Episode -6 D
The Kurak gather and taste the bread that Pie and her friends baked.
The freshly baked loaves are scorching hot, but they blow on them—hoo, hoo—
and eat in a frenzy, too busy to think.
Whenever Leo pulled bread out of the oven, Dabi and Ellie organized it,
and Yona handed the bread out to the Kurak waiting in line.
Pie slid the fermented dough back into the oven,
assigning each person their role.
The kids, too, kept sneaking bites of bread,
chewing and chewing nonstop.
Rogi also kept bread in her mouth as she chewed, while helping Yona,
and Eti helped Pie while holding two pieces of bread between her teeth.
Eat tasted the bread as he helped Leo, and since it was better than he expected,
he kept popping one piece after another into his mouth.
For some reason, the Kurak said nothing—only ate.
Curious about their reaction, Eti walked up to take a closer look.
Their faces looked as if they were in shock.
Eti: "Does it taste bad? Your expressions…"
Kurak: "No…"
Eti: "???"
Kurak: "What… is this, exactly?"
Eti: "It’s bread~"
Kurak: "Bread…!" Watching the Kurak silently pick up the bread and keep eating,
Eti puffed out her cheeks and returned to the others.
Only after a long while did everyone become so full
they couldn’t possibly eat anything more.
So they try to rest—but Pie and Leo keep baking.
Dabi: "Stop baking. Everyone says they can’t eat anymore~"
Pie: "No! If it over-ferments, we’ll have to throw all this dough away~"
Dabi: "What! …"
Yona: "What do we do…?"
Pie: "Yeah… there’s so much… what do we do…?" A mountain of bread has already been baked,
and there’s still a lot of dough left to bake.
Then Leo seems to get a good idea—
Leo: "No. Bake it all. I’ll take care of it."
Eti: "Oppa, you’re going to eat all that by yourself?"
Leo: "No~ Bake it all first, and I’ll tell you. Just wait a bit~"
Eti: "Okay~" Eti goes back to helping with the baking,
and when the others see that, they all join in too,
and the work begins to rush smoothly toward the end.
Rogi: "Leo, what do we do with this now? Even after setting aside enough for the Kurak, there’s still way too much~"
Dabi: "We can’t pack it up and take it with us…"
Yona: "Ah! Eat, can we pack it up and take it? Is that possible?"
Eat: "Nope~ When the ‘story play’ ends, that’s it~ You can’t take anything out~ [smile]" Yona and the kids look dejected.
But Leo looks completely unconcerned.
A moment later—
without a word, he finds several huge leaves from somewhere,
folds them neatly into large pouch-like bags,
and begins carefully packing the bread.
Pie asks him,
Pie: "Leo, what are you doing?" Leo, still packing, answers,
Leo: "Yeah, I’m going to pack this up nicely and ask Ppopi and Ppupu to deliver it~" "Ohhh! That’s a great idea~" But then Pie’s bright face stiffens at once.
Pie: "But this won’t be nearly enough for the Ppopis to eat." Leo answers,
Leo: "Yeah, probably not! That’s why I need Pie’s help~" Leo leads Pie over to Ppopi and Ppupu and asks, "Can you tell them to let the baby Ppopis eat this bread first?" Pie says with a worried face, "Will they really do it just because we ask~? What if the adult Ppopis steal it?" Leo strokes Ppupu and replies, "Ppupu is the leader. If Ppupu protects them, there won’t be any problem~" Pie gladly conveyed Leo’s request,
and added one more—asking them not to threaten the Kurak either.
After that, the kids and Ppopi and Ppupu exchanged their goodbyes,
and Ppopi and Ppupu rubbed cheeks with the kids,
then immediately headed back to their habitat.
Then they also said their farewells to the Kurak, including Nev,
hoping they could meet again someday.
Among the Kurak, some smiled brightly and said goodbye with gratitude,
while many others, overwhelmed with guilt and gratitude, could not hold back tears.
Nev: Thank you, heroes… I truly hope we meet again…
Pie: Nev, thank you. Let’s definitely meet again next time~
Nev: When we meet again, we will be a great help to you heroes. I promise! Absolutely!
Pie: [Pie smiles as she answers] Next time we meet, if you call us “heroes” again, I won’t let you off!
Nev: Huh?
Pie: Got it?
Nev: Huh?
At that moment, without anyone noticing,
Rogi quietly gathered a few recovery fruits,
slipped them into her pants pocket,
then looked around to make sure no one had seen.
After confirming it, she hurried back into the group. "Bye~ Take care~" After finishing their goodbyes with the Kurak,
the kids all shouted the ending of the story together. "By the name of the King!" As they waved again and again,
a bright light burst around them.
Then, like glittering dust scattered by the wind,
they vanished.
Nev: Thank you… Let’s meet again.
The Kurak elder quietly walks toward the back of the village,
to where the recovery fruits are growing.
There, a young Kurak named Moring is curiously fiddling with them.
Moring looks up at the elder approaching quietly.
Moring: "Elder, there are so many mysterious fruits growing here~" The elder strokes Moring’s head and says, "So it is… Moring, what… what can we do with these…?" ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢
Before they know it, the kids are back at the clearing again.
One by one, they open their eyes.
Dabi: "Ah… what the heck, where are we?"
Yona: "Mm… it feels empty!"
Leo: "Yeah… seriously empty~"
Eti: "Like we left something behind?"
Pie: "What did we even do?" A few minutes later, their memories return—
and amid their murmuring,
Rogi wears a hurt, disappointed expression.
Seeing her, Pie speaks to her.
Pie: "What’s wrong, Rogi?" Rogi: …
Dabi: "Maybe Rogi feels empty too~" Rogi: …
Leo: "I wanna go to the study room… anyone coming?"
Eti: "Yeah! Let’s go to the study room~"
Yona: "It feels like I don’t want to separate. Me too—study room~" Rogi checks and realizes the recovery fruit she had secretly put in her pocket is gone,
and her disappointment grows unbearable.
She had wanted to give it to her mother.
She believed that if she could only give her mother that fruit,
then her beloved mother would surely rise to her feet at once.
But Rogi keeps slipping her hand into her pocket—
nothing is there.
Behind her friends heading toward the study room,
Rogi follows with heavy, powerless steps. "Couldn’t you have let me have just one…" -6 D END
