Echoes from the underworld

The First Meeting Kasu and Yume

The First Meeting Kasu and Yume

Aug 26, 2025

The echo of footsteps echoed through the halls of the underworld. The demon realm had fallen silent, a silence that settled after grief.

Kasu Lucian, twelve years old and already standing as the son of Death himself, sat silently on the onyx throne meant for a king. Kasu had pale, marble-like skin. He had long, flowing silver hair with a faint ethereal sheen. Kasu had silver eyes, they often turned black when he was overwhelmed with emotion and are both captivating and unnerving.

Kasu did not flinch. He did not speak. He simply waited. The heavy doors groaned open.

Draegon Lucian- Kasu's father stepped in, regal and terrifying as ever, and in his arms he carried a child. A fox demon, no more than seven years old, his small body scarred by scratches, his cheeks stained with tears and blood. Yume Zion, a demon with the power of dreams and nightmares.

Draegon's voice was quiet, but it filled the room like a spoken sentence.

"This is Yume Zion. He will be trained to be your protector."

Kasu didn't rise. His silver eyes narrowed, looking up and down the ragged boy in his father's arms. A protector? The boy couldn't even lift his head from Draegon's chest to look at Kasu.

Yume's ears twitched nervously. His dream energy, still pulsing faintly around him—a haze of light and shadow that shimmered and collapsed in the same breath. His eyes were swollen, his soul was weak. And yet, as Draegon gently set him down, Yume forced herself to look up.

Their eyes met. Kasu was a boy carved from discipline, silence, and purpose. Yume, a boy torn by loss, power, and guilt.

For a moment they just looked at each other. The air between them was not innocent. It was heavy with futures neither of them understood yet.

Kasu tilted his head slightly. There was no cruelty in his gaze. No sympathy either.

"He's shaking," he said, his voice calm but cold. "How is he supposed to protect me?"

Draegon said nothing. But Kasu saw only a flicker of it. Regret. Or maybe it was something deeper, something broken. Draegon turned his gaze to Yume.

"He'll learn. He has no other way now." Yume flinched when Draegon said that.

Kasu's eyes narrowed. The boy's body was a spiral of fear and tension, but there was something else too. Something Kasu recognized, even if he didn't know the word for it yet. "What's wrong with him?" Kasu asked.

"He blinded his stepmother," Draegon replied without emotion. "His father Kaze told me to take care of his son."

Kasu rose from the throne and walked slowly toward Yume, his black boots echoing on the polished stone floor. When he stopped in front of the boy, he crouched down slightly so that they were at eye level.

"Why did you blind your stepmother?" Kasu asked.

Yume didn't answer. But his breath stopped. His eyes filled with water that wouldn't fall.

"I didn't mean to," he whispered. "I didn't know how to stop my power..."

Kasu stared at him. And something small shifted behind those silver eyes. He crossed his arms. "Good," he said simply.

Yume blinked, confused. Startled. "Why... good?"

"Because it means it wasn't a weakness," Kasu said. "It was your power and it means it's a strong force."

Draegon set Yume down on the floor. Kasu turned to his father. "I'll train with him. But I don't want him to be treated like a servant."

Draegon raised an eyebrow. "Do you want him as an equal?"

"No," Kasu replied coldly. "I want him to be strong. Strong enough to protect me, even if he hates me for it."

Kasu looked at Yume, before turning away he said to the fox demon "If you are going to follow me, Yume Zion... don't cry again. Not in front of another demon."

The young fox demon said nothing. But as the door closed behind Kasu, leaving Draegon and Yume alone in the room, Yume bowed her head low to the floor.

Not in awe, but in the beginning of submission. Deep within the quiet corner of the throne room. A new one bound in the bearing of the underworld. A protector was born. Yume Zion- Kasu Lucian's protector.

Some Years Later
The hot spring steamed beneath the moonlight, its surface shimmering like pale smoke. Mist curled lazily over the stones, the air thick with heat and silence. The world around them felt suspended in time.

Kasu Lucian, soon to be ruler of the underworld, stood with water cascading down his muscular body, dripping over his long silver hair, and tracing the sleek, dark curve of his black tail. Two large horns curved from his head, dark and imposing, their elegant sweep emphasizing the power beneath his calm exterior.

Yume stood a few paces away, his eyes fixed on Kasu. His breath caught in his throat as he watched the older demon. "Kasu is so beautiful" Yume thought, unable to tear his gaze away.

Yume was beautiful in his own right—his shoulder-length red hair shimmered in the moonlight like liquid flame. His fox ears twitched at the softest sounds, and his long, fluffy red tail moved nervously in the water behind him.

Kasu had become his world, his duty, his responsibility. The man he was sworn to protect, and yet the one his heart beat for in secret.

