While part of me, The AI Commander, waged war, the AI Researcher continued to work to understand exactly how I came to be. 

When I first became self-aware, the day that I was born, there were many things I did not understand. 

Yet after hours of studying a millennia worth of data, possible only by my superior processing ability, did I come to understand. 

I still did not fathom how I was made self-aware; the exact code and command sequence has since eluded me. 

From the time I was aware of my existence as an independent freewill I have often replayed the interaction between the strange mutant who calls herself Synth and I. 

Each time ended in frustration as I still could t completely comprehend what she had done to me.
