legs moved faster than I could process..
Before I knew it, I was running up the hill, praying and hoping that my fear was fake.
If I couldn't walk, I would crawl…
I just needed to see her sitting on her chair again, happy to see me as always…
I wasn't ready to let go of her…
I wasn't ready to face my fear, but I was forced to.
My knees almost buckled as I reached the top, my breath ripping through my throat like fire.
The cabin stood before me, small and still…
The eerie atmosphere strangled my throat as if attempting to kill me.
The door… it wasn't closed…
Cracked open just a bit, it swayed lightly with the gentle breeze…
“Please…” I whispered, my voice breaking as the tears streamed down my cheeks.
Emotions boiling over as I pushed through the door with trembling fingers.
-creeaaak-
The scent hit me first. The thick and pungent scent of blood.
I fell to my knees…
Screaming, Crying, Wailing.
I crawl over to her cold body. My trembling hands hold her limp and frail hand.
Bringing her hand to my forehead, the strangled sound tore from my heart…
I pleaded, I begged, I cried, but nothing brought her back.
Something inside me cracked…
Could it be anger?
Or…
Could it be resentment?
With one last scream of grief, my power erupted outwards like a wave.
The dust from the ceiling fell, shaking violently.
People from far and wide felt the tremor, stretching beyond the lands of the planet.
I couldn't stop it, I didn't know how to…
The screams of children echoed through the city, but all I could think of was the lifeless body before me.
Far beyond the city, the tremor erupted, spreading further and further.
Just then, a figure moving far away from the city, stopped. With a bloody knife in hand, he slowly turned.
His pitch black eyes gazed at the direction of the force and with one last movement, he brought the knife up to his mouth.
His tongue stretching beyond his lip, he licked the blood off of the knife…
And smiled…

Deep beneath the ocean, the pulse of power charged the waters, rippling across the ocean floor…
Sea creatures swam into hiding as the ocean moved.
The surge of power emanated throughout the waters…
Colliding with a being which laid in rest on the ground…
She felt it…
She felt the power…
Her eyes snap open, glowing with a silver light that cut through the shadows of the water
My destiny was upon me…
And so was the darkness…