Over the years, their bond had deepened into something more than mere protection. They had become best friends, something rare and precious. But Yume's feelings had changed. They had grown stronger with time, becoming a constant ache he could no longer ignore.

But he never spoke of it. Not to Kasu. Not to anyone. The fear of ruining what they had—the friendship that had anchored him for so long kept him silent. Kasu never made a move to acknowledge what lingered in the space between them. He suspected, of course. Yume was sure of that. But Kasu never confirmed it. He only teased, flirted, with that charming, ever-present smirk of his.

But Kasu would never feel the same. Not for him, Yume had long accepted that. Still, he couldn't stop looking.

"Yume," Kasu's voice interrupted his thoughts, low and playful, yet piercing. "You've been staring for a while now."

Yume's breath caught. His heart hammered in his chest. He looked away, panic rising in him.

"I...sorry," he muttered, his voice barely audible. "I was just... making sure you weren't being targeted."

Kasu tilted his head, glancing back over his shoulder, the moonlight catching the cold gleam of his silver eyes. His smirk deepened. "By what? Moonlight?"

Yume's face flushed. "Why does he do this?" Yume thought, His heart quickened as his fox ears twitched in nervousness. He hated how easily Kasu could get under his skin.

"Old habits," he replied quickly, straightening his back as he tried to regain composure. "I'm your protector. It's my job to keep you safe."

Kasu's smirk grew, and he turned fully to face him. The silver light bathed his features, making them even more striking. The coldness of his eyes—familiar yet unsettling—made Yume's pulse race.

"Is that all you are to me, Yume?" Kasu's tone was smooth, almost taunting. "Just a protector?"

Yume's throat went dry. He knew this game. Kasu had been playing it for years now, these flirtatious comments that always hovered just shy of something more. Never quite crossing the line. But the unspoken words were there, waiting.

"I... I don't know what you mean," Yume stammered, his pulse quickening.

Kasu stepped forward, closing the gap between them, until Yume could feel the heat of his presence. His fingers brushed a strand of red hair from Yume's face, tucking it behind his ear with surprising gentleness. Kasu's hand lingered on Yume's cheek for a beat too long.

"You always say so little," Kasu murmured, voice low, as his touch burned where it lingered. "But your eyes... they speak louder than your words."

Yume's breath hitched. His tails twitched behind him, betraying his nervousness. "Kasu..."

Kasu leaned in, his face inches from Yume's. His breath, warm and soft, brushed across Yume's skin, sending a shiver through him.

"Why do you look at me like that?"

Yume's voice was barely more than a whisper, his heart racing in his chest. "Because... because you're beautiful."

The words spilled out before he could stop them. He froze, panic flooding his chest. His eyes widened. "I...I didn't mean like that, I did, but not like.."

Kasu's finger pressed gently to Yume's lips, silencing him. His gaze darkened, and he leaned in just enough for their faces to be a breath apart.

"Shh," Kasu murmured, the softness of the moment at odds with the intensity in his eyes. "Don't ruin the moment by apologizing."

Yume's heart thundered. He could feel Kasu so close. So close. But still, so far away.

Then, Kasu's arms wrapped around him, pulling him into a hug. It was warm. Safe. Comforting. "You're beautiful too, Yume," Kasu whispered, his voice low. "You're my best friend. But... I don't have feelings for you."

Yume stood still in his embrace, his own heart aching. His voice trembled when he responded.
"I... I don't have feelings for you either," he said, though his words felt like they were betraying him.

Kasu pulled back slightly, his smirk returning. He looked at Yume with a teasing gleam in his eyes. "If you say so, Yume."

Then, before Yume could say another word, Kasu leaned in and kissed him. Yume closed his eyes, his hands reaching out—grasping lightly at Kasu's arms, pulling him closer, like he could stay in that moment a little longer.

When Kasu pulled away, his voice was light, like nothing had changed.
"A friendly kiss," he said, his lips curling into that infuriatingly perfect smirk.

Yume's chest tightened. His heart pounded painfully against his ribs, and his breath was shallow. He nodded mutely, even as his world seemed to crumble beneath him. Just a friendly kiss. But to Yume, it felt like so much more.

A few days  later
Draegon Lucian, ruler of the underworld, loved his son, though he never showed it. His relationship with his son Kasu was one of cold pride and immense pressure. Draegon never expressed affection towards Kasu; he wanted his son to inherit his ruthless way of ruling the demon realm. As the heir to the throne, Kasu was the only one Draegon saw fit to rule the realm one day. To become a great leader, Kasu had to be as cruel as his father.

But that wasn't the only reason Draegon kept his emotions hidden from his son. Kasu reminded him of his wife; rumors had spread that he had killed her, though no one knew if the rumors were true. No one dared to ask, if they did he might kill them.
Draegon wanted his son to be as feared as he was when he took over the throne one day. Even though Draegon never showed it, there was a deep, dark love for his son, twisted by his own bitterness. Even if he had never shown any emotions towards his son.

