[Jessie and her friends are gathered in the school hallway in the morning prior to the start of classes.]
Jessie: Ladies, the reason I brought you all together is that I'm hosting a sleepover at my house tonight.
Jenny: Oh, a sleepover? That sounds fun, I'm in.
Luna: Count me in as well!
Emma: I'm in too.
Stephanie: Me, four!
Caroline (with a look of disappointment): I wish I could join, but I have some commitments. Sorry, everyone. Maybe you can find someone to take my place.
Jessie: Okay then! I'll do my best to find someone to fill your spot tonight!
[Caroline start running toward the main door.]
Emma: It's really unfortunate that Caroline can't be with us tonight. She's been caught up with her life outside of school, and I'm beginning to feel concerned. Since my brother vanished without a word, Caroline has no idea where he could be. My brother was ready to tell how he felt towards Caroline but it never happened.
Stephanie: Does anyone know what Caroline is doing these days? She hardly speaks to us as if we don't exist.
Olivia: I'm not really sure. A few months before Emma's brother went missing, Caroline had such a vibrant personality, but now she seems so down. I'm really worried about her.
Jenny: So Jessie, have you decided who will take Caroline's place at your sleepover tonight?
Jessie: I was thinking of inviting Sofie to fill her spot, if that's alright with you girls?
Jessie: Stop making those faces. I know you girls haven't liked her since she became part of our group, but who else can I ask to take Caroline's place for tonight?
[Jessie goes to Sofie's locker and asks if she has plans for tonight. Sofie replies no, which means Jessie is invited to her sleepover to take someone's spot. Jessie returns to her group and tells them that Sofie will be joining us for the sleepover tonight.]
Sleepovers are meant to be fun-a mix of giggles and late-night treats, But this one feels off. Someone in the group is not who they claim to be. Dive into this short play in which one of the characters is not who they appear to be.
