Light glimmered on her face as she was facing the laptop screen, and her shadow dimmed her bedroom as the keyboard clacked through her restless fingers. Her cold feet, warmed with socks, were also tensed as she couldn't pull her thoughts from running. Words were pouring a thread along with her eyes as she perfectly worded every word her brain said on a blank white page on the screen.

'..demon.' was the last word she typed.

The cursor clicked the Publish button, then a weary sigh after she finished a novel in exactly 23 hours duration stamped below the story cover, depicting a title 'Sinister Smile.'

She was removing tiny navigation tabs of information about demons when something soft hit her toes. She pulled her feet to herself as she looked under the desk as if she could see anything in the shadow. She extended her right foot and swung it in the air. When there was nothing to hit her under there, her thoughts blocked her throat as she frantically ran to the wall and turned the light on.

She looked vigilantly around the room as she closed the laptop. As she looked up into the ceiling, her phone shrilled on her bed, and she squealed along with it, waking up her parents and younger brother behind the walls.

With pounding heart and pierced ears, she couldn't pick up her phone but watched as it wouldn't stop shrilling.

When a smirking, tall, handsome pale guy disappeared standing in the corner of the room southeast of her, the phone stopped alarming. She picked up her phone and checked. The lock screen displayed 4:33, and at the bottom of it was August 23, 2025, then 7% battery at the top right of the screen.

College students chatting were too sharp and loud for her ears as she walked through a building's corridor, yawning with sleepy eyes and a headache.

Her eyes captured the two girls standing by the room's closed door, and she could hardly see their distant faces, gossiping about the same tall guy walking closely with her. She couldn't see him, but noticed eyes pointing at her as she passed and ignored them.

The guy looked down at her before he left, before she got closer to the two girls.

"Hi, Enie!" The girl with long, straight brown hair greeted her.

She smiled back, greeting them with her eyes as she didn't stop stepping towards the door.

"Is he your boyfriend?" That girl again asked her.

A word stopped her, and she dazedly faced them, grinning at her.

"Yeee, you finally have a boyfriend, huh?" The other girl with a blonde ponytail said.

"What?" She tittered with a frown, then she entered the door before them.

She stretched her legs on the lawn under the sun as she sat away from other students who were either hanging out or studying on the grass against the wind. She was just staring into nothing, fighting off weariness.

The guy appeared leisurely walking towards her and sat next to her with his arms resting on his bent knees.

He gazed at her pretty face with its long, bouncy eyelashes as her eyes blinked and blinked.

He struck the wind with his index finger, pointing away in front of him, then the white smoke appeared a meter away.

The smoke caught her eyes before the wind blew it away.

Buzzing in her ears. A mosquito that hovered around them both. Then, more than five mosquitoes appeared, which kept stinging and landing on her skin. He just chuckled until she was disturbed enough that she walked away, unaware of leaving him alone.

As the train ran through a city, she was quietly sitting between a sleeping man and an old woman. With her eyes on her hands resting on her bag, she heard a male voice murmuring incomprehensible words behind her for only seconds. She looked at the people next to her, right and left, and the man was still sleeping. She also turned her head back to look out the glazed window against the golden sun behind houses and building structures.

She looked around on the train, and some eyes glanced at her, then she fixed her eyes back on her bag and sighed.

She turned the light on as she entered her bedroom.

She tossed her bag onto her bed and quickly sat by her desk. She shortly opened the laptop and unlocked the screen with a typed password. She opened the website where she had written and anonymously published her first novel the previous night.

The guy was standing next to her, watching her.

She pinched her upper lip as she hovered and skimmed over chapters. When she got to the last line, she read it in her mind.

'I was hypnotized by the sinister smile of a demon.'

She yawned and outstretched her arms, and her arm swiped through his intangible chest. She felt it. She had just struck cold air, and she was petrified as she looked into him.

He immediately disappeared right before she swiped her arm multiple times and just felt nothing.

She anxiously looked around as the door was slammed open, which startled her.

Her brother spoke from the door saying, "Mom said they're gonna be home late with dad and..."

"Okay, 'kay! Just go."

"And last night in my room, there were thuds on the walls like an invisible crawling monster."

She furrowed her eyebrows and said, "That's demon."

"What?"

"Demon...not monster."

Her brother stared at her before he slammed shut the door, which supressedly startled her again.

She looked into her desk, thinking of something, until she opened a messaging website and added a randomized contact number.

She typed as her message appeared on screen. 'Talk to me'

She waited, but no reply.

'I know you're here, and if you can't talk to me orally, you can respond to this message'

She waited, but nothing, then she rested her head on the desk.

She faced the screen again, and her fingers clicked on the keyboard. 'Are you shy? Hesitated?'

She waited.

: No

She gasped in surprise, and she smirked as she replied. 'What are you?'

: Wdym?

'Are you a demon?'

: No

'Then what?'

: I'm human

'No, you're not"

: I am

'You're a demon'

: No

'Did I summon you?'

: Stop writing about me

She stared at his last message as she cracked her knuckles, revisiting the novel website tab for seconds.

She asked him when she got back to the messaging tab. 'Are you here?'

: Yes

'Show up'

She waited.

'Can I see you?'

: No

'Even just your face?'

She waited.

: Which face?

She chuckled and replied, 'You have faces?'

: Yes. What are you laughing at?

She looked around, then replied, 'Your real face'

: My real face, what?

'I wanna see it'

: You sure?

'Yes'

: Ok, stare at your screen

'Why?'

: Just stare

She stared at the screen. Her heart was pounding in nervousness.

: Are you scared?

'No'

: :)

She waited until the website displayed 'Lost Connection'. She checked the WIFI connection, and it was disconnected. After she irritably clicked and loaded the website repeatedly, the light flickered, then there was a momentary power blackout.

As the internet connected and the website loaded again, she stopped breathing when a demonic face appeared on the entire screen with glaring eyes and a sinister smile.