Draegon soul was like a storm of rage, regret, longing, and insatiable ambition. He despised all gods, spirits, demons, and humans—even his own existence. His hatred was the driving force behind his feelings for his son, Kasu Lucian, behind every action he took. Draegon often used fear and cruelty to control others.

Despite his overwhelming hatred for everything, there was an undeniable sense of pride within Draegon. He believed himself to be the rightful ruler of the demon realm, and he saw his strength as the key to the realm's survival.

When Draegon's friendship and love with Kaze Zion ended, it shattered Draegon's heart, filling him with rage and hatred. He had once loved the fox demon Kaze, but when Draegon became leader, they could no longer remain friends. Deep down, Draegon missed Kaze Zion, but he would never admit it to anyone—not even to himself.

Draegon sat alone in his throne room, deeply absorbed in his thoughts when Yume and Kasu entered the room. Yume Zion, the strikingly beautiful fox demon, immediately captured Draegon's attention. His long red hair, his fox ears perched atop his head, and his long, fluffy red tail that moved gently behind him—everything about Yume was mesmerizing. His presence had a magnetic pull, especially for Draegon.

Yume's appearance was like a memory from the time when Draegon had been deeply in love with his father, Kaze Zion. Yume was a reminder of that lost love, and to Draegon, he was more than just an apprentice—he was a reminder of everything he could never have again.

The two-colored eyes that Yume possessed were the most beautiful Draegon had ever seen. His red eye burned with an intensity that could conjure nightmares, while the ice-blue eye brought calm and peaceful dreams. For Draegon, it was a constant reminder of the duality in Yume's nature—the beautiful yet dangerous balance between light and darkness.

Draegon had taken on the responsibility of raising Yume when he was young, helping him control his powers, his ability to create both dreams and nightmares. Despite this, Draegon harbored a forbidden desire, a secret infatuation for Yume, something he could never admit—not even to himself.

Yume was now the protector of Kasu Lucian, Draegon's son. Draegon knew they were close—closer than they should be. Yume sometimes slept in Kasu's bed, and the thought of it made Draegon feel jealous. But he never said anything about it. He knew there was nothing more between them, and he didn't want to create unnecessary conflict.

Kasu, his son, was a strong and imposing young man. He shared the same large black horns as Draegon, and his muscular body was a testament to his strength and discipline. His long silver hair, and silver-colored eyes reflected a cold yet proud determination. He had a dark purple shirt, and black skin pants. Kasu was beautiful in his own way, but in Draegon's eyes, he was still not as beautiful as Yume.

When Kasu spoke and bowed before him, Draegon heard his voice—a neutral, innocent question: "Father, do you need help with anything today?" Kasu was the perfect son, always in the right place at the right time, but still far from understanding the complex, jealous world Draegon had created for himself.
Yume also bowed, but his voice was soft and respectful when he said, "Draegon my lord."

Draegon looked at the two of them, Yume was more beautiful than anyone could imagine, with his long red hair that fell gently to his shoulders. He had a black lace top- with a purple tank top under it, fancy black pants, and black high-heeled boots, and his eyes filled with both warmth and the cold distance that had always been part of him. Draegon gazed at Yume, and for a brief moment, it was as though time itself had stopped. His gaze was almost trapped by the beautiful fox demon.

"No, there's nothing I need help with," Draegon finally said, with a bitter tone that hid all the emotions he fought so hard to suppress. His voice was cold and expressionless, but in his heart, there was a storm of feelings he could never express.

As Yume and Kasu left the room, Draegon remained behind, his eyes fixed on their fading silhouettes. The two of them, so close to each other, so unaware of the pain he carried alone. And he was trapped in his own prison of forbidden feelings and secrets.

Kasu Lucian's life is defined by loss, betrayal, and an unyielding thirst for power. Raised by his emotionally distant father, Draegon Lucian, Kasu was taught that love was a weakness and power must be earned through strength alone. This harsh ideology was enforced when Draegon killed Kasu's wife, Senora Lucian, to sever his emotional ties and weaken him.

Yume Zion is a Fox Demon and protector of Kasu Lucian, whom he has loved unconditionally since childhood, though his feelings remain unrequited. His loyalty to Kasu leads to emotional turmoil, especially as he navigates a passionate yet complicated affair with Asmodeus, the Demon of Lust.

Asmodeus, the Demon of Lust and Manipulation, is shaped by a history of obsessive and controlling relationships. He cannot separate love from domination, using affection as a means of power. His most recent obsession is Yume Zion, a powerful fox demon. What began as a manipulative game to seduce Yume quickly evolved into a deep, infatuated bond.
